Timely and precise classification and segmentation of gastric bleeding in endoscopic imagery are pivotal for the rapid diagnosis and intervention of gastric complications, which is critical in life-saving medical procedures. Traditional methods grapple with the challenge posed by the indistinguishable intensity values of bleeding tissues adjacent to other gastric structures. Our study seeks to revolutionize this domain by introducing a novel deep learning model, the Dual Spatial Kernelized Constrained Fuzzy C-Means (Deep DuS-KFCM) clustering algorithm. This Hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy system synergizes Neural Networks with Fuzzy Logic to offer a highly precise and efficient identification of bleeding regions. Implementing a two-fold coarse-to-fine strategy for segmentation, this model initially employs the Spatial Kernelized Fuzzy C-Means (SKFCM) algorithm enhanced with spatial intensity profiles and subsequently harnesses the state-of-the-art DeepLabv3+ with ResNet50 architecture to refine the segmentation output. Through extensive experiments across mainstream gastric bleeding and red spots datasets, our Deep DuS-KFCM model demonstrated unprecedented accuracy rates of 87.95%, coupled with a specificity of 96.33%, outperforming contemporary segmentation methods. The findings underscore the model’s robustness against noise and its outstanding segmentation capabilities, particularly for identifying subtle bleeding symptoms, thereby presenting a significant leap forward in medical image processing. © 2024, CC BY.

Global adoption of wind energy continues to increase, while improving the efficiency of turbine settings requires reliable wind speed (WS) models. The latest models rely on artificial intelligence (AI) optimizations which constructs tests on a range of novel hybrid models to examine the reliability. Gradient Boosting (GB), Random Forest (RF), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) are used in new combinations for data pre-processing. A Time Varying Filter-based Empirical Mode Decomposition (TVFEMD) model is coupled with the GB and LSTM standalone models, to create TVFEMD-GB and TVFEMD-LSTM hybrids, which are run in competition with each other. Eventually, a preferred hybrid form is established, simultaneous hybridization of TVFEMD with GB and LSTM. This study is the first to hybridize these fundamental systems, and create a TVFEMD-GB-LSTM model that can forecast WS. This study finds that the novel hybrid models exhibit superior performance to standalone GB and LSTM models, opening the pathway to alternative WS prediction techniques. © 2024 The Authors

Edge-minimum saturated k-planar drawings

For a class D of drawings of loopless (multi-)graphs in the plane, a drawing D ∈ D is saturated when the addition of any edge to D results in D0 ∈/ D—this is analogous to saturated graphs in a graph class as introduced by Turán (1941) and Erdös, Hajnal, and Moon (1964). We focus on k-planar drawings, that is, graphs drawn in the plane where each edge is crossed at most k times, and the classes D of all k-planar drawings obeying a number of restrictions, such as having no crossing incident edges, no pair of edges crossing more than once, or no edge crossing itself. While saturated k-planar drawings are the focus of several prior works, tight bounds on how sparse these can be are not well understood. We establish a generic framework to determine the minimum number of edges among all n-vertex saturated k-planar drawings in many natural classes. For example, when incident crossings, multicrossings and selfcrossings are all allowed, the sparsest n-vertex saturated k-planar drawings have 2/k−(k mod 2) (n − 1) edges for any k ≥ 4, while if all that is forbidden, the sparsest such drawings have 2(k + 1)/k (k-1) (n − 1) edges for any k ≥ 6. Hyperspectral imagery is widely used in remote sensing applications that take into account thousands of spectral channel compositions over a single scene. Hyperspectral imagery requires accurate models of learning to extract the hyperspectral features in an image. Due to the presence of its spatial and spectral resolution, the image learning model presents a core challenge due to its complicated nature of image frames. In order to assist it during the learning process, several attempts have been made to address its complicated nature. However, these methods failed to provide the hyperspectral imagery with a deeper understanding. Because of the presence of mixed pixels, limited training samples and redundant data, the utilization of deep learning techniques addresses the problems. The deep learning process addresses the complex image data relationship. In this paper, various deep learning methods are studied which are used for the learning of hyperspectral imagery. Initially, we present an overview on various deep learning methods for various image processing techniques. A system review is then carried out on various hyperspectral image learning models based on deep learning. © 2020 IEEE.

Owing to rapid progress in field of nanotechnology, various mathematical model has been proposed regarding the flow of nanofluids. Based on boosted thermal properties, multidisciplinary applications of such materials has been claimed in various engineering and industrial processes. In current work, a theoretical analysis is performed for bioconvective flow of Carreau fluid with applications of magnetic dipole. The significance of magnetic dipole are presented with interaction of ferrofluid. The applications of viscous dissipation have also been entertained. The flow is subject to applications of stretched surface. Similarity variables are used for making transformation to obtain set of nonlinear ODEs from set of PDEs. The numerical computation is also made by using of well-known numerical method termed as bvp4c. Influences of various non dimensional fluid parameters like Brownian motion, viscous dissipation, Curie temperature, Weissenberg number, motile difference parameter and bioconvection Paclet number are examined and expressed graphically. It is perceived that ferrofluid's concentration declines when Brownian diffusive variable is augmented while opposite characteristics are reported for Schmidt number. Current results conveying applications in the biofuels, better heat transport medium, fertilizers, catalysts, electronics, paints, semiconductors, speakers, drug delivery, fertilizers etc. © 2024 The Author(s)

Throughout its history, Operational Research has evolved to include a variety of methods, models and algorithms that have been applied to a diverse and wide range of contexts. This encyclopedic article consists of two main sections: methods and applications. The first aims to summarise the up-to-date knowledge and provide an overview of the state-of-the-art methods and key developments in the various subdomains of the field. The second offers a wide-ranging list of areas where Operational Research has been applied. The article is meant to be read in a nonlinear fashion. It should be used as a point of reference or first-port-of-call for a diverse pool of readers: academics, researchers, students, and practitioners. The entries within the methods and applications sections are presented in alphabetical order. The authors dedicate this paper to the 2023 Turkey/Syria earthquake victims. Multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) integrates diverse types of data via machine learning to improve understanding, prediction, and decision-making across disciplines such as healthcare, science, and engineering. However, most multimodal AI advances focus on models for vision and language data, while their deployability remains a key challenge. We advocate a deployment-centric workflow that incorporates deployment constraints early to reduce the likelihood of undeployable solutions, complementing data-centric and model-centric approaches. We also emphasise deeper integration across multiple levels of multimodality and multidisciplinary collaboration to significantly broaden the research scope beyond vision and language. To facilitate this approach, we identify common multimodal-AI-specific challenges shared across disciplines and examine three real-world use cases: pandemic response, self-driving car design, and climate change adaptation, drawing expertise from healthcare, social science, engineering, science, sustainability, and finance. By fostering multidisciplinary dialogue and open research practices, our community can accelerate deployment-centric development for broad societal impact. © 2025, CC BY.

The transition to renewable energy is crucial to meet growing global energy demands while minimizing environmental impact. Solar energy, a leading renewable source, faces limitations due to its intermittent nature, making energy storage systems essential for continuous supply. Thermal energy storage systems (TESSs) provide a compelling solution, especially by utilizing latent heat storage with phase change materials (PCMs), which efficiently store large amounts of energy. However, PCM-based systems suffer from low thermal conductivity and weak heat transfer performance. Numerous techniques to amend the thermal conductivity of PCMs, whether applied individually or together, show promise for improving the efficiency of TESSs. However, challenges like increased viscosity, decreased latent heat capacity, high costs, and complex manufacturing often limit their practical use. Thus, it is crucial to investigate more straightforward and more cost-effective solutions, like incorporating extended surfaces into the PCM container. In this study, a novel approach is taken to ameliorate the heat transfer surface area in TESSs by incorporating tubes and stands inside the PCM container rather than relying on conventional fins. A new compact TESS design was introduced, featuring fixed tubes supported by aluminum-made stands. Two artificial neural networks (ANN) models were trained with input parameters, including the length of the vertical stands, horizontal stands, and tilted stands, to anticipate the half-melting time and complete melting time of the PCM. In the end, two optimal designs of O-TESS1 and O-TESS2 were proposed by a single-objective optimization, focusing on minimizing the half and complete melting times of the PCM, respectively. A multi-objective optimization was also performed to balance the mentioned objectives. Computer-assisted automatic analysis of diabetic retinopathy (DR) is of great importance in reducing the risks of vision loss and even blindness. Ultra-wide optical coherence tomography angiography (UW-OCTA) is a non-invasive and safe imaging modality in DR diagnosis system, but there is a lack of publicly available benchmarks for model development and evaluation. To promote further research and scientific benchmarking for diabetic retinopathy analysis using UW-OCTA images, we organized a challenge named "DRAC - Diabetic Retinopathy Analysis Challenge" in conjunction with the 25th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2022). The challenge consists of three tasks: segmentation of DR lesions, image quality assessment and DR grading. The scientific community responded positively to the challenge, with 11, 12, and 13 teams from geographically diverse institutes submitting different solutions in these three tasks, respectively. This paper presents a summary and analysis of the top-performing solutions and results for each task of the challenge. The obtained results from top algorithms indicate the importance of data augmentation, model architecture and ensemble of networks in improving the performance of deep learning models. These findings have the potential to enable new developments in diabetic retinopathy analysis. The challenge remains open for post-challenge registrations and submissions for benchmarking future methodology developments. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Aminimum spanning tree with multiple objectives is one type of NP hard problem, and it has a wide application area in ourdaily life. Modelling real world problems, requires many associated parameters which are not well-defined and are indeterminate in nature. Thus, it is rational to consider these indeterminate parameters while modelling real life problems. This article, investigates onthe study of minimum spanning tree with multiple objectives which are uncertain in nature. The proposed multiple objectives minimum spanning tree has two uncertain parameters associated with it, they are time and cost. Both of these parameters are indeterminate in nature and characterizedas uncertain variables. The expected value model (EVM) of multiple objectives minimum spanning tree is formulatedin this study and convex combination method is used to solve this problem. Finally to achieve the nondominated solutions of this problem, we have solved the EVM by varying the related weights of its objectives.
