A biometric identifier, in contrast to other identifiers used for authentication, is a quantitative evaluation of an individual's physical attributes that is successfully used to confirm or validate the identification. Because of its remarkable and consistent texture variation, iris recognition is thought to be the most dependable biometric recognition. Concerns about security, authentication, and identification are growing in importance across all domains as technology advances daily. High-security applications use these unique patterns for iris recognition. To increase the security of biometric applications without jeopardizing individual privacy, this research suggests a novel FL technique for privacy-preserving iris detection. Traditional biometric systems rely on centralised data storage and processing, which threatens data security and misuse. Federated Learning: decentralized model training that allows multiple federated clients (like mobile devices or edge servers) to collaboratively train a global model without sharing their raw iris data. We explore how this architecture can be applied to iris detection systems, maintaining accuracy while mitigating privacy risks. Our method ensures that iris features are learned locally on individual devices, and only encrypted model updates are shared with the central server. To strengthen privacy, we incorporate differential privacy and secure aggregation techniques to prevent data leakage during model training. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework in maintaining high detection accuracy, low communication overhead, and robust privacy guarantees. © 2024 IEEE.

Cluster-based routing or Hierarchical is a widely recognized approach with particular benefits in terms of scalability and communication efficiency. In Wireless Sensor Networks supported IoT, the utilization of clustered routing is a cost-effective method of data collection and transmission, where nodes with the most energy remaining can be utilized to collect and transmit data. This paper proposed a soft Fuzzy C-Means Dynamic Clustering (FCM-DC) Approach. A new Cluster Head (CH) selection technique was presented also. The proposed model was compared with an existing cluster based routing protocol, LEACH protocol, and LEACH-C protocol. The proposed FCM-DC model reduce the packet delay about 16% in 50 nodes scenario and 86% in 100 nodes scenario compared with LEACH. © 2024 IEEE.

Within the electronic design automation(EDA) domain, artificial intelligence(AI)-driven solutions have emerged as formidable tools, yet they typically augment rather than redefine existing methodologies. These solutions often repurpose deep learning models from other domains, such as vision, text, and graph analytics, applying them to circuit design without tailoring to the unique complexities of electronic circuits. Such an “AI4EDA” approach falls short of achieving a holistic design synthesis and understanding,overlooking the intricate interplay of electrical, logical, and physical facets of circuit data. This study argues for a paradigm shift from AI4EDA towards AI-rooted EDA from the ground up, integrating AI at the core of the design process. Pivotal to this vision is the development of a multimodal circuit representation learning technique, poised to provide a comprehensive understanding by harmonizing and extracting insights from varied data sources, such as functional specifications, register-transfer level(RTL) designs, circuit netlists,and physical layouts. We champion the creation of large circuit models(LCMs) that are inherently multimodal, crafted to decode and express the rich semantics and structures of circuit data, thus fostering more resilient, efficient, and inventive design methodologies. Embracing this AI-rooted philosophy, we foresee a trajectory that transcends the current innovation plateau in EDA, igniting a profound “shift-left” in electronic design methodology. The envisioned advancements herald not just an evolution of existing EDA tools but a revolution, giving rise to novel instruments of design-tools that promise to radically enhance design productivity and inaugurate a new epoch where the optimization of circuit performance, power, and area(PPA) is achieved not incrementally, but through leaps that redefine the benchmarks of electronic systems' capabilities.

Pneumothorax is a life-threatening and urgent chest disease than can be detected using Chest X-Ray (CXR) image. CXR images are low resolution and diagnosis of pneumothorax based on them is error prone. Deep learning-based computer aided diagnosis systems can improve diagnosis performance of pneumothorax. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are default networks in deep learning-based medical image process. However, CNNs fail to capture long range features. On the other side, Transformer are proposed to exploit long range feature, but they cannot capture local features. In this paper, we propose a general method with a convolution and a transformer module which can classify CXR images to diagnose pneumothorax by extracting local features, global features and global features attended by local ones using a novel architecture. Results show that the proposed method outperforms base architectures and the other previous works. © 2023 IEEE.

According to ITU-R P.676-12, a modified prediction model of mmWave atmospheric attenuation suitable for tropical areas is proposed in this paper, named AA-mmWave. Combined with Malaysia's air humidity, temperature, and atmospheric pressure measured data in 2020 and 2021 via sensors, the mmWave atmospheric attenuation characteristic curve below 57GHz is simulated and calculated. The results show that the attenuation rate generally increases with frequency, especially from 55GHz to 57GHz, which increases until reaching the highest point of 5.937dB/km. Additionally, the atmospheric attenuation rate of a mmWave is inversely proportional to temperature and pressure. The lowest value of attenuation rate at 32°C achieves 0.3157 dB/km. Finally, there is a proportional correlation between water vapour density and mmWave atmospheric attenuation rate. This finding has essential and indelible reference value for developing mmWave transmission technology in the tropical region. © 2023 IEEE.

As global digitization continues to grow, technology becomes more affordable and easier to use, and social media platforms thrive, becoming the new means of spreading information and news. Communities are built around sharing and discussing current events. Within these communities, users are enabled to share their opinions about each event. Using Sentiment Analysis to understand the polarity of each message belonging to an event, as well as the entire event, can help to better understand the general and individual feelings of significant trends and the dynamics on online social networks. In this context, we propose a new ensemble architecture, EDSAEnsemble (Event Detection Sentiment Analysis Ensemble), that uses Event Detection and Sentiment Analysis to improve the detection of the polarity for current events from Social Media. For Event Detection, we use techniques based on Information Diffusion taking into account both the time span and the topics. To detect the polarity of each event, we preprocess the text and employ several Machine and Deep Learning models to create an ensemble model. The preprocessing step includes several word representation models: raw frequency, TFIDF, Word2Vec, and Transformers. This systematic review seeks to evaluate the impact of CyRIS in ascertaining accurate implementation of projects with a primary focus on the merits of its functionalities. Core to the study is the view that CyRIS-driven project implementation reduces the risks of inaccuracy to an acceptable level. Although CyRIS is an extensively researched area in cyber security, a comprehensive review of subcategories, specifically, the accurate implementation of projects using the tool remains understudied. The proposed systematic review of literature provides insights and future directions from selected databases, including ScienceDirect, Springer Journals, SAGE Journals, and Wiley Online Library. Moreover, the limitations and strengths of each article collected are assessed using the PRISMA model to identify risks of bias. The research, which consists of journal articles, conferences, and symposium papers, is analyzed using "Cyber-Range Instantiation systems and accurate implementation of projects"as the key phrase and "Cyber-Risk Models", "Cyber Range Instantiation", and "Cyber Security Training", and "Accurate Implementation of Projects"as the keywords. The findings of the study will bridge the awareness gap in using CyRIS-led Cyber-Risk Models to execute accurate training scenarios, improve weaknesses of implementation, simulate real-time attack scenarios, and highlight existing gaps as well as prospects for future research. © 2023 IEEE.

In response to growing security concerns and the increasing demand for face recognition (FR) technology in various sectors, this research explores the application of deep learning techniques, specifically pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models, in the field of FR. The study harnesses the power of five pre-trained CNN models—DenseNet201, ResNet152V2, MobileNetV2, SeResNeXt, and Xception—for robust feature extraction, followed by SoftMax classification. A novel weighted average ensemble model, meticulously optimized through a grid search technique, is introduced to augment feature extraction and classification efficacy. Emphasizing the significance of robust data pre-processing, encompassing resizing, data augmentation, splitting, and normalization, the research endeavors to fortify the reliability of FR systems. Methodologically, the study systematically investigates hyperparameters across deep learning models, fine-tuning network depth, learning rate, activation functions, and optimization methods. Comprehensive evaluations unfold across diverse datasets to discern the effectiveness of the proposed models. Key contributions of this work encompass the utilization of pre-trained CNN models for feature extraction, extensive evaluation across multiple datasets, the introduction of a weighted average ensemble model, emphasis on robust data pre-processing, systematic hyperparameter tuning, and the utilization of comprehensive evaluation metrics. The results, meticulously analyzed, unveil the superior performance of the proposed method, consistently outshining alternative models across pivotal metrics, including Recall, Precision, F1 Score, Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), and Accuracy. Notably, the proposed method attains an exceptional accuracy of 99.48% on the labeled faces in the wild (LFW) dataset, surpassing erstwhile state-of-the-art benchmarks. The challenge of bankruptcy prediction, critical for averting financial sector losses, is amplified by the prevalence of imbalanced datasets, which often skew prediction models. Addressing this, our study introduces the innovative hybrid model XGBoost+ANN, designed to leverage the strengths of both ensemble learning and artificial neural networks. This model integrates a comprehensive set of features with parameters optimized through genetic algorithms, eschewing traditional feature selection approaches. Our research focuses on an unbalanced dataset of Polish companies and reveals that the XGBoost+ANN model, in particular, exhibits outstanding performance. Optimized using genetic algorithms and without feature selection, this model achieved the highest AUC (0.958), sensitivity (0.752), and accuracy (0.983) scores, surpassing other models in our study. This remarkable outperformance, along with the robust results, marks a substantial advancement in the field of bankruptcy prediction. It underscores the efficacy of our approach in addressing the persistent challenge of data imbalance, offering a more reliable and accurate solution for financial risk assessment. © 2013 IEEE.

A systematic Literature Review on the Security Attacks and Countermeasures Used in Graphical Passwords

This systematic literature review delves into the dynamic realm of graphical passwords, focusing on the myriad security attacks they face and the diverse countermeasures devised to mitigate these threats. The core objective of this paper is to identify existing security threats to graphical password schemes and the corresponding countermeasures developed to mitigate these attacks. The study process begins by identifying the usable databases and search engines to identify all the relevant resources. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were carefully selected to prioritize the study, focusing mostly on attacks and countermeasures related to graphical password schemes between 2009 and 2023. After thorough identification and selection progress, 59 studies met all the criteria. Among these studies, 47 mentioned shoulder surfing as a threat to graphical password schemes, while 20 discussed brute force attacks. Additionally, there were 21 papers on dictionary attacks, 13 on smudge attacks, spyware attacks, and social engineering, and 19 that discussed guessing attacks as threats to graphical password schemes. Furthermore, the papers identified several other attacks, including frequency of occurrence analysis attacks, video recording, eavesdropping, computer vision, sonar, and image gallery attacks, with the corresponding numbers of papers being 9, 17, 5, 2, 2, and 1, respectively. The results also highlight the countermeasures proposed in the study papers to mitigate the aforementioned attacks. Among the various countermeasures identified, most revolve around randomization, obfuscation, and password space complexity as the most commonly used techniques for enhancing the security of graphical password schemes. © 2013 IEEE.
