Applying Bayesian belief in LoRa: smart parking case study

With the popularity of LoRa, many IoT applications are now being realized with this Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology. Apart from ensuring low power and long-range communications, LoRa is also interference-free and hence an obvious choice for applications in urban scenarios. We dedicate our study to analyze and infer the impact of LoRa parameters like SF (Spreading Factor), BW (Bandwidth), CR (Coding Rate) on network performance metrics like delay, throughput for a smart parking scenario. Suited to the smart parking case study, we also present network performance observations for varied LOS settings (Line-of-Sight), NON-LOS, and obstruction. We try to identify the most significant parameters under different network conditions and determine the relationship among them through canonical correlation through our article. We also propose a Bayesian belief network to infer the best possible combination of LoRa parameters for achieving high-quality network efficiency under the environment scenarios. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Public transport systems often face challenges related to reliability and efficiency, leading to inconvenience and uncertainty for passengers. Existing solutions for real-time bus monitoring typically rely on expensive Internet of Things (IoT) components. This paper presents Track N Go, a cost-effective alternative for real-time monitoring of public buses and taxis using mobile phone location data. The system utilizes a robust backend system built with Java and *** for the user interface. Integration of GPS via the Map Box API and Firebase database ensures accurate location tracking. Track N Go provides accurate real-time monitoring, addressing challenges associated with public transport and improving overall urban mobility. The system enhances convenience and peace of mind for passengers by delivering reliable and user-centric solutions. The evaluation of Track N Go demonstrates its effectiveness in improving urban mobility and transit services. By offering a reliable and cost-effective solution for real-time bus monitoring, Track N Go aims to streamline daily commutes and make public transport more efficient and predictable. © 2024 IEEE.

Urban heat island (UHI) effects, especially in highly urbanised areas, and greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are two elements that accelerate global climate change (GCC). Sustainable city planning and modification may benefit from the quantification of the surface UHI (SUHI) effect utilising land surface temperature (LST), local climate zones (LCZ), and deep learning methods like convolutional neural networks (CNN) and pix2pix. The findings show that socioeconomic variables account for 12–20% of variability in UHI intensity. In general, the contribution rate of urban economic scale is higher than that of population and industrial structure variables. The increase in urban economic expansion increased summertime heat discomfort. This research propose novel method in socioeconomic analysis based on urban heat pattern analysis with public healthcare system using decision-making with DL (deep learning) model. Input is collected as urban heat pattern dataset and processed for noise removal and normalisation. This data has been features are extracted and classified using convolutional fuzzy Q-Gaussian neural network and variational K-C-means regressive learning. The simulation analysis has been carried out based on training accuracy, average precision, recall, and F-measure. The proposed model attained average precision was 94%, recall was 90%, training accuracy was 97%, and F1-score was 92%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The classification of walnuts in the dry areas of Ganquan Township, Awati County, Xinjiang, is investigated in this research using traditional approaches, remote sensing photos taken by satellite, and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Thorough field sampling and the collecting of Landsat-8 Level-2 data were necessary for correct analysis due to the different environmental features of the research region, which presented major hurdles. Despite some early difficulties, CNN design revisions led to significant gains in classification accuracy. These modifications included AlexNet, VGG, GoogleNet, ResNet, and EfficientNetV2. When compared to more traditional approaches, ResNet and EfficientNetV2 stood up as the most successful models. Nevertheless, challenges including computational complexity and low-resolution imaging highlight the necessity for more research to improve detection efficiency without sacrificing accuracy. The study emphasises the need to keep looking for new ways to analyse and monitor crops, and it suggests that combining remote sensing with advanced machine learning methods could help improve precision agriculture management and increase crop yields in dry areas. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a critical pathogen in healthcare-associated infections, demands new insights into underlying genetic mechanisms. This study aimed to identify key regulatory genes contributing to multidrug resistance (MDR) through a comprehensive analysis of gene expression in clinical isolates. RNA-Seq data from 246 clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa was analyzed using Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) to construct co-expression networks. Modules of co-expressed genes were identified, and hub genes with high connectivity were selected, focusing on those within and across modules, including the largest module enriched with resistance-related genes. Pathway enrichment was performed using STRING and ShinyGO, highlighting key resistance-associated pathways. Pathway enrichment analysis of hub genes identified polA as a central player in DNA repair and replication processes, crucial for bacterial survival under antibiotic stress. In addition to polA, other highly connected hub genes, such as dnaB, tatC, and ppnK, were enriched in pathways including protein transport and mismatch repair. Within the turquoise module, hub genes like dnaA, uvrD, and gyrA were primarily involved in ATP-binding, ligase activity, and biosynthetic processes, essential for antibiotic resistance. Network analysis further emphasized the centrality of polA and its role in bridging multiple resistance pathways, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. This research highlights polA and other critical hub genes as key regulatory elements within the MDR networks of P. aeruginosa, playing essential roles in pathways vital for bacterial survival. The identification of these genes provides promising biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets to counteract MDR in clinical settings. © 2025 IEEE.

Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs), have a wide range of applications in both civilian and military settings. Although, prevailing routing protocols are effective in well-connected networks, they struggle in sparse networks. To address this issue in FANETs, a new geographic routing method, utilizing a delay-tolerant routing protocol, is proposed in this paper. The proposed method combines position routing and delay tolerant network (DTN) to minimize routing errors. Here, beacons are transmitted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UA Vs) acting as ferries to inform about their succeeding anchor position to other nodes. The node receiving the beacon determines the closest ferry node and base station to the destination. Using the store-carry and forward approach, each node in the network handles sparse networks. Here, we focused to achieve low latency and have developed a novel communication protocol with two options to emphasize the need for lower latency and routing overhead when delivering data. Data collected by searching UAVs is sent to the base station using the ferry. The proposed model is validated using simulated scenarios, which show improved packet delivery, decreased end-to-end delay, and decreased overhead. The study highlights the importance of using communication methods that have lower latency and routing overhead to deliver data efficiently. © 2023 IEEE.

This article provides a vision of combining Wireless Isochronous Real Time (WIRT) in-X Subnetworks with the Information Centric Networking framework. Here, the advantages of ICN over traditional IP-based networks are discussed in the context of WinXS implementation. A novel privacy preserving naming scheme along with an ICN packet structure and associated communication protocol are proposed for WinXS. The proposed scheme is tested on the AVISPA and NS3 simulation tools and it is found that the scheme satisfies the WinXS security and efficiency requirements, respectively © 2024 IEEE.

Automated reading of license plate and its detection is a crucial component of the competent transportation system. Toll payment and parking management e-payment systems may benefit from this software’s features. License plate detection and identification algorithms abound, and each has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. computer vision has advanced rapidly in terms of new breakthroughs and techniques thanks to the emergence and proliferation of deep learning principles across several branches of AI. The practice of automating the monitoring process in traffic management, parking management, and police surveillance has become much more effective thanks to the development of Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR). Even though license plate recognition (LPR) is a technology that is extensively utilized and has been developed, there is still a significant amount of work to be done before it can achieve its full potential. In the last several years, there have been substantial advancements in both the scientific community’s methodology and its level of efficiency. In this era of deep learning, there have been numerous developments and techniques established for LPR, and the purpose of this research is to review and examine those developments and approaches. In light of this, the authors of this study suggest a four-stage technique to automated license plate detection and identification (ALPDR), which includes, image pre-processing, license plate extraction, character segmentation, and character recognition. And the first three phases are known as "extraction," "preprocessing," and "segmentation," and each of these processes has been shown to benefit from its own unique technique. There has been a lot of study on the possibility of deducing aspects of a person’s character from their handwriting. In this piece, we’ll look at the different personality qualities and how they might be utilized to make an evaluation. The report includes a dataset showing a correlation between several traits of personality. The Big Five Personality Traits are mapped using handwritten personality data. It was suggested that a comparison table should be used to spot distinctive character quirks. The article includes a review of previous studies and an assessment of the current status of the topic.
