In this paper we present a general model for analyzing the incorporation of eGovernment in the administrative processes that take place in a public institution. This model is developed in three conceptual visions which allow for advances in administration modeling. We start with an organizational vision and proceed to describe the operational vision (i.e., of the processes), and conclude with a technological vision that conceptualizes the processes in an architecture that is able to be simulated. Lastly, we detail a simple test case which analyzes the results of incorporating electronic processes into the services offered by an administrative agency.

Nowadays, the use of quasi-Z-source cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters (qZS-CHBMLI) in photovoltaic (PV) has gained their attention. They permit the single-stage power transformation of a PV generator adjusting the DC voltage independently in each module to operate each PV generator at maximum power. This paper develops a new control strategy that allows the system to continue operating after a fault in a module, by increasing the DC voltage in the operating modules. The control strategy is employed to a grid-connected qZS-CHBMLI, which consists of three cascaded qZSI powered by independent 4.8 kW PV cells. Under several operating circumstances, the proposed control system is evaluated. The results demonstrate how the control strategy applied to the system successfully reacts to the failure of a module. © 2023 IEEE.

Binary extension (or Galois) fields GF(2 m ) have been widely studied due to their use in several important applications, such as cryptography, error control codes and digital signal processing. These applications require efficient hardware implementations of GF(2 m ) arithmetic operations, particularly multiplication, which is considered the most important and complex one. The complexity of GF(2 m ) multiplication depends on the representation basis and on the defining irreducible polynomial f(y) selected for the finite field. For efficient hardware implementations, polynomial basis and irreducible trinomials or pentanomials are normally used. Any element A ϵ GF(2 m ) can be represented in the polynomial basis {1,x,...,x m-1 } as A = Σ i-0 m-1 ,α i x i with α i ϵ GF(2), where x is a root of the irreducible polynomial f(y) = Σ i=0 m f i y i . Polynomial basis multiplication C = A · B requires a polynomial multiplication followed by a reduction modulo an irreducible polynomial. Mastrovito [1] proposed an efficient bit-parallel polynomial basis multiplier in which a product matrix was introduced to combine the above two steps together. A new polynomial basis multiplication method applied to irreducible trinomials was proposed in [2], where the functions S_i and T_i given by the addition of terms x k = (a k b k ) and z i j = (a i b j + a j b i ), with a i , b i ϵ GF(2), were obtained from the decomposition of a product matrix. The addition of these functions is used for the computation of the product of two GF(2 m ) elements. In [3], the above method was applied to type II irreducible pentanomials and the functions S_i and T_i were split in the form S i = s k i S k i + ... + s 0 i S 0 i and T i = t k i T i k + ... + t 0 i T 0i , with s j i , t j i ϵ GF(2) and k = log 2 m. In response to growing energy demands and concerns about climate change, microgrid clusters (MGCs) are gaining widespread attention. Their ability to integrate technologies for energy consumption, generation, and storage in AC, DC or a compound of both offer a high degree of flexibility and resiliency. This research introduces a new control strategy for an MGC composed of two MGs interconnected to a local grid via a point of common coupling. The first one is a DC MG comprising an ultracapacitor (UC), wind turbine (WT), DC loads and hydrogen system. The second is an AC MG with a battery bank, AC loads and photovoltaic (PV) generator. The control strategy employs local controllers for each device and distributed control via two control agents, coordinating the power distribution among the energy storage systems (ESSs) of the MGC. This system is tested and validated on a real-time experimental setup, using two Raspberry Pi microcontrollers and an OPAL-RT unit, under different working conditions. The results obtained in this work show that the control strategy implemented in the MGC works correctly. © 2024 IEEE.

In natural stimulus fMRI during video watching, it is natural to postulate that a human participant's attention system would respond to shot changes of the video stream. However, quantitative assessment of the relationship between the functional activities of the attention system and the dynamics of video shot changes has been rarely explored yet. This paper presents a novel framework for modeling the functional interactions and dynamics within the human attention system via natural stimulus fMRI and learning fMRI-based brain response predictors of video shot changes. The basic idea is to derive sub-networks from the attention system and correlate the functional synchronization measurements of these sub-networks with video shot changes. Then, the most relevant sub-networks are identified from training samples and a regression model is constructed as the predictor of video shot changes. In the application stage, the learned predictive models demonstrated good accuracy of estimating video shot changes in independent testing datasets. This study suggests that the fMRI-guided predictive models of functional attention network activities can potentially serve as the brain decoders of video shot changes. © 2014 IEEE.

Task-based fMRI (tfMRI) has been a powerful noninvasive tool to study cognitive behaviors of the human brain. Computational modeling of tfMRI data involves two important aspects: the development of algorithms to learn a wide variety of meaningful patterns from specific task fMRI signals and the development of models to discriminate among different tasks. Although both aspects are important, most previous fMRI studies focused either on learning meaningful patterns from single tasks or learning discriminations across different tasks, and as a consequence, a unified approach to studying both aspects is rarely explored. To bridge this knowledge gap, in this study, we adopted the basic idea from convolutional neural network (CNN) and proposed a new variant of CNN called deep expert network (DEN) to model tfMRI data in a hierarchical manner. At the same time, by mixing these DEN models, we are able to achieve discriminations across different tasks. To validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed mixture of DENs (MoDEN), we applied them on three Human Connectome Project (HCP) task fMRI datasets (language, social and working memory tasks). Our experiments achieved promising results and demonstrated the superior ability of MoDEN in modeling task-based fMRI data. © 2018 IEEE.

Recently, increasing studies suggest that task-evoked brain networks and intrinsic connectivity networks are concurrent during task performance in the architecture of functional brain organization. However, it remains challenging to identify and quantitatively characterize these mixtures of networks from task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. In this paper, we propose a two-stage sparse dictionary learning method by establishing spatial correspondences among the brain networks of multiple subjects and automatically categorize these networks into task-evoked, intrinsic and uncertain ones. The proposed framework is applied to Human Connectome Project (HCP) task-based fMRI data. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can effectively identify group-wise task-evoked and intrinsic networks simultaneously. Our study provides a novel data-driven method to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the functional brain architecture. © 2018 IEEE.

Currently, microgrid clusters (MGC) are being increasingly used owing to their benefits and human needs. MGs can be composed of power generation, consumption, and storage elements. They permit the combination of DC and AC technologies, even for a single microgrid (MG). In this paper, a new control system of a MGC consisting of two MGs connected to the main grid is developed. One of them is a DC MG that is composed of a wind turbine (WT), electrolyzer (EZ), ultracapacitor (UC), fuel cell (FC) and DC loads. The other MG is an AC MG, which is made up of a PV generator, a battery bank and AC loads. The MGC is tested under different working conditions in an experimental setup composed of a Raspberry Pi microcontroller, an OPAL-RT 4510 unit and a PC host. The experimental setup allows the system to run in real time and validate the results obtained. Finally, the control system implemented in the MGC exhibits a correct behaviour under different conditions, according to the results obtained. © 2023 IEEE.
