He completed his bachelor of science degree in aeropace and ocean engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985 and his master of science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland in 1990. Mr. Dirlik recently completed a master of science program in applied physics at The Johns Hopins University and currently works in the Radar Cross Section and Target Physics Branch of the Signatures Directorate at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corderoke Division. He has worked on Navy low observable programs since 1990. Stephen Hambric:is a research associate at the Applied Research Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his B. S. and M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his D. Sc. in mechnical engineering from the George Washington University. He has worked on several computer aided multidiscikplinary design and optimization projects over the years including an automated propeller design system and a structural acoustic optimization capability. Dr. Shpour Azarm:is currently working as an associate professor with the Design and Manufacturing Group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of maryland at College Park. Dr Azarm's expertise is in the areas of optimization-based designed and concurrent design and optimization of multidisciplinary systems. He was a consultant at Black & Decker Corporation (summer 1996) and worked as a Navy senior summer faculty fellow (summer 1995) and a NASA summer faculty fellow (summer 1994). He was a visiting scientist at NASA Langley Research Center for Multidisciplinary Analysis and Applied Structural Optimzatiom at the University of Siegen in Germany (spring 1992) and the Design Institute of the Technical University of Denmark (summer 1990). At present he is a Research Associate. He has been engaged in research on the propagation and scattering of the electromagnetic waves. Received his B.S. (equivalent) degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Defense Academy of Japan in 1970 his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of New York (presently the Polytechnic University) Farmingdale NY in 1975 and 1978 respectively and a Dr. of Eng. degree from Tohoku University Sendai Japan in 1983. From June to December 1978 he was a Research Fellow of the Polytechnic Institute of New York. From January 1979 to March 1982 he was with the Defense Research Center of the Defense Agency. In April 1982 he became a Lecturer at the National Defense Academy. From September 1984 through February 1985 he was a Visiting Scholar at the Polytechnic Institute of New York. In 1985 he became an Associate Professor at the National Defense Academy where he was promoted to Professor in 1990. He has been engaged in research on propagation and scattering of electromagnetic waves and acoustic waves. He is a member of the IEEE the Acoustic Society of Japan the Applied Physics Society and the Ocean Acoustic Society.

作者: Mel Silberberg Silberberg Associates Northern Essex Community College (NECC) Haverhill MA in January 1991 to devote himself to issues of education and governmental reform at all levels. A graduate of Harvard College and Boston University he taught high school chemistry and physics before joining the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn as graduate research fellow in 1951. He spent twenty years in private sector management and training before returning to public education in 1974 creating a pilot model training program for the state of Massachusetts then serving as the statewide coordinator for training for the Massachusetts Department of Education. Returning to NECC in 1984 he instituted perhaps the first‐in‐the‐country degree program in Total Quality Management for a two‐year public college and became interested in the applications of TQM to the public sector and in particular to education. Melvin is a founding board member of the National Educational Quality Initiative Inc. (NEQI) and of the Massachusetts Municipal Quality Network and a member of OAL/QPC AQP ASQC and the Total Quality Network (AASA). He currently provides consulting and training services primarily to municipalities and educational enterprises.

He currently resides in Akron Ohio working as a research engineer in tire composites research at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. O. Hayden Griffin Jr.:received his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1970 and 1971 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1980. Prior to joining the faculty of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as associate professor of engineering science and mechanics in September 1985 he was employed at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (Dahlgren Virginia) BF Goodrich Tire Group (Akron Ohio) the Bendix Advanced Technology Center (Columbia Maryland) and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (Laurel Maryland). He is currently an associate director of the Virginia Institute for Material Systems. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society for Composites. Zafer Gürdal:received his M.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1981 and his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985.
