An Integrated Blockchain Framework for Secure Data Sharing in IoT Fog Computing

The importance of secure data sharing in fog computing is increasing due to the growing number of Internet of Things(IoT)*** article addresses the privacy and security issues brought up by data sharing in the context of IoT fog *** suggested framework,called"BlocFogSec",secures key management and data sharing through blockchain consensus and smart *** existing solutions,BlocFogSec utilizes two types of smart contracts for secure key exchange and data sharing,while employing a consensus protocol to validate transactions and maintain blockchain *** process and store data effectively at the network edge,the framework makes use of fog computing,notably reducing latency and raising *** successfully blocks unauthorized access and data breaches by restricting transactions to authorized *** addition,the framework uses a consensus protocol to validate and add transactions to the blockchain,guaranteeing data accuracy and *** compare BlocFogSec's performance to that of other models,a number of simulations are *** simulation results indicate that BlocFogSec consistently outperforms existing models,such as Security Services for Fog Computing(SSFC)and Blockchain-based Key Management Scheme(BKMS),in terms of throughput(up to 5135 bytes per second),latency(as low as 7 ms),and resource utilization(70％to 92％).The evaluation also takes into account attack defending accuracy(up to 100％),precision(up to 100％),and recall(up to 99.6％),demonstrating BlocFogSec's effectiveness in identifying and preventing potential attacks.

A recover-then-discriminate framework for robust anomaly detection

Anomaly detection(AD) has been extensively studied and applied across various scenarios in recent years. However, gaps remain between the current performance and the desired recognition accuracy required for practical *** paper analyzes two fundamental failure cases in the baseline AD model and identifies key reasons that limit the recognition accuracy of existing approaches. Specifically, by Case-1, we found that the main reason detrimental to current AD methods is that the inputs to the recovery model contain a large number of detailed features to be recovered, which leads to the normal/abnormal area has not/has been recovered into its original state. By Case-2, we surprisingly found that the abnormal area that cannot be recognized in image-level representations can be easily recognized in the feature-level representation. Based on the above observations, we propose a novel recover-then-discriminate(ReDi) framework for *** takes a self-generated feature map(e.g., histogram of oriented gradients) and a selected prompted image as explicit input information to address the identified in Case-1. Additionally, a feature-level discriminative network is introduced to amplify abnormal differences between the recovered and input representations. Extensive experiments on two widely used yet challenging AD datasets demonstrate that ReDi achieves state-of-the-art recognition accuracy.

Blockchain is influencing the social media platforms by promising to solve the biggest issues of today, such as privacy concerns and content moderation, and the ability to provide a decentralized system for the management of social media platforms through cryptographic techniques and distributed structures. Conventionally, social media systems are based on central architectures that may indirectly solve the problems of data privacy and platform responsibility since there are increased threats, including identity theft and fake news spread across such systems. Blockchain has stepped up as an anti-centralized platform that allows multiple numbers of users to transact securely and authentically through P2P channels without a middleman. Here in this survey, we introduce a brief overview of the latest trends of the blockchain protocols and the interactions with the social media platforms, as well as present a systematic review of the related area. Specifically, the use case we consider and elaborate on is how blockchain can be applied to various types of social media services: smart contract-based content moderation platforms, user incentives using token economics, social media governance through decentralized autonomous organizations, and cross-chain connections. We then go further and offer a comprehensive literature review of blockchain incorporating main social media applications that cutting across them include identity, tokenization, and self-governance. The key points that can be derived from this review of the blockchain-enabled social media services and applications are also underlined here. We conclude this survey by listing the existing issues in the field, including scalability and compliance with the existing regulations, and suggesting the possible areas of research in this ever-evolving field. © 2013 IEEE.

Enhanced Acceleration for Generalized Nonconvex Low-Rank Matrix Learning

Matrix minimization techniques that employ the nuclear norm have gained recognition for their applicability in tasks like image inpainting, clustering, classification, and reconstruction. However, they come with inherent biases and computational burdens, especially when used to relax the rank function, making them less effective and efficient in real-world scenarios. To address these challenges, our research focuses on generalized nonconvex rank regularization problems in robust matrix completion, low-rank representation, and robust matrix regression. We introduce innovative approaches for effective and efficient low-rank matrix learning, grounded in generalized nonconvex rank relaxations inspired by various substitutes for the ?0-norm relaxed functions. These relaxations allow us to more accurately capture low-rank structures. Our optimization strategy employs a nonconvex and multi-variable alternating direction method of multipliers, backed by rigorous theoretical analysis for complexity and *** algorithm iteratively updates blocks of variables, ensuring efficient convergence. Additionally, we incorporate the randomized singular value decomposition technique and/or other acceleration strategies to enhance the computational efficiency of our approach, particularly for large-scale constrained minimization problems. In conclusion, our experimental results across a variety of image vision-related application tasks unequivocally demonstrate the superiority of our proposed methodologies in terms of both efficacy and efficiency when compared to most other related learning methods.

Dynamic Multi-Graph Spatio-Temporal Graph Traffic Flow Prediction in Bangkok:An Application of a Continuous Convolutional Neural Network

The ability to accurately predict urban traffic flows is crucial for optimising city ***,various methods for forecasting urban traffic have been developed,focusing on analysing historical data to understand complex mobility *** learning techniques,such as graph neural networks(GNNs),are popular for their ability to capture spatio-temporal ***,these models often become overly complex due to the large number of hyper-parameters *** this study,we introduce Dynamic Multi-Graph Spatial-Temporal Graph Neural Ordinary Differential Equation Networks(DMST-GNODE),a framework based on ordinary differential equations(ODEs)that autonomously discovers effective spatial-temporal graph neural network(STGNN)architectures for traffic prediction *** comparative analysis of DMST-GNODE and baseline models indicates that DMST-GNODE model demonstrates superior performance across multiple datasets,consistently achieving the lowest Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and Mean Absolute Error(MAE)values,alongside the highest *** the BKK(Bangkok)dataset,it outperformed other models with an RMSE of 3.3165 and an accuracy of 0.9367 for a 20-min interval,maintaining this trend across 40 and 60 ***,on the PeMS08 dataset,DMST-GNODE achieved the best performance with an RMSE of 19.4863 and an accuracy of 0.9377 at 20 min,demonstrating its effectiveness over longer *** Los_Loop dataset results further emphasise this model’s advantage,with an RMSE of 3.3422 and an accuracy of 0.7643 at 20 min,consistently maintaining superiority across all time *** numerical highlights indicate that DMST-GNODE not only outperforms baseline models but also achieves higher accuracy and lower errors across different time intervals and datasets.

Privacy-preserving filtering, control and optimization for industrial cyber-physical systems

Industrial cyber-physical systems closely integrate physical processes with cyberspace, enabling real-time exchange of various information about system dynamics, sensor outputs, and control decisions. The connection between cyberspace and physical processes results in the exposure of industrial production information to unprecedented security risks. It is imperative to develop suitable strategies to ensure cyber security while meeting basic performance *** the perspective of control engineering, this review presents the most up-to-date results for privacy-preserving filtering,control, and optimization in industrial cyber-physical systems. Fashionable privacy-preserving strategies and mainstream evaluation metrics are first presented in a systematic manner for performance evaluation and engineering *** discussion discloses the impact of typical filtering algorithms on filtering performance, specifically for privacy-preserving Kalman filtering. Then, the latest development of industrial control is systematically investigated from consensus control of multi-agent systems, platoon control of autonomous vehicles as well as hierarchical control of power systems. The focus thereafter is on the latest privacy-preserving optimization algorithms in the framework of consensus and their applications in distributed economic dispatch issues and energy management of networked power systems. In the end, several topics for potential future research are highlighted.

MLRT-UNet:An Efficient Multi-Level Relation Transformer Based U-Net for Thyroid Nodule Segmentation

Thyroid nodules,a common disorder in the endocrine system,require accurate segmentation in ultrasound images for effective diagnosis and ***,achieving precise segmentation remains a challenge due to various factors,including scattering noise,low contrast,and limited resolution in ultrasound *** existing segmentation models have made progress,they still suffer from several limitations,such as high error rates,low generalizability,overfitting,limited feature learning capability,*** address these challenges,this paper proposes a Multi-level Relation Transformer-based U-Net(MLRT-UNet)to improve thyroid nodule *** MLRTUNet leverages a novel Relation Transformer,which processes images at multiple scales,overcoming the limitations of traditional encoding *** transformer integrates both local and global features effectively through selfattention and cross-attention units,capturing intricate relationships within the *** approach also introduces a Co-operative Transformer Fusion(CTF)module to combine multi-scale features from different encoding layers,enhancing the model’s ability to capture complex patterns in the ***,the Relation Transformer block enhances long-distance dependencies during the decoding process,improving segmentation *** results showthat the MLRT-UNet achieves high segmentation accuracy,reaching 98.2% on the Digital Database Thyroid Image(DDT)dataset,97.8% on the Thyroid Nodule 3493(TG3K)dataset,and 98.2% on the Thyroid Nodule3K(TN3K)*** findings demonstrate that the proposed method significantly enhances the accuracy of thyroid nodule segmentation,addressing the limitations of existing models.

Investigating mobility patterns through crowd-sourced activity data

Investigating trip purposes represents an important phase of travel demand modeling which allows to correctly infer mobility patterns and to better understand travel behavior. Until now, researchers collected information on the motivation for carrying out a trip mainly through travel surveys. However, traditional methods of acquiring this type of information are challenging and expensive to implement;therefore, they are typically performed infrequently and with low sampling rates. These two occurrences do not always allow for adequate representation of the heterogeneity of trip purposes. This paper aims to investigate trip purposes through the joint processing of GPS-based data, such as Floating Car Data (FCD), and aggregated activity data available through open-source platforms, such as Google Popular Times (GPT), which provide information on the daily distribution of visits in a certain activity venue as well as the average visit duration based on aggregated data obtained from users who share their mobile phones geotraces. Through the application of clustering techniques on a FCD dataset containing trips carried out between September and November 2020 in the EUR district of Rome, Italy, we classify the trips as Home-Work trips and Not Home-Work trips, obtaining a total of 96 Origin-Destination matrices (one for every 15 minute time interval). Not Home-Work trips are further examined, exploiting 6 patterns obtained through the clustering of GPT activity data, and classified according to the arrival time at destination and the duration of their stopover. The obtained Origin-Destination matrices have been compared to values found in literature in terms of spatial and temporal flexibility to validate the results. © 2025, Aracne Editrice.
