This two-part paper investigates the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and in particular machine learning (ML) to the study of wireless propagation channels. In Part I, we introduced AI and ML as well as provided a comprehensive survey on ML enabled channel characterization and antenna-channel optimization, and in this part (Part II) we review state-of-the-art literature on scenario identification and channel modeling here. In particular, the key ideas of ML for scenario identification and channel modeling/prediction are presented, and the widely used ML methods for propagation scenario identification and channel modeling and prediction are analyzed and compared. Based on the state-of-art, the future challenges of AI/ML-based channel data processing techniques are given as well. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Comparator-based gene regulatory network designs for control of expression

We present comparator-based gene network designs for feedback control of the concentration of gene products. Two gene circuit designs are proposed, each of which compares concentrations of an input transcription factor (the reference input) with the protein product of a target gene (the process output). These designs employ a genetic relay switch and a shifted subtractor as components of a discrete comparator circuit and a bistable comparator circuit, respectively. Numerical simulation results illustrate the potential effectiveness of the designed controllers. © 2018

Photonic spin Hall effect is a manifestation of spin-orbit interaction of light and can be measured by a transverse shift δ of photons with opposite spins. The precise measurement of transverse shifts can enable many spin-related applications, such as precise metrology and optical sensing. However, this transverse shift is generally small (i.e. δ/λ -1, λ is the wavelength), which impedes its precise measurement. To-date proposals to generate giant spin Hall effect (namely with δ/λ > 102) have severe limitations, particularly its occurrence only over a narrow angular cone (with a width of ∆0 70◦ by exploiting the interface between free space and uniaxial epsilon-near-zero media. The underlying mechanism is ascribed to the almost-perfect polarization splitting between s and p polarized waves at the designed interface. Remarkably, this almost-perfect polarization splitting does not resort to the interference effect and is insensitive to the incident angle, which then gives rise to the wide-angle giant photonic spin Hall effect. To provide higher data rates, as well as better coverage, cost efficiency, security, adaptability, and scalability, the 5G and beyond 5G networks are developed with various artificial intelligence techniques. In this two-part paper, we investigate the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and in particular machine learning (ML) to the study of wireless propagation channels. It firstly provides a comprehensive overview of ML for channel characterization and ML-based antenna-channel optimization in this first part, and then it gives a state-of-the-art literature review of channel scenario identification and channel modeling in Part II. Fundamental results and key concepts of ML for communication networks are presented, and widely used ML methods for channel data processing, propagation channel estimation, and characterization are analyzed and compared. A discussion of challenges and future research directions for ML-enabled next generation networks of the topics covered in this part rounds off the paper. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

While immune repertoire(IR) dynamics encode critical disease signatures, existing models fail to capture the non-equilibrium processes that governing clonal selection and somatic hypermutation (SHM). We develop a biophysical framework that mathematically reconstructs IR evolution through energy landscape optimization, where 1) clonal emergence probabilities map to metastable states, 2) repertoire transitions obey non-equilibrium dynamics, and 3) inter-IR distances quantify the distribution transformation costs via optimal transport theory. This model enables macroscopic immune state detection from 10k cells by resolving critical fluctuations in sparse sampling regimes. Experimental validation across murine/human cohorts demonstrates precise unsupervised stratification of immune stages and disease states without prior clinical annotations. By bridging stochastic SHM kinetics with deterministic repertoire shifts, our approach establishes quantitative metrics for tracking immunological trajectories and pathological progression. This paradigm shift from static pattern recognition to dynamic process decoding empowers sensitive immunomonitoring and personalized therapeutic design through ultra-low-input clinical sampling.

The guidance vector field encoding problem is revisited via exploiting the recently developed differential Lyapunov framework for contraction analysis. In control applications, a designed guidance vector field is utilized to guide a particle (such as a robot, or an end actuator) to converge to and circulate along a target curve, such as robot navigation, or motion planing. This paper proposes some new methods for guidance vector filed encoding. The methods analyze the guidance vector field encoding problem from a theoretical perspective providing insights into the problem, and it shows that the contraction analysis is a natural theoretical tool for guidance vector encoding. Furthermore, the differences and relations between the proposed result and the previous methods are discussed. Simulation examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2018 European control Association (EUCA).

The vast majority of the software developers use the agile framework for project management. Agile approach provides more flexibility and adaption to the changes against classic software development approach. The key methodology of agile approach represents the scrum. The core of scrum management forms sprint, which represents a time shift activity and envelops all other events of scrum. The outcome of the sprint should be the increment in development of the project, which is possible to submit to the customers or the users. The "Zeeman effect" offers unique opportunities for magnetic manipulation of the spin degree of freedom (DOF). Recently, valley Zeeman splitting, referring to the lifting of valley degeneracy, has been demonstrated in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) at liquid helium temperature. However, to realize the practical applications of valley pseudospins, the valley DOF must be controllable by a magnetic field at room temperature, which remains a significant challenge. Magnetic doping in TMDs can enhance the Zeeman splitting, however, to achieve this experimentally is not easy. Here, we report unambiguous magnetic manipulation of valley Zeeman splitting at 300 K (geff = -6.4) and 10 K (geff = -11) in a CVD-grown Fe-doped MoS2 monolayer;the effective Landé geff factor can be tuned to -20.7 by increasing the Fe dopant concentration, which represents an approximately fivefold enhancement as compared to undoped MoS2. Our measurements and calculations reveal that the enhanced splitting and geff factors are due to the Heisenberg exchange interaction of the localized magnetic moments (Fe 3d electrons) with MoS2 through the d-orbital hybridization. In modern era, one of the rising power quality (PQ) concern is harmonics distortion (HD). The HD is usually produced by increase in the utilization of nonlinear user loads at domestic level. It not only spoils the PQ but also have harmful effects on electrical appliances. So, this paper presents a new approach to mitigate the HD in home appliances rapidly by utilizing the active band pass filter (ABPF). The fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique is employed for the detection of harmonics in appliances. The band pass filter dramatically affects the response time of active filter. The suggested control methodology is capable to eliminate harmonics from distorted input voltage waveform and provides a pure sinusoidal waveform. The prototype of this model is also implemented. Experimental results along with simulation show that the proposed model is quite effective in eliminating HD despite load variations and also useful to compensate the reactive power in electronic home appliances. Hence, this technique is cost effective for domestic users with high quality performance in all aspects.

A new mathematical model for COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS is considered to assess the impact of COVID-19 on HIV dynamics and vice-versa. Investigating the epidemiologic synergy between COVID-19 and HIV is important. The dynamics of the full model is driven by that of its sub-models;therefore, basic analysis of the two sub-models;HIV-only and COVID-19 only is carried out. The basic reproduction number is computed and used to prove local and global asymptotic stability of the sub-models’ disease-free and endemic equilibria. Using the fmincon function in the Optimization Toolbox of MATLAB, the model is fitted to real COVID-19 data set from South Africa. The impact of intervention measures, namely, COVID-19 and HIV prevention interventions and COVID-19 treatment are incorporated into the model using time-dependent controls. It is observed that HIV prevention measures can significantly reduce the burden of co-infections with COVID-19, while effective treatment of COVID-19 could reduce co-infections with opportunistic infections such as HIV/AIDS. In particular, the COVID-19 only prevention strategy averted about 10,500 new co-infection cases, with similar number also averted by the HIV-only prevention control. © 2022 The Author(s)
