Online customer reviews can be valuable information when processed with the right techniques. Businesses aim to enhance their strategies in managing operations by leveraging sentiment analysis from their clientele. In a business context, the primary focus of SA is to capture individual perspectives on products. Presently, sentiment analysis not only deals with emotional polarity but also classifies sentiments towards various product-related aspects. This research aims to classify restaurant customer review data on Google Maps into categories such as 'menu,' 'taste,' 'indoor atmosphere,' and 'outdoor atmosphere'. We utilize 450 entries for this dataset. The model used is Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers (BERT), a technique based on transformer-based neural networks, capable of learning grammatical structures, interpreting semantics, and deriving relationships among contextual entities. The results show a less satisfying accuracy score of 41.110/0. This is due to several inaccuracies in the label annotations of the utilized data. Further analysis is discussed in the Discussion and Conclusion section. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel infrastructure-dependent ramp-metering control for the recently proposed METANET with service station (METANET-s) model, i.e., a second-order macroscopic traffic model that, compared to the classical METANET, incorporates the dynamics of service stations on highways. We study the effect of a ramp-metering control scheme on a highway stretch with a service station and show that it is capable of actively regulate internal traffic demand attempting to exit the service station via its on-ramp, on top of contributing to decrease the traffic congestion on the mainstream. In fact, the proposed control scheme effectively prevents the backlog of vehicles attempting to merge back onto the mainstream. This dynamic control mechanism is further endowed by a route guidance control strategy increasing the share of vehicles stopping at the service station during main-stream congestion periods, e.g. via incentives. The combined effect of our control schemes allows to take full advantage of the presence of service stations, reducing the overall traffic congestion. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

The primary objective of medicine and technology is to provide services capable of identifying and treating patients based on their particular conditions. The accuracy of disease diagnosis is of paramount importance to this endeavor. Cancer is a major cause of death on a global scale, with prognosis, prevention, and prompt intervention offering the possibility of complete patient remission. In this Python-based experiment, we investigate the viability of transfer learning for lymph node diagnosis in histopathology images, which are used to fine-tune a DenseNet121-based pre-trained model. The results indicate that fine-tuning the DenseNet121 model is more effective than training the model from start. Due to variations in the network's initial weight distribution, the network's average accuracy is 96%. Following the implementation and completion of ten training epochs, the average overall accuracy reaches a maximum of 98%, with less than 10% error accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Inverters are used to supply induction motors in the industry and electric traction. Inverters can operate in open-loop or closed-loop control. This work aims to study how the control mode affects fault detection and observation in the stator current spectrum of winding and rotor slot harmonics. We present an experimental study on these effects. In closed-loop control, the steady-state analysis of the stator current with the Fourier transform is unsuitable due to slight variations in the motor speed and the supply voltage frequency. It is necessary to use a time-frequency analysis technique. In this case, the short-time Fourier transform is used, which is well adapted to slow speed and frequency variations. It allows observing the trajectory in the time-frequency plane of the fault, winding and rotor slot harmonics. © 2023 IEEE.

The rapid expansion of biological literature presents significant challenges in manually curating pathway knowledge from images for biological and medical research. Recent advancements in AI, particularly multimodal AI chatbots like GPT-4V, Claude, and Gemini, offer promising capabilities for image understanding and extraction of biological interactions. This study evaluates the effectiveness of these AI chatbots in curating gene interactions from 50 curated tumor signaling pathway images. Our results highlight the superior performance of GPT-4V, achieving a precision of 0.778, a recall of 0.664, an F1-score of 0.716 in non-directional analysis, and a precision of 0.566, a recall of 0.471, an F1-score of 0.512 in directional analysis. Claude followed with a precision of 0.735, recall of 0.594, and F1-score of 0.6571 in non-directional analysis, and a precision of 0.500, recall of 0.400, and F1-score of 0.445 in directional analysis. Gemini recorded the lowest performance metrics across both analyses. We further developed a model fusion integrating Claude-3 chatbots and our pathway curation pipeline, achieving notable improvements. © 2024 IEEE.

The addition of surface acoustic wave(SAW)technologies to microfluidics has greatly advanced lab-on-a-chip applications due to their unique and powerful attributes,including high-precision manipulation,versatility,integrability,biocompatibility,contactless nature,and rapid ***,the development of SAW microfluidic devices is limited by complex and time-consuming micro/nanofabrication techniques and access to cleanroom facilities for multistep photolithography and vacuum-based *** simplify the fabrication of SAW microfluidic devices with customizable dimensions and functions,we utilized the additive manufacturing technique of aerosol jet *** successfully fabricated customized SAW microfluidic devices of varying materials,including silver nanowires,graphene,and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)polystyrene sulfonate(PEDOT:PSS).To characterize and compare the acoustic actuation performance of these aerosol jet printed SAW microfluidic devices with their cleanroom-fabricated counterparts,the wave displacements and resonant frequencies of the different fabricated devices were directly measured through scanning laser Doppler ***,to exhibit the capability of the aerosol jet printed devices for lab-on-a-chip applications,we successfully conducted acoustic streaming and particle concentration ***,we demonstrated a novel solution-based,direct-write,single-step,cleanroom-free additive manufacturing technique to rapidly develop SAW microfluidic devices that shows viability for applications in the fields of biology,chemistry,engineering,and medicine.

This paper presents a system for detecting gestures and controlling devices in Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environments using machine learning and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. The system consists of two main components: a device equipped with a set of sensors to detect hand gestures via IMU sensor and a BLE-enabled hub that receives the gesture data and controls the lighting of the house. The hub uses machine learning algorithms to recognize hand gestures and transmit the corresponding commands to the devices. The hub, in turn, uses wifi to communicate with the devices and execute the appropriate actions based on the received commands. The proposed system's performance evaluation was carried out through a series of experiments in a AAL environment. The results demonstrate that the system is capable of accurately detecting hand gestures and controlling various devices such as lights, where the model's performance yields successful predictions with an accuracy rate of 90%. The proposed system provides a user-friendly and intuitive way for elderly or people with disabilities to control their environment without the need for complex interfaces or physical buttons. Furthermore, the system can be easily extended to support more gestures and devices, making it a flexible and scalable solution for AAL environments. © 2023 IEEE.

There are many difficulties in managing and detecting preterm pregnancies, especially in the early stages. Analyzing electrohysterogram data, which show the electrical activity of uterine muscles, is a promising non-invasive method for classifying term and preterm pregnancies. However, the effectiveness of machine learning classifiers is hampered by the inherent class imbalance in datasets. In order to overcome this constraint, this study uses a Generative Adversarial Network to produce high-quality synthetic EHG data while maintaining the statistical properties of actual signals. By successfully reducing class imbalance, the enhanced dataset makes it possible for machine learning models to be trained with resilience. Real and synthetic features did not differ significantly, according to statistical validation using a t-test (p > 0.05). With this method, the Random Forest classifier obtained a ROC-AUC of 0.99 and a 10-fold cross-validation accuracy of 98%. The suggested GAN-based method’s simplicity and efficacy demonstrate its promise for resolving class imbalance and developing reliable classification systems for diagnostic applications. © 2013 IEEE.

In software development, source code analysis is essential to maintain software. One of the metrics used to assess software quality is software complexity, which can be calculated by analyzing source code statements like declaration, expression, and control. However, analyzing source code statements using an existing popular technique, like NLP, requires another structured form of data, which can be obtained by converting the source code into a token stream using a programming language processor. This study aims to get the best source code statement classification from six observed models and two source code forms. The models are Decision Tree, Naïve Bayes, SVM, kNN, Rocchio Algorithm and Random Forest. The source code forms are the raw source code and token stream object. The dataset collection used 562 rows of source code statements from an open-source Java project in a public repository. Next, we use ANTLR to transform the raw source code and get the token stream object. Later, the dataset was modeled using TF-IDF as an NLP technique to get the source code features. Then, six machine learning models were built and evaluated as a comparison for the classification process. As a result, Random Forest became the best model with the highest accuracy values among other machine learning models. Moreover, the token stream became the best object over source code as a contribution from the ANTLR. The model successfully predicted source code statements with a 96.1% accuracy score using the Random Forest model and ANTLR tools. In advance, this multiclass classification was also evaluated and gave a result. No declaration statement was predicted as a control statement, and vice versa (100% accuracy), but some miss prediction was observed in declaration-expression and expression-control pairs. Nevertheless, the Random Forest model's high accuracy and precision make it suitable for classifying source code statements. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we design a 3D map management scheme for edge-assisted mobile augmented reality (MAR) to support the pose estimation of individual MAR device, which uploads camera frames to an edge server. Our objective is to minimize the pose estimation uncertainty of the MAR device by periodically selecting a proper set of camera frames for uploading to update the 3D map. To address the challenges of the dynamic uplink data rate and the time-varying pose of the MAR device, we propose a digital twin (DT)-based approach to 3D map management. First, a DT is created for the MAR device, which emulates 3D map management based on predicting subsequent camera frames. Second, a model-based reinforcement learning (MBRL) algorithm is developed, utilizing the data collected from both the actual and the emulated data to manage the 3D map. With extensive emulated data provided by the DT, the MBRL algorithm can quickly provide an adaptive map management policy in a highly dynamic environment. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DT-based 3D map management outperforms benchmark schemes by achieving lower pose estimation uncertainty and higher data efficiency in dynamic environments. © 2023 IEEE.
