Early-cycle prediction of battery aging onset across chemistries

Accurately predicting the knee point cycle number,marking the onset of accelerated capacity degradation,is the first critical signal for managing lithium-ion battery life cycles in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage ***,the inherent electrochemo-mechanical-thermal complexities of battery aging present significant challenges for physics-based models and machine-learning models,often leading to reduced predictive *** study developed a comprehensive dataset comprising 20 lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide(NCM)/graphite cells(0.5-1 C) from our lab and 162 commercial lithium iron phosphate(LFP)/graphite cells(3-6 C) from the public database,with knee point observed between 100 and 1000 *** proposed a new strategy to extract novel features with strong physical context from early-cycle voltage curves,enabling precise knee point predictions across the chemistries without the need for extensive cycling *** model achieved a mean absolute percentage error(MAPE) of 7% for knee point prediction using five selected ***,the model yielded 8% MAPE with only one single feature across the initial 200 cycles,and 10% MAPE when applying five features across the initial 50 cycles,spanning different battery *** work highlights the potential of integrating multi-chemistry datasets with data-driven modeling to forecast aging patterns across diverse battery chemistries,advancing battery longevity and reliability.

Secure container Orchestration: A framework for detecting and mitigating Orchestrator - level vulnerabilities

This paper presents Secure Orchestration, a novel framework meticulously planned to uphold rigorous security measures over the profound security concerns that lie within the container orchestration platforms, especially in Kubernetes. The widespread adoption of containerized environments has raised concerns about the vulnerabilities at the level of the orchestrator. Secure Orchestration delivers a comprehensive approach by leveraging cutting-edge methods to detect and prevent the exposure of vulnerabilities from orchestrator misconfigurations, privilege escalation exploits that can thwart the orchestration security layer, and unauthorized access attempts targeting the orchestration system itself. In addition, it is further strengthened by deploying an Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDPS), which is responsible for actively monitoring the orchestration infrastructure. The IDPS utilizes sophisticated algorithms and mechanisms for detecting anomalies to continuously assess the orchestration environment for indications of intrusion, vulnerabilities, and anomalous activities. By using this proactive approach, the framework is able to rapidly identify potential threats and respond through countermeasures in a timely manner, thus greatly reducing the risks associated with orchestrator level vulnerabilities. Conducting a set of real-world experiments that closely simulate a variety of threat scenarios is imperative for empirically validating the efficiency of this framework. The obtained empirical results yield insightful revelations on the efficacy of the framework in accurately identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, thereby ensuring the privacy and integrity of container orchestration systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Identification of Human Activity from Video Streaming Smartphone data Using Intensified VGG16

Human activity recognition (HAR) techniques pick out and interpret human behaviors and actions by analyzing data gathered from various sensor devices. HAR aims to recognize and automatically categorize human activities using patterns and attributes taken from sensor data. HAR is complex in implementing the algorithm for a self-recorded dataset, including challenges such as age variation, wearing different clothes, environment and surface, the direction of the smartphone camera, and many more. The paper aims to propose a VGG16 deep learning framework including an activation function and different optimizers for classifying human activity from the real-time captured dataset;further, we compare the evaluated results with existing results. The proposed methods achieved 99.88% accuracy with excellent precision, recall, and F_measure values. Comparing the evaluated result with existing outcomes over the WISDM and UCI-HAR datasets. The new things in the article are a self-captured dataset of various aged male, female, and healthy volunteers to perform seven activities. Furthermore, this research uses Tensor Processing Units (TPU) available on Kaggle to improve classification accuracy while reducing error rates and speeding up execution. ©2025 The author(s).

Deep learning framework for automatic detection and classification of sleep apnea severity from polysomnography signals

Sleep apnea (SA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder characterized by breathing pauses during sleep. A person’s sleep schedule is significantly influenced by that person’s hectic lifestyle, which may include unhealthy eating habits and their line of work. Polysomnographic (PSG) sleep studies examine sleep-related disorders by recording various biosignals from the human body. However, SA classification methods could be more robust in terms of performance because they rely on feature-engineering strategies or employ a particular signal from PSG recording for diagnosis. This study aims to classify the severity of SA according to the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) into normal, mild, and moderate-to-severe groups using oxygen saturation (SpO2), electroencephalogram (EEG), and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The proposed deep neural network (DNN)-bidirectional long short-term memory (DNN-BiLSTM) framework addresses the issue of low detection accuracy in analysis. The DNN-BiLSTM approach employs features extracted from a multiscale dilation attention 1D convolutional neural network (MSDA-1DCNN) as input for detection and classification purposes. The MSDA-1DCNN network extracts deep features from processed SpO2, EEG, and ECG signals. The developed firefly combined electric fish optimization (FCEFO) algorithm improves performance by optimizing the hidden neuron count of the DNN and the learning rate of the BiLSTM framework. The performance measures proved the effectiveness of the model over conventional machine and deep learning approaches. With the integration of deep features, the proposed DNN-BiLSTM model provides enhanced performance in terms of accuracy and precision. The drug traceability model is used for ensuring drug quality and its safety for customers in the medical supply chain. The healthcare supply chain is a complex network, which is susceptible to failures and leakage of information because of cyber security attacks. Hence, this research aims to design a blockchain to perform traceability of drugs using Henry Gas Solubility Optimisation (HGSO). The entities include distributors, wholesalers, retailers, blockchain and patients. This model comprises initialisation, registration, key generation, authentication, drug distribution with traceability and key generation phases. Any exchange of medicines needs the approval of both sender and receiver. The drugs are registered in the blockchain, which then generates a secret key that is obtained using HGSO. The verification and authentication of drugs are performed after the authentication process. The implemented model outperformed with the response time, memory, normalised variance, and privacy of 32.678 sec, 84 MB, 0.958 and 0.958. Copyright © 2025 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Drone Detection and Tracking using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks from Real-time CCTV Footage

Drones are flying objects that may be controlled remotely or programmed to do a wide range of tasks, including aerial photography, videography, surveys, crop and animal monitoring, search and rescue missions, package delivery, and military operations. Unrestrained use, however, can pose a significant threat to safety, privacy, and security through eavesdropping, flying close to prohibited locations, interfering with public events, and delivering illicit items. Hence, real-time drone detection and tracking are indispensable and appropriate measures. This study developed real-time drone detection and tracking using the most efficient deep-learning approaches. The models were fine-tuned first to suit the required purpose and yield the desired outcome. The performance of the developed system was better than that of earlier endeavors in terms of accuracy and loss. Of the seven fined-tuned models, the Xception model constantly rendered the maximum accuracy with negligible loss. The model outperformed other state-of-the-art architectures, exhibiting an accuracy and loss of 99.18% and 3.83, respectively. A survey on cross-user federated recommendation

Recommender systems are effective in mitigating information overload, yet the centralized storage of user data raises significant privacy concerns. Cross-user federated recommendation(CUFR) provides a promising distributed paradigm to address these concerns by enabling privacy-preserving recommendations directly on user devices. In this survey, we review and categorize current progress in CUFR, focusing on four key aspects: privacy, security, accuracy, and efficiency. Firstly,we conduct an in-depth privacy analysis, discuss various cases of privacy leakage, and then review recent methods for privacy protection. Secondly, we analyze security concerns and review recent methods for untargeted and targeted *** untargeted attack methods, we categorize them into data poisoning attack methods and parameter poisoning attack methods. For targeted attack methods, we categorize them into user-based methods and item-based methods. Thirdly,we provide an overview of the federated variants of some representative methods, and then review the recent methods for improving accuracy from two categories: data heterogeneity and high-order information. Fourthly, we review recent methods for improving training efficiency from two categories: client sampling and model compression. Finally, we conclude this survey and explore some potential future research topics in CUFR.

Performance Evaluation of a Multi-input Interleaved Boost Converter with a Tuned Proportional-integral Controller

The need for renewable energy access has led to the use of variable input converter approaches because renewable energy sources often generate electricity in an unpredictable manner. A high-performance multi-input boost converter is developed to provide the necessary output voltage and power while accommodating variations in input sources. This converter is specifically designed for the efficient usage of renewable energy. The proposed architecture integrates three separate unidirectional input power sources: photovoltaics, fuel cells, and storage system batteries. The architecture has five switches, and the implementation of each switch in the converter is achieved by applying the calculated duty ratios in various operating states. The closed-loop response of the converter with a proportional-integral (PI) controller-based switching system is examined by analyzing the Matlab-Simulink model utilizing a proportional-integral derivative (PID) tuner. The controller can deliver the desired output voltage of 400 V and an average power of 2 kW while exhibiting low switching transient effects. Therefore, the proposed multi-input interleaved boost converter demonstrates robust results for real-time applications by effectively harnessing renewable power sources.
