The current utilization of e-learning has not been able to increase participation and learning experience and motivate students to achieve educational goals. This research focuses on developing gamification-based learning media in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) subjects to increase student learning motivation, determine the feasibility level of learning media, and determine the increase in student learning motivation. The method of the research is design thinking It is used to identify and better understand users in the use of applications, find problems faced by users, and can explore new ideas in the creation of appropriate application features in accordance with user needs. The results of expert media validation from the teacher, lecturer, and programmer amounted to 89.78% in the good category, for the material validation results of 91.33% in the very good category. Media use was implemented by 23 students of class XI RPL SMKN 12 Malang. The user trial results showed a percentage of 83.48% with good criteria. The student learning motivation test results showed a percentage of 81.26% with very high criteria. This shows the effect of gamification implementation in fostering student learning motivation. Gamification-based media has been tested for feasibility by media experts, material experts, and students. Therefore, the media is feasible and can be used as a learning support media in object-oriented programming subjects in Vocational High School. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, the protection of so-called "soft targets", has become an increasingly important and challenging issue. The complexity and seriousness of this security threat have been growing exponentially, particularly with the advent of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), and 3D printing, especially in the context of large-scale, popular, and diverse public spaces. In this paper, a novel Digital Twin-as-a-Security-Service (DTaaSS) architecture is introduced for holistically and significantly enhancing the protection of public spaces (e.g. metro stations, leisure sites, urban squares, etc.). The proposed framework combines a Digital Twin (DT) conceptualization with additional cutting-edge technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, Big Data analytics and AI. In particular, DTaaSS comprises a holistic, real-time, large-scale, comprehensive and data-driven security solution for the efficient/robust protection of public spaces, supporting: a) data collection and analytics, b) area monitoring/control and proactive threat detection, c) incident/attack prediction, and d) quantitative and data-driven vulnerability assessment. Overall, the designed architecture exhibits increased potential in handling complex, hybrid and combined threats over large, critical and popular soft-targets. The applicability and robustness of DTaaSS is discussed in detail against representative and diverse real-world application scenarios, including complex attacks to: a) a metro station, b) a leisure site, and c) a cathedral square. © 2024 IEEE.

Digital technologies are becoming increasingly complex and integrated, leading to significant transformations in society and the economy. The article aims to explore and summarize the new opportunities and potential risks of the widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) in all aspects of life, to define the new skills and necessary knowledge of digital entrepreneurs and to highlight the need for transformation in modern education. Recognizing that the relationship between technology and business is two-way and becoming stronger, revealing that well-prepared employees are a guarantee of success and prosperity of companies in various fields, we try to focus on the main groups of qualities, skills and basic knowledge of students in the age of artificial intelligence. The development of the Internet, expansion of connectivity through social networks, the advent of AI, 3D printing, and immersive technologies like Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality, require new knowledge and skills, leading to new challenges in education. Qualified personnel in this modern world must have solid professional training and systemic thinking (knowledge, skills, accumulated information), developed cognitive abilities, and personal skills based on collecting and analyzing large amounts of diverse information from heterogeneous sources. Questions arise: how can multiple information sources be combined effectively, and how can the fusion of multiple sources provide additional information to support decision-making processes? Combining information obtained from the real world makes the results heterogeneous and more informative. It follows the need to develop machine learning methods to extract relevant information from increasingly complex data sets. As a subset of machine learning, meta-learning, or learning to learn, aims at improving the model’s capabilities by employing prior knowledge and experience. A meta-learning paradigm can appropriately tackle the conventional challenges of traditional learning approaches, such as insufficient number of samples, domain shifts, and generalization. These unique characteristics position meta-learning as a suitable choice for developing influential solutions in various healthcare contexts, where the available data is often insufficient, and the data collection methodologies are different. This survey discusses meta-learning broad applications in the healthcare domain to provide insight into how and where it can address critical healthcare challenges. We first describe the theoretical foundations and pivotal methods of meta-learning. We then divide the employed meta-learning approaches in the healthcare domain into two main categories of multi/single-task learning and many/few-shot learning and survey the studies. In this paper, we present a vanadium dioxide (VO2) based metamaterial absorber at terahertz (THz) frequencies, achieving near unity absorption from 3.5 THz to 5 THz through full vector numerical simulation which refers to a computational method that considers complete vector nature of electromagnetic fields in three dimensions. Our proposed absorber is based on a single layered elliptic shaped ring resonator, which provides more design freedom than the existing absorbers and is easier to fabricate. Our numerical simulations show that modifying the conductivity of VO2 significantly enhances the absorption peak, and reaches near-perfect absorption when the conductivity of VO2 reaches the metallic phase. We illustrate that for a specific conductivity of the metal layer, the absorption peak of the absorber can be controlled by adjusting the width of the ring, the ellipticity of the ring, and the thickness of the dielectric. We also explain the physical mechanism and origin of broadband absorption through impedance matching theory. We believe that our proposed absorber may find applications in sensing and imaging technology. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, we present PhysioFuseNet, a novel framework designed to enhance driver stress state classification. PhysioFuseNet integrates a CNN-based encoder-decoder model with multimodal biosignal fusion. Using a driving simulator, different multimodal signals were acquired, namely electrocardiography, electrodermal activity, photoplethysmography, and respiration rate from (N = 25) healthy subjects. The experiment is of 35 minutes duration and contains different stress states (baseline (5 minutes), while normal, cognitive, and emotional sessions for 10 minutes). Multimodal features are extracted and employed in an encoder-decoder network. Extracted encoder features are combined through intermediate fusion and fed to support vector machine (SVM) and random forest (RF) classifiers. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of our approach, outperforming previous methods by achieving accuracies of 0.95 and 0.94 for SVM and RF, respectively. Notably, the framework excels in classifying emotional and cognitive stress states. In summary, the proposed framework could be useful in stress assessment in real-time and clinical conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Purpose: Primary Health Care (PHC) is the coordinator of health care in Brazil and needs to be strengthened in the diagnostic field to increase health care quality. Aiming to improve the diagnostic tools currently available in PHC, this work describes the process of development and validation of two point-of-care biomedical devices for screening patients with syphilis or different kinds of cancer. Methods: The development of these devices followed nine stages of action based on the requirements established by the Ministry of Health. During development, both systems followed the stages of circuit planning, software simulation to verify the components used, cost assessment for the acquisition of features, simulation in contact matrix, development of the embedded system, and planning of the printed circuit board and storage box. Results: Both devices underwent preliminary functionality tests to assess their quality. The performance tests applied on the device to diagnose syphilis performed 8,733,194 requests, with a flow of 2426 requests/second, reaching the desired parameters of robustness, integrity, durability, and stability. In addition, functioning tests on the cancer-screening device indicated the ability to detect standard fluorescence in a minimal (150 uL) sample volume. Conclusions: Together, the methodology used for developing the devices resulted in promising equipment to improve the diagnosis and meet the requirements for executing technologies for testing and triaging patients in PHC. © 2022, The Author(s).

Achieving high-resolution outputs in Digital Light Processing (DLP) bioprinting requires precise control over photocrosslinking, particularly for dense, intricate models with fine gaps. Over-crosslinking is affected by factors such as light scattering, limited depth of focus, and molecular diffusion. Traditionally, these issues are managed by altering the material and light source. This study presents a novel segmentation approach designed to address these challenges by leveraging the inherent diffusion characteristics of the DLP system rather than altering its core components. The generation and diffusion of free radicals increase with light intensity and the density of the illuminated area, which alters the risk of over-crosslinking in these regions. The proposed technique involves segmenting the photomask into discrete regions and employing an on-off activation strategy to enhance control over photopolymerization. By strategically segmenting the mask and alternating the activation of adjacent segments, the technique effectively manages the distribution and concentration of free radicals and allows time for the termination phase of photopolymerization. It creates spatial gaps, helps manage free radical diffusion, prevents unwanted combinations, and filling of small gaps, thus improving resolution. Demonstrated by printing a bronchial model, this approach achieved a 100 µm gap between bronchial branches at a 14.43x compression ratio to anatomical size. The live-dead assay shows sustained cell viability of up to 90% for GelMA and up to 85% for GelMA-PEGDA constructs across seven days. This study shows that the segmentation strategy significantly reduces over-crosslinking, advancing DLP bioprinting for applications requiring precise control over complex features and detailed features. © 2025 SPIE.

This paper discusses a proposed fiber-optic sensor that was based on the combination of the material called polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The practical experiments were conducted under laboratory conditions with a group of 6 volunteers. The data were compared with conventional electrocardiogram (ECG) and processed using a Bland-Altman method. The results described in this paper show that the 3D printing technique can be used for encapsulating the FBG and for the purpose of biomedical engineering. © 2023 SPIE.
