The trend towards more didactics in eLearning and the increased usage of new media makes the design and development of courses increasingly complex. Only parts of the eLearning development process are supported by IT. As an effect, this may lead to a lower quality in eLearning material and courses, which in turn makes the possibility of participating in eLearning courses a rather unattractive option. In aiming to achieve a higher quality for eLearning-based courses, we introduce a conceptual model - the course creation model - that serves as a guideline for designing, realizing, and evaluating eLearning processes. This model is applied with eduWEAVER, a Web application that integrates design, development, and deployment of eLearning scenarios.

The field of Statistics is a conceptually rich domain where information is complex, huge in volume, and highly valuable and critical for Governmental institutes. The daily production of statistical information increases exponentially worldwide, making the processing of all this information a very difficult and time - consuming task. Therefore, efficient search, filtering and browsing techniques are needed to access and process statistical data in an effective way. We present semantically enhanced search approach to enhance e-Govemment searching services. We evaluate our proposals on the case of Intrastat, that is the method of collecting information and producing statistics on the export and import of goods between Member States of the European Union (EU), providing added - value web search services. We employ Semantic Web technologies to create an intelligent search engine based on modeling the systems' electronic catalogue using the OWL ontology language, combined with AJAX techniques for usability richness and responsiveness. We present a search tool based on these technologies, that consists of a) our novel ontology for the EU Combined Nomenclature codes serving as a knowledge base, b)a semantically enhanced search and recommendation module that improves the quality of the results and c) a "Search as you type" visualization and navigation module to provide a usable interface to be used in navigation and search.

Web applications, or web sites, are an important communication medium conveying information between organizations and the users of their web applications. To ensure a unique appearance of their web applications, organizations define standardized content, navigation and presentation requirements for web applications within their corporate identity. However, specialized information supplied by organizational units may not fit into this standardized scheme. To overcome this situation, we introduce the concept of web site families, capable of capturing the requirements necessary to fulfill the corporate identity, while at the same time providing the flexibility to specify distinct requirements of organizational units. Web site families rely on a hierarchical model in which common requirements for a family of web sites are captured. Those requirements may be extended, refined or re-structured within a concrete web site of an organizational unit as long as it adheres to the common requirements. In this paper we will define the structure of web site families and how consistency criteria derived from the common requirements of organizations allow the flexible definition of families of web sites.

Various kinds of data are processed in workflow management systems: from case data to control data, from internal data to access to external databases or documents exchanged in inter-organizational workflows. We propose a uniform treatment of all kinds of businessdata in workflows. This is achieved by an abstraction mechanism which enables the transparent access to data in any source in a uniform way. Current time management approaches assume that communication with external tasks, which are enacted by the process, is conducted in a blocking or synchronous manner. An efficient and scalable solution to this problem yields significant benefits for data warehousing and decision support systems, as well as for powerful data integration *** first present a naive rewriting algorithm implicit in the recent theoretical results by Cohen et al. [5] and identify three independent sources of exponential complexity in the naive algorithm, including an expensive containment check.
