One of the segmentation techniques with the greatest degree of success used in numerous recent applications is multi-level thresholding. The selection of appropriate threshold values presents difficulties for traditional methods, however, and, as a result, techniques have been developed to address these difficulties multidimensionally. Such approaches have been shown to be an efficient way of identifying the areas affected in multi-cancer cases in order to define the treatment area. Multi-cancer methods that facilitate a certain degree of competence are thus required. This study tested storing MRI brain scans in a multidimensional image database, which is a significant departure from past studies, as a way to improve the efficacy, efficiency, and sensitivity of cancer detection. The evaluation findings offered success rates for cancer diagnoses of 99.08%, 99.87%, 94%;97.08%, 98.3%, and 93.38% sensitivity;the success rates of in particular were 99.99%;98.23%, 99.53%, and 99.98%. © 2023 Slovene Society Informatika. An agent evacuation under fire-spreading conditions is simulated using an improved two-dimensional cellular automaton model to characterize exit-choosing behavior inside a room with multiple exits. The proposed model incorporates non-static fire spreading behavior to avoid major discrepancies between reality and simulation. A new fire spreading parameter is introduced to simulate agents' intelligent decision-making regarding movement, judgment of surrounding conditions, and action choices during fire evacuation. The overall agent behaviors during fire evacuation are also investigated, mainly to demonstrate the key role of the proposed fire spreading parameter in enabling agents to determine the fire location and size of the burning area in the early evacuation stage. The effects of agent distribution, density, fire location, spread speed, death toll, and total evacuation time on the evacuation process are also discussed in detail. Comparative analysis with previous works reveals notable results: the influence of the proposed fire parameter is markedly noticeable in reducing the average number of agents caught and killed by the spreading fire during evacuation. This reduction, in turn, could contribute to faster and safer escape during fire evacuation. The improved model can be applied to various fire evacuation scenarios and settings where multi-exit evacuation is required, such as stadiums, airports, or shopping malls. © 2023 IEEE.

Chatbot-based tools are becoming pervasive in multiple domains from commercial websites to rehabilitation applications. Only recently, an eleven-item satisfaction inventory was developed (the ChatBot Usability Scale, BUS-11) to help designers in the assessment process of their systems. The BUS-11 has been validated in multiple contexts and languages, i.e., English, German, Dutch, and Spanish. This scale forms a solid platform enabling designers to rapidly assess chatbots both during and after the design process. The present work aims to adapt and validate the BUS-11 inventory in Italian. A total of 1360 questionnaires were collected which related to a total of 10 Italian chatbot-based systems using the BUS-11 inventory and also using the lite version of the Usability Metrics for User eXperience for convergent validity purposes. The Italian version of the BUS-11 was adapted in terms of the wording of one item, and a Multi-Group Confirmatory Factorial Analysis was performed to establish the factorial structure of the scale and compare the effects of the wording adaptation. Results indicate that the adapted Italian version of the scale matches the expected factorial structure of the original scale. Alzheimer's disease is the most common age-related problem and progresses in different stages, from cognitively normal to early mild cognitive impairment, and severe dementia. This study investigates the predictive potential of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and its derived functional connectivity (FC) in understanding Alzheimer's progression. Leveraging deep learning and graph-based models, we introduce two key contributions: 1) a comparative analysis of rs-fMRI time points and FC for Alzheimer's prediction. 2) an innovative graph transformer variant incorporating self-clustering for enhanced prediction accuracy. Experiments on the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative dataset with 830 subjects reveal two notable conclusions. Firstly, rs-fMRI time points offer limited utility compared to functional network connectivity for transformer-based models, even when considering temporal information. Secondly, a clustering-based attention module proves effective for classifying brain networks in predicting Alzheimer's disease progression, providing valuable insights for future research and clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud-Native Technologies is essential for improving personalized mobile banking experiences. The limitations and errors of existing financial systems necessitate such integration. Existing systems often struggle to adapt to modern consumers dynamic tastes and expectations, resulting in unsatisfactory customer experiences. Identifying the gap, the proposed system revolutionizes mobile banking applications by leveraging AI algorithms such as machine learning and natural language processing within a microservices-based cloud infrastructure. As a result, the proposed system solves the limitations of outdated architectures by providing personalized and efficient services while addressing security issues. The study indicates considerable gains in terms of user pleasure, system scalability, and security robustness through an in-depth evaluation of the results. The results highlight AI's and Cloud-Native Technologies transformational potential in revolutionizing the landscape of tailored mobile banking experiences. The study provides helpful information to financial institutions looking to adopt innovation and fulfill the evolving needs of modern consumers. © 2024 IEEE.

During the past few years, the deployment and adoption of IoT in the world have increased significantly. The growth rate of IoT increases annually. Researchers today rate the security of IoT to determine its acceptance trend by the public. This paper answers five research questions that show the theme trends for the IoT development, the main challenges of IoT security, and the choice of simulators, emulators, and test-beds used to implement IoT scenarios. A comparison of the available tools/software/simulators that could run the IoT model is presented to give users insight to visualize the working concept of the IoT. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep metric learning techniques have been used for visual representation in various supervised and unsupervised learning tasks through learning embeddings of samples with deep networks. However, classic approaches, which employ a fixed distance metric as a similarity function between two embeddings, may lead to suboptimal performance for capturing the complex data distribution. The Bregman divergence generalizes measures of various distance metrics and arises throughout many fields of deep metric learning. In this paper, we first show how deep metric learning loss can arise from the Bregman divergence. We then introduce a novel method for learning empirical Bregman divergence directly from data based on parameterizing the convex function underlying the Bregman divergence with a deep learning setting. We further experimentally show that our approach performs effectively on five popular public datasets compared to other SOTA deep metric learning methods, particularly for pattern recognition problems. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

Recently, there has been significant progress in Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) image reconstruction, yet there remains room for enhancing both speed and quality in these reconstructions. Deep Learning (DL) offers a promising avenue due to its capacity to handle intricate nonlinear functions. This study introduces DL-based ECT image reconstruction model based on Residual UNet and termed as ECT_ResUNet. A sizable dataset containing permittivity distribution and corresponding capacitance measurements was created to train and evaluate the proposed model. The ECT_ResUNet processes modulated capacitance vectors, representing them as 66×66 images. The model’s effectiveness and practicality were assessed using unseen samples, demonstrating precise image reconstruction with an average Image Error (IE) of 0.0918 and Correlation Coefficient (CC) of 0.9527. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This study demonstrates the utilization of Machine Learning (ML) for network slice prediction, enabling the optimization of resources for diverse network slices. Traditional methods for network slice prediction often lack efficiency and result in inaccuracies. By leveraging ML algorithms such as Naive Bayes and Random Forest, an intelligent framework that automates network slice prediction is developed. This framework enhances network virtualization and management, facilitating resource allocation. The ML algorithms take real-time network conditions and usages, such as packet delay and smart city, as input and output for selecting the most suitable network slice. data analysis is further conducted to reveal the connections between the input parameters and how these parameters influence the selection of the accurate network slice. Network slicing plays a crucial role as it enables the customization of services and facilitates efficient scaling to meet the specific needs of different applications and industries. The accuracy scores of the employed ML algorithms were generally perfect, except for the KNN and SVM classifiers, which achieved an accuracy of 94.30% and 92.16%, respectively, for the prediction of network slices based on incoming network connections and usages. © 2024 IEEE.
