Computation offloading is widely used in vehicular edge computing (VEC) networks to satisfy the computational intensity and latency sensitivity requirements. However, many existing offloading algorithms do not comprehensively consider the dynamically changing characteristics of heterogeneous tasks within a roadside unit (RSU), resulting in tasks timeout and being dropped. In this paper, we design a competitive and cooperative computation offloading (C3O) model to reduce task execution latency. Specifically, when intensive heterogeneous tasks are generated, these vehicles jointly compete for the computing resource of a RSU, or they can also offload tasks to the task vehicle (TaV) with free computing resource. Meanwhile, We analyze the latency model of local execution and offloading to RSU or TaV execution and formulate a sequential task offloading decision problem, NP-hard. To address it, we propose a multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithm based on C3O (MARC3O) to intelligently determine the computation offloading policy for each vehicle according to the state of VEC networks. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce task execution latency and improve task completion rates compared with baseline schemes.

Although U-Net and its variants have achieved some great successes in medical image segmentation tasks, their segmentation performances for small objects are still unsatisfactory. Therefore, in this work, a new deep model, co-Net, is proposed to achieve more accurate medical image segmentations. The advancements of co-Net are mainly threefold: First, it incorporates an additional expansive path into U-Net to import an extra supervision signal and obtain a more effective and robust image segmentation by dual supervision. Then, a multi-dimensional self-attention mechanism is further developed to highlight salient features and suppress irrelevant ones consecutively in both spatial and channel dimensions. Finally, to reduce semantic disparity between the feature maps of the contracting and expansive paths, we further propose to integrate diversely-connected multi-scale convolution blocks into the skip connections, where several multi-scale convolutional operations are connected in both series and parallel. Extensive experimental results on three abdominal CT segmentation tasks show that (i) co-Net greatly outperforms the state-of-the-art image segmentation methods in medical image segmentation tasks;(ii) the proposed three advancements are all effective and essential for co-Net to achieve the superior performances;and (iii) the proposed multi-dimensional self-attention (resp., diversely-connected multi scale convolution) is more effective than the state-of-the-art attention mechanisms (resp., multi-scale solutions) for medical image segmentations. Cloud federation has enabled organizations to adopt collaborative services for sharing data and workloads across various platforms. Induction of federation members may require some verifications and predictions related to capacity and capability of these members for compensating such types of workloads. However, the nature of federated services require stringent methods to keep track of dynamically forming resource clusters for forecasting their behavior. Recent literature has mostly focused on the applicability of forecasting algorithms based on static datasets with little or no applicability to real time scenarios. Proposed research has utilized a real world application of Clouds4Coordination (C4C) federation system. A resource forecasting strategy using two well-known algorithms, namely Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) has been proposed for collaborative clouds used in Architecture, engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. The results have shown that no single algorithm is sufficient enough to deal with dynamic scenarios of cloud federation. Moreover, the selection of algorithm is highly dependent upon the type and duration of prediction required i.e. short term or long term as required by the user.

Image inpainting is currently a hot topic within the field of computer vision. It offers a viable solution for various applications, including photographic restoration, video editing, and medical imaging. Deep learning advancements, notably convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and generative adversarial networks (GANs), have significantly enhanced the inpainting task with an improved capability to fill missing or damaged regions in an image or video through the incorporation of contextually appropriate details. These advancements have improved other aspects, including efficiency, information preservation, and achieving both realistic textures and structures. Recently, visual transformers have been exploited and offer some improvements to image or video inpainting. The advent of transformer-based architectures, which were initially designed for natural language processing, has also been integrated into computer vision tasks. These methods utilize self-attention mechanisms that excel in capturing long-range dependencies within data;therefore, they are particularly effective for tasks requiring a comprehensive understanding of the global context of an image or video. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of the current image or video inpainting approaches, with a specific focus on transformer-based techniques, with the goal to highlight the significant improvements and provide a guideline for new researchers in the field of image or video inpainting using visual transformers. We categorized the transformer-based techniques by their architectural configurations, types of damage, and performance metrics. Furthermore, we present an organized synthesis of the current challenges, and suggest directions for future research in the field of image or video inpainting. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Smart-grid has evolved as a new electricity system which operates with regard to demand response. For making it reliable and to enhance its efficacy, consistency of electric supply is vital for which predicting smart grid stability has become crucial today. Concurrently, system and sensor failure might create several missing data. With the evolvement of DL based algorithms, several conventional researches have attempted to use it due to its innate nature in performing automatic feature extraction and learning. In spite of various endeavours, these studies lacked to effectively identify the missing variables which negatively impacted the prediction rate. Hence, this study intends to predict the stability of smart grid by the proposed LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) with AGS (Adaptive Grid Search). In the proposed framework, the LSTM layer is initially fed into convolution layer that is fortified with extraction of local features. Results from the convolution layer is later pooled to minimum dimensions. After this, the algorithms demand the selection of optimal parameters so as to control the outcomes. To satisfy this need of the algorithm, this study performs hyperparameter tuning with Adaptive Grid Search wherein the population is initially generated by Genetic Algorithm. In accordance with the population generation of GA and hyperparameter tuning of AGS, LSTM model gets trained to determine the stability and instability of the grid. The overall research performance is assessed through performance metrics namely accuracy, F1-score, recall, F-measure, MAE (Mean Absolute Error), RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) and MSE (Mean Square Error). This validation process will assist in proving the effective performance of the proposed system. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Medical diagnosis is one of the areas that has been greatly influenced by the progress of computer vision technologies. This study presents a unique approach for the detection and counting of blood cells in hematology: You Only Look One algorithm version 7 (YOLOv7). YOLO is designed for real-time object detection, making it ideal for applications such as blood vessel detection where speed is critical. The architecture allows the model to process images faster than other recognition models, such as R-CNN or SSD, which is very important for situations that require fast results, such as analysis automatic blood at clinical sites. The purpose of the proposed method is to overcome the shortcomings of conventional methods and to accurately and quickly identify blood cells in mechanical images. The YOLOv7 model has been utilizedbecause it can detect objects in real-time with highprecision and speed. The methodology for bloodcell counting involves the use of YOLOv7 togenerate bounding boxes around each detectedblood cell in an image, where the count of these bounding boxes directly corresponds to the number of cells. This advancement in hematology not onlyimproves blood cell analysis efficiency but also expedites the process of diagnosing and planningtreatment in various medical situations. This paper details how YOLOv7 was modified and adjusted to meet the specific requirements of hematologicalimage analysis, including training models, preparing datasets, and evaluating performance. The study also addresses the potential impact of this technology on clinical workflows, highlightinghow it might help medical practitioners make decisions more quickly and intelligently. Hematology analysis systems including YOLOv7 are able to improve laboratory diagnostics and help patients by providing better care and results. Mobile edge computing (MEC) as a potential technology can offload tasks from user devices (UDs) to network edges to alleviate network congestion and reduce task execution delay. However, computation offloading faces two challenges: 1) Poor wireless channel quality causes high transmission delay; 2) Computing tasks may be obtained by eavesdroppers (Eves) during task offloading. Therefore, we consider deploying intel-ligent reflecting surface (IRS) in MEC networks to increase data transmission rate and ensure data transmission security. This paper investigates the issue of joint computation offloading and resource allocation in a multi-IRS assisted MEC network. Our goal is to minimize task execution delay. To address this problem, we propose a multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm to determine the optimal offloading strategy for each UD. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce task execution delay and ensure data transmission security.

Cancer Liver cancer is difficult to detect and diagnose early. Machine learning has improved liver cancer diagnosis in recent years. This abstract describes a novel liver cancer detection and classification method using Autoencoder-Extreme Learning Machine (AE-ELM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technology. AE-ELM models extract features in the suggested method. The autoencoder-extreme learning machine AE-ELM technique learns high-level abstract characteristics from incoming data. AE-ELM extracts liver cancer-specific features by reducing the dimensionality of input data. A CNN model classifies the extracted features. CNNs are good at detecting spatial patterns in medical pictures like CT and MRI scans. The CNN model learns hierarchical representations of input information and classifies them into liver cancer subtypes or stages using various convolutional and pooling processes. AE-ELM and CNN are advantageous. First, AE-ELM decreases input data dimensionality to extract critical features without manual feature engineering. This simplifies feature selection and improves the model's capacity to handle big data. Second, the CNN model uses hierarchical convolutional processes to capture subtle patterns and spatial correlations in input data, enhancing liver cancer classification accuracy. The proposed liver cancer diagnostic method works in experiments. AE-ELM and CNN models outperform classic machine learning approaches and standalone CNN models. Improved liver cancer detection accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity help healthcare practitioners make quick and precise diagnosis. Finally, AE-ELM and CNN technologies can identify and classify liver cancer. This unique strategy uses both models to extract relevant characteristics and capture complicated patterns, improving liver cancer diagnosis accuracy and efficiency. To evaluate this approach's therapeutic promise and application in real-world healthcare settings, additional datasets are needed. © 2023 IEEE.

The risks discussed in this document are related to smart printers/ fax/ photocopiers/ or e-mail-enabled smart devices, also known as "document centers,". These devices can be purchased outright or rented every month. When an item reaches its end of life, it is either donated to a non-profit organization or returned to the manufacturer (OEM) or supplier at the end of a lease arrangement. These network-interconnected devices have an inherent susceptibility that most IT operations teams or information security professionals are unaware of. This effort will raise awareness of the dangers of losing a company's data. This discussion will focus on reported vulnerabilities, previous discussions, and given the author's view on the potential danger. Create instructions for potential users on how to use and disassemble these devices safely to prevent losing sensitive data. Lastly, the technological structure of two potential attack vectors against a document center of an organization will be demonstrated in this study. The study was conducted in government as well as the private sector, medium-sized enterprises (300 employees of each entity) settings, outside of normal business hours, with special authorizations and engagement, limiting the scope to a minimal set of devices.

Gene selection based on adaptive neighborhood-preserving multi-objective particle swarm optimization

The analysis of high-dimensional microarray gene expression data presents critical challenges, including excessive dimensionality, increased computational burden, and sensitivity to random initialization. Traditional optimization algorithms often produce inconsistent and suboptimal results, while failing to preserve local data structures limiting both predictive accuracy and biological interpretability. To address these limitations, this study proposes an adaptive neighborhood-preserving multi-objective particle swarm optimization (ANPMOPSO) framework for gene selection. ANPMOPSO introduces four key innovations: (1) a weighted neighborhood-preserving ensemble embedding (WNPEE) technique for dimensionality reduction that retains local structure;(2) Sobol sequence (SS) initialization to enhance population diversity and convergence stability;(3) a differential evolution (DE)-based adaptive velocity update to dynamically balance exploration and exploitation;and (4) a novel ranking strategy that combines Pareto dominance with neighborhood preservation quality to prioritize biologically meaningful gene subsets. Experimental evaluations on six benchmark microarray datasets and eleven multi-modal test functions (MMFs) demonstrate that ANPMOPSO consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods. For example, it achieves 100% classification accuracy on Leukemia and Small-Round-Blue-Cell Tumor (SRBCT) using only 3–5 genes, improving accuracy by 5–15% over competitors while reducing gene subsets by 40–60%. Additionally, on MMFs, ANPMOPSO attains superior hypervolume values (e.g., 1.0617 ± 0.2225 on MMF1, approximately 10–20% higher than competitors), confirming its robustness in balancing convergence and diversity. Although the method incurs higher training time due to its structural and adaptive components, it achieves a strong trade-off between computational cost and biological relevance, making it a promising tool for high-dimensional gene selection in bioinformatics. © 2025
