Influence of Distributed Energy Resources on the performance of phase topology identification in distribution networks

The increase of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in low-voltage distribution networks (LVDN) requires accurate phase topology information of single-phase users. However, this information is not always available or, when it is, is often unreliable. Although there are methods in the literature for the automatic phase topology identification in LVDN, the influence of DERs on their performance has not been widely studied. In this paper, an evaluation of the influence of DERs in phase topology identification is presented. Five DER penetration scenarios (0%, 5%, 10%, 20% and 40%) over a LVDN with 459 users were used. A total of three state-of-the-art methods from the literature were tested. All of them showed an accuracy decrease when DER penetration increases. However, the one proposed by the authors showed the smallest decrease (from 100% without DER to 95.87% with 40% DER penetration) compared to the others, which showed a greater influence (from 99.76% to 89.81% and from 97.77% to 52.67% respectively).

Accurate segmentation of cellular nuclei is imperative for various biological and medical applications, such as cancer diagnosis and drug discovery. Histopathology, a discipline employing microscopic examination of bodily tissues, serves as a cornerstone for cancer diagnosis. Nonetheless, the conventional histopathological diagnosis process is frequently marred by time constraints and potential inaccuracies. Consequently, there arises a pressing need for automated image analysis tools to augment medical practitioners’ efforts. In this paper, we present a novel approach utilising Transformer model, originally designed for natural language processing tasks, for automated cellular nuclei segmentation in whole-slide microscopic images. Specifically targeting cell nuclei, this methodology holds significance as the initial phase in diagnosing various illnesses, streamlining the analysis and quantification process. The study introduces a novel model that combines a U-Net architecture with a Transformer-based network functioning as a parallel encoder. This model was compared against three other popular architectures in the literature: U-Net, ResU-Net, and LinkNet-34. The impact of augmentation and colour normalisation techniques was investigated. The average Dice similarity coefficient for the considered images was found to be 0.8041. Nowadays, biometric systems have replaced password-or token-based authentication systems in many fields to improve the security level. However, biometric systems are also vulnerable to security threats. Unlike passwords, biometric templates cannot be replaced if lost or compromised. To deal with issue of compromising biometric templates, template protection schemes have evolved to make it possible to replace the biometric templates. A cancellable biometric scheme is such a template protection scheme that can replace a biometric template, when it is stolen or lost. The biometric used here is speech. It is important to preserve user confidentiality. Cancellable biometrics is a new notion addressed for this problem. This paper presents a scheme for cancellable speaker recognition based on spectrogram patch selection. The simulation results reveal that the suggested approach is practical, and it satisfies the desired criteria such as renewability, security and performance. The accuracy of the proposed cancellable speaker recognition scheme reaches 98.75% with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) composed of three layers. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC part of Springer Nature.

Video in an outdoor environment suffers from the haze problem due to smoke, dust, and other particles in the atmosphere. The quality of video under these atmospheric conditions is clearly/dramatically degraded, leading to poor contrast and information leakage. The proposed algorithm in this paper depends on pre-processing of video frames prior to the dehazing process. Different enhancement techniques are used to remove noise and control the dynamic range, because each frame has some noise due to sensor measurement errors. This noise might be magnified during the haze removal process, if totally neglected. Previous dehazing algorithms enhance the video contrast and reduce frame degradation. We use optimized dehazing algorithms, namely a dual-transmission-map dehazing algorithm, and a recursive Deep Residual Learning (DRL) network, as dehazing tools. We modify the previous dehazing algorithms to generate new algorithms to be suitable not only for visible frames but also for Near Infrared (NIR) frames. In the optimized dehazing algorithms, the haze effect is reduced, according to the hazing model. In the dual-transmission-map dehazing algorithm, the effect of attenuation parameter R and attenuation weight U on the dehazed frames is investigated. A dual-transmission-map algorithm, depending on the Dark Channel Prior (DCP) technique, is studied. We study the effect of a regularization parameter Ω on the visible and NIR dehazed frames without and with enhancement techniques. For the recursive deep residual learning algorithm, we increase the number of iterations in the DRL network from three iterations in the traditional DRL algorithm without denoising techniques to nine iterations, in order to explore the impact of increasing the number of iterations on the output dehazed frames. This paper presents a study of the segmentation of medical *** paper provides a solid introduction to image enhancement along with image segmentation *** the first step,the morphological operations are employed to ensure image detail protection and *** objective of using morphological operations is to remove the defects in the texture of the ***,the Fuzzy C-Means(FCM)clustering algorithm is used to modify membership function based only on the spatial neighbors instead of the distance between pixels within local spatial neighbors and cluster *** proposed technique is very simple to implement and significantly fast since it is not necessary to compute the distance between the neighboring pixels and the cluster *** is also efficient when dealing with noisy images because of its ability to efficiently improve the membership partition *** results are performed on different medical image ***(Us),X-ray(Mammogram),Computed Tomography(CT),Positron Emission Tomography(PET),and Magnetic Resonance(MR)images are the main medical image modalities used in this *** obtained results illustrate that the proposed technique can achieve good results with a short time and efficient image *** results on different image modalities show that the proposed technique can achieve segmentation accuracies of 98.83%,99.71%,99.83%,99.85%,and 99.74%for Us,Mammogram,CT,PET,and MRI images,respectively.

In this paper,a proposed cancellable biometric scheme is based on multiple biometric image identifiers,Arnold’s cat map and double random phase encoding(DRPE)to obtain cancellable biometric *** proposed segmentation scheme that is used to select the region of interest for generating cancelable templates is based on chaos entropy low correlation statistical *** objective of segmentation is to reduce the computational cost and reliability of template *** left and right biometric(iris,fingerprint,palm print and face)are divided into non-overlapping blocks of the same *** define the region of interest(ROI),we select the block with the highest *** shorten the registration process time and achieve a high level of security,we select 25%of the image volume of the biometric *** addition,the low-cost security requirement lies in the use of selective encryption(SE)*** step of selecting the maximum entropy is executed on all biometric *** maximum right and left multi-biometric blocks are arranged in descending order from the entropy perspective and select 50%of each biometric couple and store the single *** obtained matrix is scrambled with a certain number of iterations using Arnold’s Cat Map(ACM).The obtained scrambled matrix is encrypted with the DRPE to generate the cancellable biometric templates,which are further *** simulation results display better performance of the suggested cancellable biometric system in noise scenarios using the area under the receiver operating characteristic(AROC).The strength of the suggested technique is examined with correlation,irregular deviation,maximum difference and maximum *** recommended proposed approach shows that the ability to distinguish the authentic and imposter biometrics of user seven in different levels of the noise environment.

This research described above includes the planning, simulation, and examination of a microstrip patch antenna operating at a frequency of 2.5 GHz. This antenna is designed for use in wireless applications that work in the S-band. Because of its low loss tangent and high dielectric permittivity, the Rogers RO3006 material was chosen to serve as the substrate for the antenna. The dielectric permittivity of this material is 6.5. The entire antenna was developed with computer simulation technology (CST) software, which was also utilized for simulation purposes;Origin Pro software was used to display the graphs. The simulated antenna had a return loss of -42.476 dBi, a gain of 6.1 dBi, a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.01, and a directivity of 7.1 dBi, according to the results of the simulation. The fundamental purpose of the research paper is to achieve a standard VSWR by reducing the return loss of the antenna, increasing the gain and directivity of the antenna, and improving the antenna's efficiency. Because of this, the antenna will be able to function more effectively. © 2023 IEEE.

When an inaudible sound covert channel(ISCC)attack is launched inside a computer system,sensitive data are converted to inaudible sound waves and then *** receiver at the other end picks up the sound signal,from which the original sensitive data can be *** a forceful countermeasure against the ISCC attack,strong noise can be used to jam the channel and literally shut down any possible sound data *** this paper,enhanced ISCC is proposed,whose transmission frequency can be dynamically ***,if the transmitter detects that the covert channel is being jammed,the transmitter and receiver both will switch to another available frequency and re-establish their communications,following the proposed communications *** results show that the proposed enhanced ISCC can remain connected even in the presence of a strong jamming noise ***,a detection method based on frequency scanning is proposed to help to combat such an anti-jamming sound *** the proposed countermeasure,the bit error rate(BER)of the data communications over enhanced ISCC soars to more than 48%,essentially shutting down the data transmission,and thus neutralizing the security threat.

Direct transmission between devices is now possible due to the emergence of device-to-device D2D technology. The D2D communication underlay cellular network intends to take advantage of device proximity and hence, boost consumer bitrates, as well as offer the ability to improve system capacity and energy efficiency while decreasing end-to-end latency. However, D2D devices that underlay cellular networks are vulnerable to co-channel interference, which negatively impacting network performance. Another factor that could also affect network performance and reduce the quality of service is inter-carrier interference in the orthogonal division multiple access (OFDMA) system. Most research has concentrated on co-channel interference only. This study aims to optimize network performance in the presence of both co-channel interference and OFDMA inter-carrier interference (ICI)-based multicast D2D underlay cellular networks. In comparison to different optimization techniques, the simulation results show that the proposed genetic algorithm (GA) achieves a cumulative distribution function of 0.5 at a capacity of 70 Mbps, compared to 5.5 and 6.5 for the greedy search algorithm (GSA) and binary power control (BPC), respectively. It shows the capability of successfully maintaining high network performance. © 2024 IEEE.
