Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is constantly advancing. Intelligent hardware and software that reason like human beings is beginning to affect many critical areas of human life. However, there are many challenges accompanying these innovations. The challenges that need to be vitally considered to get broader advantages of AI are technical and ethical. Learning, adoption, and retention are essential in the technical challenges that we face. To learn humans’ goals, AI must not merely reason about what we do, but also about why we do it. Humans carry out this task without realizing how complicated it is for computing systems to do. It is thus hard for AI systems to strictly digest our motives, but it could be conceivably argued that if intelligent systems are provided with huge amounts of data, they would possibly be able to come up with reasonable conclusions. With regards to adoption, even if AI systems can absorb our goals, there would be no assurance they can inevitably adopt them. To discuss retention, let’s assume an AI system that can learn and adopt our goals is constructed. Can these systems maintain these goals regardless of the endless enhancements these systems endure? When AI systems continue to be more intelligent, it is likely their potential to fulfill our goals will increase. However, their comprehension of the nature of these goals may progress ahead of our knowledge. Ethical challenges deal with expressing morals that AI systems should meet. In this case, it is hard to envision the types of morals that need to be encoded in AI systems, the people who will identify them, their accomplishments on an international scale, and employing consistent laws and morals in different countries and cultures. As a result, there is a great demand for sensible solutions to these requirements. This study examines the dynamics of data management and knowledge flow in the political data ecosystem through the lens of the Knowledge Pyramid. We used open-government electoral documents and polling data for granular insights into how data, information, knowledge, and wisdom (DIKW) are managed in Bhutan’s political data ecosystem. Bhutan’s electoral stakeholders and political parties manage and use DIKW of varying types, sizes, and complexities. In particular, political parties use information systems, websites, and social media to manage data and construct and use knowledge for political activities. Democracy is still young and gaining a foothold in Bhutan. The political parties do not employ complex data technologies and rich human resources to manage DIKW emanating from the political data ecosystem. Thus, scope exists for electoral stakeholders and political actors to explore and adopt effective and efficient knowledge management infrastructures to deal with DIKW elements in the political arena, namely the complex dynamics of turning raw data into higher elements of the Knowledge Pyramid. In addition to contributing to the knowledge management literature through an in-depth account of the DIKW aspects in the political space, this paper demonstrated the analytical and explanatory power of the Knowledge Pyramid for discourse on the political data ecosystem. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Cooperation and Contract Design in Project Management with Outsourcing

We study a project management problem where the prime contractor needs to outsource tasks to subcontractors with the required *** execution of the project requires proper coordination among the subcontractors,as well as contract design by the prime contractor to incentivize the *** modeling the subcontractors’coordination problem as a cooperative game,we develop a profit sharing scheme to facilitate the subcontractors’*** consider two contract designs for the prime contractor:a uniform contract across all subcontractors,and a nonuniform one that customizes incentives for each *** propose efficient algorithms to solve the implicit optimization problems for optimal contract *** experiments show that the pooling effect of subcontractors’cooperation mitigates the negative impact of poor estimates about the crashing cost and resource *** observe three unexpected results through the randomized computation experiments:(i)the subcontractors’profits may decrease if they provide false information;(ii)it is safer for the prime contractor to overestimate subcontractors’crashing costs than underestimate them;and(iii)uniform contracts deliver more project profit for the subcontractors in the coalitions.

Fabrication of PES/POM-TiO2 mixed matrix membrane with photocatalytic activity for methylene blue removal

Membranes can be fabricated by combining with photocatalyst materials to produce photocatalytic membranes. In this study, an HPW12O40/TiO2 photocatalyst was incorporated into a polyether sulfone (PES) membrane in order to improve the membrane characteristics and performance for removal of methylene blue. The advantage of using photocatalytic membrane for dye removal is apply simultaneously separation and photocatalyst process. In this research, methylene blue was used as the feed solution and UV light irradiation was applied to activate the photocatalyst. The PES/HPW12O40-TiO2 membrane increased in flux (27%) and rejection (41%), compared to filtration without UV irradiation. This membrane was potentially utilized to remove methylene blue dye wastewater. © 2022

ASD or autism spectrum disorder is a critical neuro-developmental disorder that hinders an individual's capability of social communication and interaction. This disorder has acquired considerable attention and importance due to its ubiquity among individuals covering all the countries worldwide. Individuals with ASD struggles in daily life activities. Detection of autism with the help of medical tests is a tedious and very costly task. However, detection and care of ASD still remains unfamiliar due to inadequate awareness, knowledge among the society, limited number of diagnostic devices and limited verbal therapy services for ASD patients. This paper investigates and displays reviews of various machine learning approaches on extracting useful data associated with distinctive characteristics of ASD such as brain functioning, hyperactivitperactivity, language disability, etc. Current researches reveal that analysis of biological traits by employing machine learning techniques have helped in the progress of early detection of ASD. ABIDE dataset is very much explored for the research in ASD. Additionally, numerous studies for the advancement of tools are still in progression. The presented research work can remarkably aid future studies on machine learning for ASD. © 2023 IEEE.

Innovative technology solutions have been developed in response to the growing need for effective and customized client contact on e-commerce platforms. This work introduces an intelligent chatbot system that uses machine learning and text mining techniques to improve user satisfaction and answer customer concerns. Advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) models have been trained on large datasets, allowing for precise user intent interpretation and pertinent product recommendations. A strong recommendation engine is included into the system architecture to aid in decision-making, ultimately enhancing the customer experience by providing individualized, real-time help. The study also highlights the significance of data privacy by using privacy-preserving techniques to safeguard user data. The system's scalability and performance benefits are highlighted through thorough comparisons with current models. By showcasing the useful uses of machine learning and text mining in enhancing customer contact and service delivery, this study makes a substantial contribution to the development of AI-driven solutions in e-commerce. © 2024 IEEE.

The goal of this project is to draw a deeper understanding of the subjective nature behind online product reviews, largely by examining a large dataset received from Amazon that contains numerous star ratings and comments. Since there is such a massive amount of data on the Amazon platform, it was perfect for the analysis. Our methodology is platform-agnostic and can be easily extended to other comparable datasets from other web platforms with comparable guarantees in achieving wide applicability. Our primary motivation is improving the dependability of online shopping. Since product reviews are currently widely used by many consumers as guides in making decisions to buy products, such reviews ought to be fair representations of the actual dependability and quality of the products. The goal of our effort is to identify patterns in the language and ratings of such reviews that would directly reflect the real customer sentiment and also the reliability of the product. Our approach has yielded already a rate of about 92%, which shows it has the potential greatly to raise the legitimacy of online reviews. We'd like to make our customers feel more confident and better equipped with information to make better and safer purchases on a website like Amazon and others. In the final analysis, we strive to make online shopping for our customers worldwide safer and more trustworthy. © 2024 IEEE.

The basis of this project is to investigate whether the YOLO, an object detection algorithm where 'You Only Look Once' constitutes the name, could be applied to develop FMCG management;together with the management of FMCG, it becomes the gateway to increasing retail precision, efficiency, and agility. Under real-time processing, the system detects and counts FMCG products on retail shelves with an accuracy rate of 92.5%. This accuracy ensures that the optimum stock levels are maintained and there will be no discrepancies. The system processes video feeds at 0.08 seconds per frame, thus allowing inventory data to be updated in real-time to enable quick, data-driven decisions. YOLO's flexibility ensures consistent performance across different store layouts and product types. This system integrates with other retail management tools and allows integrating inventory data in the real time. This means that it would be made available with invaluable insights which would prevent stock depletion while helping to curtail costs. This project takes YOLO ahead of just being a game changer in the FMCG inventory management while operating to reduce expenses and customer satisfaction due to product availability. © 2024 IEEE.

The surging popularity of online movie databases has created a challenge for viewers: choosing a film from a massive library can be overwhelming. In this paper, it proposes to design a new hybrid movie recommendation powered by machine learning techniques as a solution to improve user experience. Among those techniques, two are combined into this paper: content-based filtering, using the real features of a movie such as genre and a director, and collaborative filtering, which uses the rating provided by users. This hybrid approach thus improves the intrinsic weaknesses that reside in both these methods individually. On the other hand, content-based filtering tends to reduce exploration to movies of the exact type one is doing well at, whereas, inversely, collaborative filtering settings often mean that a user will be exposed only to films within his or her already-recognized taste profile. It is expected that the proposed hybrid system will solve both problems by balancing this line between exploring familiar cinematic territory and making new recommendations based on both user preferences and the entire collective intelligence of the user base. The approach would aim to enrich user satisfaction by facilitating the selection of movies and providing a richer and more diversified movie-viewing experience. © 2024 IEEE.
