Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) is RNA retrovirus, which causes CD3 + and CD4 + T-cell type leukemia and demyelinating diseases, like tropical spastic myelopathy. The replicative stage of the virus is one of the critical stages for the development of the disease. At present, there are no approved therapeutic agents targeting HTLV. The HTLV mechanism of malignant cell growth in adult T-cell leukemia (ATL)/lymphoma, and the HTLV-PR has been an attractive target for anticancer drug design. In comparison with other retroviruses, HTLV also encodes protease (PR) enzyme which is essential for maturation. Both the HIV and HTLV proteases show high structural similarity but known inhibitors of HIV-PR are not able to inhibit the HTLV-PR, while comparing the binding pocket of both proteases, MET37 of HTLV shows repulsive role with known HIV inhibitors. Functional analysis of M37A mutation clearly shows that MET37 is highly important for the protease function. Available inhibitors were tested against the HTLV-PR binding pocket and failed to interact with MET37. Screening of similar libraries of known compounds provides better interactions with MET37 and further validation within vivoandin vitrostudies on these screened compounds will provide more strength in discovering potent inhibitor for HTLV-PR.

This paper presents an efficient method for the design of M-channel oversampled warped cosine-modulated filter banks. The method consists in filter prototype design for synthesis filter bank using optimization procedure, which minimizes filter bank overall distortion transfer function. Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) allows Internet real-time applications to request a specific end-to-end Quality of service (QoS) for data stream before they start transmitting data. In this paper firstly an overview of RSVP is presented. After that the different quality of services available and the relation between QoS and RSVP have been explained. The fundamentals of RSVP as a protocol is discussed. The performance issues and benchmarking for planned portion architecture at the department of computer Engineering, Çankaya University has been given next. The experimental results and discussions conclude this paper. In this paper, OPNET network simulation tool has been used. Under given architecture and protocol, performance of quality of service implications has been carried out.

He joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in 1991 where he was named a University Faculty Scholar in 1999 and promoted to Full Professor in 2001. Since August 2001 he has been a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor of Mathematics at Colorado State University. His current interests are in communication networks and optimization methods. He coauthored the best-selling book An Introduction to Optimization 2nd Edition Wiley-Interscience 2001. He received the NSF CAREER Award in 1995 and the ASEE Frederick Emmons Terman Award in 1998. He coauthored a paper that was awarded Best Paper in the journal Computer Networks 2003. Professor Chong is a Fellow of the IEEE. He was founding chairman of the IEEE Control Systems Society Technical Committee on Discrete Event Systems and until recently served as an IEEE Control Systems Society Distinguished Lecturer. He has been on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. He is currently on the editorial board of the journal Computer Networks. Solution techniques for Markov decision problems rely on exact knowledge of the transition rates, which may be difficult or impossible to obtain. In this paper, we consider Markov decision problems with uncertain transition rates represented as compact sets. We first consider the problem of sensitivity analysis where the aim is to quantify the range of uncertainty of the average per-unit-time reward given the range of uncertainty of the transition rates. We then develop solution techniques for the problem of obtaining the max-min optimal policy, which maximizes the worst-case average per-unit-time reward. In each of these problems, we distinguish between systems that can have their transition rates chosen independently and those where the transition rates depend on each other. Our solution techniques are applicable to Markov decision processes with fixed but unknown transition rates and to those with time-varying transition rates.

We propose a level set method-based framework for the conceptual design of compliant *** this method,the compliant mechanism design problem is recast as an infinite dimensional optimization problem,where the design variable is the geometric shape of the compliant mechanism and the goal is to find a suitable shape in the admissible design space so that the objective functional can reach a *** geometric shape of the compliant mechanism is represented as the zero level set of a one-higher dimensional level set function,and the dynamic variations of the shape are governed by the Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential *** application of level set methods endows the optimization process with the particular quality that topological changes of the boundary,such as merging or splitting,can be handled in a natural *** making a connection between the velocity field in the Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equation with the shape gradient of the objective functional,we go further to transform the optimization problem into that of finding a steady-state solution of the partial differential *** the above-mentioned methodological issues,some numerical examples together with prototypes are presented to validate the performance of the method.

The paper concerns the theoretical and practical problems of computer aided modeling and energy analysis of newly designed and existing buildings and presents the new results of development of the system MEA (modeling and Energy Analysis). The factors are pointed out determining the development of the program package MEA. The paper describes the functionality of the created and extended program tools, the methods of construction of the integrated geometric models and analysis of the building model and its database, the data structures used in different designing stages, the user interface, the variant design procedures based on heuristic principles. An example of the analysis and the evaluation of the design solutions of the building under renovation based on energy and economical criterions are presented.

The paper considers the methods of improving the accuracy of measurements of low-intensity electromagnetic radiation of the bio-objects in mm- range carried out with the use of high-sensitivity radiometric equipment with the reference noise generator included into its structure. The main sources of uncertainty of measurement are determined. It is shown that with the help of a reference noise generator having the power comparable with radiation power of bio-objects, it is possible to decrease essentially the uncertainty of measurement and to register accurately the peculiarities of radiation spectrum of the living objects.

The relationship is investigated between test data compression and power dissipation during scan testing. It is shown how combining a proposed symmetric coding scheme and a weighted scan latch reordering (W-SLR) algorithm allows efficient exploration of the scan power and test data compression solution space. This is achieved by reducing and balancing the transition activity in the scan-in and scan-out sequences. This will impact the test data compression, which depends only on the scan-in sequence, and the overall scan power dissipation, which depends on the scan-in and scan-out sequences. Trade-off analysis using ISCAS89 benchmark circuits shows that, by employing the proposed symmetric coding scheme and varying a weighting parameter in the W-SLR algorithm, the embedded core designer can easily and explicitly control the scan power and volume of test data. The proposed asymmetric/symmetric code transformation is equally applicable to (and thus it maintains its benefits) any asymmetric 'run length' coding scheme.

We present a new entropy based method for minimization of sum-of-product (SOP) expressions of switching functions. Unlike the recent results which utilize binary decision trees (DTs), we study the minimization procedure as a heuristic search based on information measures on the free pseudo ternary DTs. The main contribution of this paper is an experimental justification of the entropy based method that yields the extreme improvements compared to some recent results on application of information theory methods for SOP minimization of switching functions. In most cases, we obtained that the quality of minimization with our minimizer InfoMin-2 is the same as that produced by ESPRESSO package, but is often performed faster. © 1999 IEEE.

In modern circuit design, the Shannon decomposition of switching functions is widely used. On the other hand, in information theory of telecommunication, the Shannon entropy used as a measure to represent the information in numerical values, is a key notion. In this paper, we relate these two concepts, belonging to different areas, into an approach to the minimisation of exclusive-or sum-of-products (AND/EXOR) expressions for switching functions. The Shannon decomposition, and the closely related Davio decomposition for AND/EXOR expressions are interpreted in terms of basic concepts in the information theory. Thanks to that, we have proposed an entropy based strategy for minimization of AND/EXOR expressions. We have provided a comparison and an experimental verification of this strategy with some known heuristic minimization strategies using benchmarks. In some cases, our program Info-EXOR produces extremely better results. Moreover, the information theory interpretation of classical decomposition of switching functions offers a new point of view to the existing design styles. © 1999 IEEE.
