The complexity of the entire process of supply chain management (SCM) is quite cumbersome and traditional way of handling it is devoid of proper authentication and security and very often suffers from human errors in dealing with flaws in quality control process of SCM. While it may have started with shipment tracking, the outcome of using IoT on supply chains has spread to every link in the chain. For instance, manufacturers are employing Internet-enabled sensors in production to find product faults, resulting in higher-quality production runs. Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) is a defense countermeasure that exploits the exclusive, unrepeatable features of hardware components to generate distinct cryptographic keys or identifiers, typically for a semiconductor device like an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The distinctive proof of identity of IoT devices in the supply chain is employed by means of PUFs as inviolable IDs. Blockchain, the distributed, immutable ledger, on the other hand is the disruptive technology that provides higher security as compared to traditional centralized systems. The integration of PUF and blockchain proves to be quite interesting while handling the above issues of authentication. A smart contract on the blockchain is a software code that executes spontaneously as and when the conditions of the contract or agreement are satisfied. Hence after authentication process the results are fed to blockchain smart contract for the final validation. This paper presents a novel permissioned blockchain smart contract-based lightweight authentication scheme for SCM using PUF of IoT known as SPUFChain. Informal and formal security analysis (using AVISPA and BAN logic) of the proposed framework show its efficiency to resist several threat scenarios like man-in-the middle, non-repudiation, impersonation, replay attacks and many other security features as compared to other related schemes. Medical and transportation systems are only two examples of the many domains in which the IoT has found success. To meet the growing demand for continuous health surveillance that is affordable, noninvasive, and long-term, smart healthcare platforms have emerged as the most efficient and useful alternatives. To improve the reliability of IoT devices in smart cities, this study first establishes a cloud-assisted dependability evaluation approach, as reliability examination for IoT gadgets is a crucial part of data source authentication. In addition, a non-interactive zero-knowledge argument-based anonymous verification and key agreement system is developed to address the issue of user privacy being compromised during the process of verification. The proposed method may safeguard sensitive information collected by Internet of Things gadgets in smart cities. The experimental modeling shows that the proposed method outperforms competing approaches by a significant margin. Lastly, the suggested strategy is demonstrated to be more practical and secure than the previous schemes by comparison of effectiveness. © 2023 IEEE.

Human face detection from video sequences is a difficult problem in computer vision. Face detection is the process of determining the location of a face or faces in each frame of a video. Face detection in real-time videos is an ongoing under-investigated research problem. This paper proposes a new method for face detection in videos that significantly reduces the time required to detect faces. The method targets a Search Area Boundary (SAB) in the next frames that are determined based on the position of the detected faces in the current frame. The model will look for the face in a box that is slightly larger than the SAB from the previous frame. This means that it will not search the entire video frame for the face, so it will take less time to find the face. After a few frames, the method will begin searching the entire frame for new faces. The results show that the proposed method can save up to 73.5% of the time, especially when the SAB is small, with an accuracy degradation of no more than 7% in the best case. © 2023 IEEE.

Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have demonstrated remarkable performance in classification and regression tasks on RGB-based pathological inputs. The network's prediction mechanism must be interpretable to establish trust in the clinical routine. One principal approach to interpretation is feature attribution. Feature attribution methods identify the importance of input features for the output prediction. Building on the Information Bottleneck Attribution (IBA) method, we recognize the RGB's input regions with high mutual information with the network's output for each prediction. IBA identifies input regions that have sufficient predictive information. In this paper, we introduce "IBATree", a novel approach that combines IBA with decision trees to enhance both the interpretability and accuracy of DNNs in cancer cell classification. Our method leverages the information bottleneck framework to inject noise into feature maps and then isolates the most informative features for model predictions while maintaining high classification performance. We evaluated our proposed approach on three datasets - CNMC, ISBI2016, and BreaKHis - demonstrating competitive accuracy and producing clear interpretations. This makes IBATree particularly suitable for clinical applications, where understanding the rationale behind predictions is crucial. Our results show that IBATree provides reliable predictions and valuable insights into feature importance, paving the way for its application in various biomedical domains. © 2024 IEEE.

Introducing the emerging serverless paradigm into edge computing could avoid over- and under-provisioning of limited edge resources and make complex edge resource management transparent to application developers, which largely facilitates the cost-effectiveness, portability, and short time-to-market of edge applications. However, the computation/data dispersion and device/network heterogeneity of edge environments prevent current serverless computing platforms from acclimating to the network edge. In this paper, we address such challenges by formulating a container placement and data flow routing problem, which fully considers the heterogeneity of edge networks and the overhead of operating serverless platforms on resource-limited edge servers. We design an online algorithm to solve the problem. We further show its local optimum for each arriving container and prove its theoretical guarantee to the optimal offline solution. We also conduct extensive simulations based on practical experiment results to show the advantages of the proposed algorithm over existing baselines. © 2023 IEEE.

Fire detection is an important factor in improved safety in industrial and environmental conditions. The conventional flame detectors, largely relying on heat and smoke detectors, have drawbacks of time lag, low sensitivity, and low coverage when compared with our requirement in large industrial scenes and vast natural terrains vulnerable to fire occurrence. These systems are highly unsuitable for dynamic and high-risk situations as they require a higher accuracy and a faster reaction time for the alarms to be efficient as is now the case due to the aforementioned reasons. In an attempt to remedy these limitations, this research introduces a fire detection system using IoT and vision sensors that combines a RCAN with DDCNN. This architecture is tuned using the Crayfish Optimization Algorithm (COA), which seeks to improve model parameter to improve response time and accuracy. By incorporating feedbacks from sensors placed at its different parts and reading from the environment, the RCAN-DDCNN model can quickly identify the fire patterns and respond by activating the sprinkler systems as well as setting off alarms. The proposed system presents a superior option for fire detecting because it is scalable and adaptive and it provides high degree of precision, making it an optimal development in fire detection technology for industry and environment. The introduced approach attains higher accuracy as 99%. © 2025 IEEE.

The automatic detection of noisy channels in surface Electromyogram(sEMG)signals,at the time of recording,is very critical in making a noise-free EMG *** an EMG signal contaminated by high-level noise is recorded,then it will be useless and can’t be used for any healthcare *** this research work,a new machine learning-based paradigm is proposed to automate the detection of low-level and high-level noises occurring in different channels of high density and multi-channel sEMG signals.A modiﬁed version of mel fre-quency cepstral coefﬁcients(mMFCC)is proposed for the extraction of features from sEMG channels along with other statistical parameters i-e complexity coef-ﬁcient,hurst exponent,and root mean *** state-of-the-art classiﬁers such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),Ensemble Bagged Trees,Ensemble Sub-space Discriminant,and Logistic Regression are used to automatically identify an EMG channel either bad or good based on these extracted ***-based analyses of these classiﬁers have also been considered based on total classi-ﬁcation accuracy,prediction speed(observations/sec),and processing *** proposed method is tested on 320 simulated EMG channels as well as 640 experi-mental EMG *** is used as our main classiﬁer for the detection of noisy channels which gives a total classiﬁcation accuracy of 99.4%for simulated EMG channels whereas accuracy of 98.9%is achieved for experimental EMG channels.

Fair clustering problems have been paid lots of attention recently. In this paper, we study the k-Center problem under the group fairness and data summarization fairness constraints, denoted as Group Fair k-Center (GFkC) and Data Summarization Fair k-Center (DSFkC), respectively, in the massively parallel computational (MPC) distributed model. The previous best results for the above two problems in the MPC model are a 9-approximation with violation 7 (WWW 2022) and a (17 + ∊)-approximation without fairness violation (ICML 2020), respectively. In this paper, we obtain a (3 + ∊)- approximation with violation 1 for the GFkC problem in the MPC model, which is almost as accurate as the best known approximation ratio 3 with violation 1 for the sequential algorithm of the GFkC problem. Moreover, for the DSFkC problem in the MPC model, we obtain a (4 + ∊)-approximation without fairness violation, which is very close to the best known approximation ratio 3 for the sequential algorithm of the DSFkC problem. Empirical experiments show that our distributed algorithms perform better than existing state-of-the-art distributed methods for the above two problems. © 2024 International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems.

Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is a vital application of the Internet of Things (IoT) that plays a significant role in gathering a patient's healthcare information. This collected data helps special professionals like doctors or physicians analyze patients' health status to cure different diseases. However, collecting such information from an insecure channel can be threatening due to the potential security threats. Therefore, it is crucial to secure this sensitive information. This article proposes a secure and lightweight authentication protocol for WBAN. The devised protocol is scalable, secure, and lightweight compared to various relevant competing protocols. The informal security analysis shows that the designed protocol is lightweight, secure, and efficient in resisting various major attacks. The performance analysis demonstrates our protocol's supremacy over various competing protocols in terms of computation and communication costs, inducing efficiency of 20.3% and 12.3%, respectively. Moreover, the practical performance of the designed protocol from the network point of view is measured using the widely recognized NS3 simulation tool. © 2005-2012 IEEE.
