Modern fault diagnosis faces an imbalance issue at both the sample and feature levels. A common approach is to combine balancing strategies with feature selection algorithms to address this problem. However, this may result in feature subsets that cannot accurately represent the true data distribution. This paper proposes an imbalanced fault diagnosis method called RPLFS-MOBPSO, which combines region purity (RP) with local feature selection to achieve class balance implicitly by partitioning local regions. RP is used as a new objective in the optimization process to achieve accurate fault detection. The adaptive reference point method from Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm III is employed to maintain a diverse and evenly distributed external archive. On both the simulated Tennessee Eastma (TE) benchmark datasets and the real bearing experimental bench datasets, the proposed method achieves the best results compared to two LFS methods and four imbalanced ensemble algorithms based on different balancing strategies. The autonomous number plate detection system plays a crucial role in modern transportation, law enforcement, and security infrastructure. Technical approaches using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision are actively researched to achieve ease of maintenance through real-time vehicle detection. The recent development has drastically improved the accuracy of object detection and recognition systems in deep neural networks. Using these techniques, vehicle number plates can easily be detected autonomously for vehicle identification and tracking. Here, we have used a custom-trained TensorFlow-based number plate detection method to autonomously detect vehicles using images captured by a smartphone, or surveillance camera. It showed an impressive mAP @ 0.5 of 95%, and demonstrated limitations in long-distance detection, leading us to designate it as the optimal vehicle detection model for accuracy. We designed and developed an autonomous number plate detection system for vehicle identification and tracking, which includes web-based, android-based, and embedded-based applications. In addition, we evaluated the proposed autonomous number plate detection system with real-time images and videos. The proposed system achieved real-time vehicle detection and tracking, boasting a commendable 90% detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

COVID-19 is one of the threats that came out of nowhere and literally shook the entire world. Various prediction techniques have been invented in a very short time. This study also develops a Deep Learning (DL) model which can predict the presence of COVID-19 and pneumonia by analyzing the X-ray images of human lungs. From Kaggle, a collection of X-ray images of the lungs is collected. Then, this dataset is preprocessed using two alternative methods. Some of the techniques include image enhancement and picture resizing. The two deep-learning models are then trained using the preprocessed dataset. A few more examples of DL algorithms include MobileNet and Inception-V3. The best model is then selected by validating the learned deep-learning models. As the epochs count increases during training and validation, the accuracy value for both models increases. The value of the loss increases as the number of epochs decreases. During the fourteenth validation period, the model generates a loss value of 0.32 for the MobileNet technique. During the first few training epochs, accuracy is lower, and by the fifteenth, it is close to 0.9. The Inception-V3 method produces a loss value of 0.1452 at the eleventh validation epoch, which is the lowest value. The greatest accuracy value of 0.9697 is obtained after the twelfth cycle of validation. The model that performs better and has lower loss values is then put through one last test. Inception-V3 is therefore selected as the top method for COVID-19 detection. The Inception-V3 system properly predicted each of the normal images and the COVID-19 images in the final test. Regarding pneumonia, it correctly predicted just one image out of 20 that are so small as to be disregarded. When a patient cannot afford to find a doctor for consultation, the DL model created in this work can be utilized as a preliminary test for COVID-19. The risks discussed in this document are related to smart printers/ fax/ photocopiers/ or e-mail-enabled smart devices, also known as "document centers,". These devices can be purchased outright or rented every month. When an item reaches its end of life, it is either donated to a non-profit organization or returned to the manufacturer (OEM) or supplier at the end of a lease arrangement. These network-interconnected devices have an inherent susceptibility that most IT operations teams or information security professionals are unaware of. This effort will raise awareness of the dangers of losing a company's data. This discussion will focus on reported vulnerabilities, previous discussions, and given the author's view on the potential danger. Create instructions for potential users on how to use and disassemble these devices safely to prevent losing sensitive data. Lastly, the technological structure of two potential attack vectors against a document center of an organization will be demonstrated in this study. The study was conducted in government as well as the private sector, medium-sized enterprises (300 employees of each entity) settings, outside of normal business hours, with special authorizations and engagement, limiting the scope to a minimal set of devices. © 2023 IEEE.

The intricacies and instability of introducing cryogenic propellants into the combustion system have piqued the curiosity of scientists studying the procedure. The latest innovation is utilizing data-driven machine learning and deep learning approaches to gain deeper insights into the related difficulties. However, the current work serves as a baseline for future research because relatively few studies have used data-driven methodologies to assess the temperature of liquid fuel injections in combustion systems. The performance of Linear Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees Regressor (ETR), Polynomial Regression (PR), Support Vector Regressor (SVR), Decision Tree Regressor (DTR), Gradient Boost Regressor (GBR), XGB Regressor (XGBoost), AdaBoost Regressor (ABR), K-Neighbors Regressor (KNR), Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM), Bi-LSTM (Bi-directional Long-Short Term Memory) has all been investigated in this study. The study also suggested a Fully Connected Neural Network (FCNN) to examine its performance and paired it with an Extra Tree Regressor (ETR). The coupled FCNN and Extra Tree Regressor outperform the other algorithms with a Mean Square Error (MSE) of 0.0000005062, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.00071148, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.00020672, and R-squared (R2) value of 0.99998689. Linear Regression, Polynomial Regression, and Support Vector Regressor are found to be the least-performing algorithms. The current work uses machine learning and deep learning methods to make data-driven decisions for liquid fuel injection in the combustion system. © The Author(s) 2025.

Enhancing road safety with DL vision: Do driver distraction alerts hold the key?

Driver distraction is a significant contributor to road accidents and traffic safety challenges. This study evaluates the performance of various YOLO models trained on a combination of custom and publicly available datasets, with their performance assessed using metrics such as mAP@50, precision, recall, F1-score, inference time, FPS, and model parameters. The aim is to determine the best trade-off between accuracy, speed, and computational efficiency, providing insights into the practical applicability of these models for distracted driving detection. Among the models, YOLOv8l achieves the highest accuracy with a mAP@50 of 0.921, precision of 0.911, recall of 0.895, and an F1-score of 0.899, making it suitable for scenarios prioritizing detection precision. YOLOv5m balances accuracy and efficiency, achieving a mAP@50 of 0.917 and an F1-score of 0.896, while maintaining moderate inference times. For real-time applications, YOLOv5n and YOLOv8n offer the fastest speeds, with inference times of 0.9 ms and FPS of 1111, at the cost of reduced accuracy. YOLOv8m provides a balance between performance and speed, achieving a mAP@50 of 0.915 and F1-score of 0.898, with an inference time of 3.4 ms and FPS of 294. A post-simulation survey reveals that participants find the visual warning system effective in mitigating driver distraction and enhancing perceived road safety. By integrating simulation data and user feedback, this study highlights the potential of advanced deep learning models like YOLO in improving driver assistance systems and promoting safer driving practices. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

The research on applications for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) including the investigation of submerged resources, gathering oceanographic data, conducting operational surveillance, and prevention from natural disasters is rapidly increasing. Traditional wireless sensor networks (TWSNs) are distinct from UWSNs. Routing protocols of TWSNs are also distinct from UWSNs routing protocols in terms of energy efficiency. Most of routing protocols have been developed to extract data from the ocean floor to the surface of waters. There are many challenges for indigenous designing of an efficient routing protocol for UWSNs, such as, design of reliable path for forwarding communicating data packets, managing the movement of nodes, configuration of sensor nodes, removing void communicating nodes and increasing the power efficiency of the system. This research focuses on designing a novel Machine learning-based multi-path reliable and energy-efficient routing protocol (M2RE2RP) for UWSNs. It will select an efficient path among the existing communication paths used by sensor nodes, which will ultimately increase the lifespan of the network. The simulation experiment results dictate that the proposed routing model M2RE2RP achieves better performance in terms of network throughput, end-to-end latency, total energy consumption and network lifetime. © 2023 IEEE.

The most valuable resource on the planet is no longer oil,but *** transmission of this data securely over the internet is another challenge that comes with its ever-increasing *** order to transmit sensitive information securely,researchers are combining robust cryptography and steganographic *** objective of this research is to introduce a more secure method of video steganography by using Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)for embedding encrypted data and an intelligent frame selection algorithm to improve video *** the previous approach,DNA was used only for frame *** this DNA is compromised,then our frames with the hidden and unencrypted data will be *** the frame selected in this way were random frames,and no consideration was made to the contents of *** data in this way introduces visible artifacts in *** the proposed approach rather than using DNA for frame selection we have created a fakeDNA out of our data and then embedded it in a video file on intelligently selected frames called the complex *** chaotic maps and linear congruential generators,a unique pixel set is selected each time only from the identified complex frames,and encrypted data is embedded in these random *** results demonstrate that the proposed technique shows minimum degradation of the stenographic video hence reducing the very first chances of visual ***,the selection of complex frames for embedding and creation of a fake DNA as proposed in this research have higher peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and reduced mean squared error(MSE)values that indicate improved *** proposed methodology has been implemented in Matlab.
