Top commodities are those that can stimulate growth or development in other sectors, both of which supply inputs and use output in the production process. Leading commodities have high rates of economic growth, relatively large distribution rates, high inter-sector linkages, and the ability to create high-added value. The aim of this research is to examine the leading commodities in Nagan Raya District, Aceh, Indonesia, in terms of agropolitan development. The research method is based on (1) descriptive analysis of agricultural commodity potential, (2) Location Quotient (LQ) analysis to determine commodity superiority, (3) Shift Share Analysis (SSA) to determine commodity development priority level, performance sub-district economy and its hierarchical structure based on agricultural commodity resources, and (4) priority analysis for the development of superior commodities. Darul Makmur sub-district has the highest agricultural production with 73,678 tons/year, followed by Beutong (39,514 tons/year), East Seunagan (36,369 tons/year), Tadu Raya (28,488 tons/year), and Seunagan (24,532 tons/year). This output contains oil palm, rubber, rice, corn, soybeans, cassava, long beans, kale, red chili, durian, banana, and papaya. Meanwhile, the results of the priority development of superior commodities analysis show that the districts of Kuala Pesisir, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang, and East Seunagan have the potential to be agropolitan agriculture developments in Nagan Raya. This is supported by positive proportional and regional share growth, as well as land's ability to provide the most superior commodities (15 commodities) compared to other sub-districts. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Assessment of Simple Adhesive Substrates for Quantifying Microplastics

Microplastics are a growing environmental concern, with a large body of evidence documenting substantial distribution of plastic material in virtually all environmental compartments. Countermeasures that help to bind, aggregate, or coalesce these distributed particles might result in lower human and animal exposures. Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) have been identified as a viable microplastic (MP) capture mechanism with a range of potential use conditions. As with any countermeasure, there is a need to evaluate potential solutions in terms of collection efficiency, cost, ease of installation, etc. Expanding on our previous work, spray-coated PSAs were investigated as submerged surfaces as tools to assess MP binding in aqueous dispersions. Resins containing two differing molecular weights of poly(2-ethylhexyl acrylate) PSA (92k and 950k), and a 50:50 by weight mixture of the two resins were applied as spray-coated substrates to compare the effect of resin composition on MP-adhesive binding. Thin films of PSA (92k 6 ± 1 μm, 950k 4 ± 2 μm, 50:50 BD 6.5 ± 1 μm) were sprayed on borosilicate glass slides using a commercial air brush. Polydisperse nylon-12 particles varying in size from 15-30 µm in diameter were dispersed in deionized water at concentrations between 0.01 and 5 mg mL -1 and agitated under ambient conditions to assess adhesive binding as quantitative comparisons of microparticle capture. Mixed assays were also performed comparing binding of common MP species including polyethylene (50, 200 µm), polystyrene (10 µm), and polyester fibers (1000 µm) to understand how varying composition, size, and form factor affect adsorption. The glass slide method showed increasing linear trends of particle binding with increased adhesive exposure time and MP concentration. The lower molecular weight 92K adhesive had lower viscosity, higher wettability for microplastics but also led to a less stable adhesive film complicating analysis. Origin of nonlinear photocurrents in chiral multifold semimetal CoSi unveiled by terahertz emission spectroscopy

Spectroscopic identification of distinct nonlinear photocurrents unveils quantum geometric properties of electron wave functions and the momentum-space topological structures. This is especially interesting, but still puzzling, for chiral topological semimetals with possibilities of hosting giant quantized circular photogalvanic effect. Here we report a comprehensive terahertz (THz) emission spectroscopic analysis of nonlinear photoconductivity of chiral multifold CoSi at 0.26 ∼ 1 eV. We find a large linear shift conductivity (17µA/V2), and confirm a giant injection conductivity (167µA/V2) as a consequence of strongly interfered nonquantized contributions from the vicinity of multifold nodes with opposite chiralities. The bulk injection current excited by the pump field with a complex wave vector is shown to carry both longitudinal and transverse components. Symmetry analyses further unveil weak nonlocal photon drag effect in addition to the photogalvanic effect. This work not only highlights chiral transition-metal monosilicides for midinfrared photovoltaic applications via various nonlinear optical channels, but also consolidates the THz spectroscopy for quantitative photovoltaic research.

Exceptional points(EPs)have been extensively explored in mechanical,acoustic,plasmonic,and photonic ***,little is known about the role of EPs in tailoring the dynamic tunability of optical devices.A specific type of EPs known as chiral EPs has recently attracted much attention for controlling the flow of light and for building sensors with better responsivity.A recently demonstrated route to chiral EPs via lithographically defined symmetric Mie scatterers on the rim of resonators has not only provided the much-needed mechanical stability for studying chiral EPs,but also helped reduce losses originating from nanofabrication imperfections,facilitating the in-situ study of chiral EPs and their contribution to the dynamics and tunability of ***,we use asymmetric Mie scatterers to break the rotational symmetry of a microresonator,to demonstrate deterministic thermal tuning across a chiral EP,and to demonstrate EP-mediated chiral optical nonlinear response and efficient electro-optic *** results indicate asymmetric electro-optic modulation with up to 17 dB contrast at GHz and CMOS-compatible voltage *** wafer-scale nano-manufacturing of chiral electro-optic modulators and the chiral EP-tailored tunning may facilitate new micro-resonator functionalities in quantum information processing,electromagnetic wave control,and optical interconnects.

The effect of visual advanced driver assistance systems on a following human driver in a mixed-traffic condition

Rapid development in vehicular technology has caused more automated vehicle control to increase on the roads. Studies showed that driving in mixed traffic with an autonomous vehicle (AV) had a negative impact on the time headway (THW) of conventional vehicles (CVs) (i.e., driven by humans). To address this issue, there is a need to equip CV with visual advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) that helps the driver maintain safe headway when driving near AVs. This study examines the perception of drivers using visual ADAS and their associated risk while driving behind the AV at constant and varying speeds. The preliminary results showed that while visual ADAS could help drivers keep the safe THW, it could affect drivers’ ability to react to emergencies. This implies that visual modality alone might not be sufficient and therefore requires some other feedback or intelligent transport systems to help drivers maintain safe driving in a mixed-traffic condition.

The escalating visibility of secure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerabilities in API security, as indicated in the compilation of OWASP Top 10 API Security Risks, highlights a noteworthy peril to sensitive data. This study explores IDOR vulnerabilities found within Android APIs, intending to clarify their inception while evaluating their implications for application security. This study combined the qualitative and quantitative approaches. Insights were obtained from an actual penetration test on an Android app into the primary reasons for IDOR vulnerabilities, underscoring insufficient input validation and weak authorization methods. We stress the frequent occurrence of IDOR vulnerabilities in the OWASP Top 10 API vulnerability list, highlighting the necessity to prioritize them in security evaluations. There are mitigation recommendations available for developers, which recognize its limitations involving a possibly small and homogeneous selection of tested Android applications, the testing environment that could cause some inaccuracies, and the impact of time constraints. Additionally, the study noted insufficient threat modeling and root cause analysis, affecting its generalizability and real-world relevance. However, comprehending and controlling IDOR dangers can enhance Android API security, protect user data, and bolster application resilience.

Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

An immobilized hydrogen-producing consortium investigated biohydrogen production from food waste using a combination of sodium alginate and cassava rhizome biochar. We investigated the effect of varying the biochar concentration from 0 to 3% and the size of immobilized cells from 1 to 7 mm. Immobilized cells were prepared using 50% (v/v) enriched hydrogen-producing consortium, 2% (w/v) sodium alginate, and 0 to 3% (w/v) cassava rhizome biochar. The optimal conditions for achieving the highest hydrogen production in the batch fermentation reactor were identified as a biochar concentration of 2% (w/v) and an immobilized cell size of 2 mm. The highest hydrogen yield, maximum hydrogen production rate, and lag time recorded were 0.69 mmol H2/g-COD, 0.02 mmol H2/g-COD.h, and 41.51 h, respectively. This research highlights the potential of cassava biochar technology for efficient biohydrogen production from food waste, contributing to renewable energy generation and sustainable waste management. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Biomedical question answering (QA) plays a crucial role in assisting researchers, healthcare professionals, and even patients in accessing and retrieving accurate and up-to-date information from the vast amount of biomedical knowledge available in literature. To enhance the efficiency of knowledge discovery and information retrieval, we investigate the efficacy of various pre-processing, model training, data augmentation, and ensemble methods and evaluate a range of advanced pre-trained models such as BioLinkBERT and GPT-4. Additionally, we explore data augmentation and ensemble methods to further improve system performance. In our participation in BioASQ Task 11b-Phase B, our systems achieved a top ranking in all four batches for the yes/no type of questions, in one out of four batches for factoid questions, and in two out of four batches for list-type questions. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
