Modern AI applications contain computationally expensive sections. Accelerator cards and tools like AMD Vitis HLS leverage high-level synthesis and hardware (HW) optimizations to create custom HW designs to accelerate ***, the learning curve is steep, even for those with previous knowledge of HW design, due to the complexity of the optimization techniques and limited information on their interactions and HW effects. This paper quantitatively analyzes the interactions of optimization techniques after reverse engineering Vitis' optimization directives, both in isolation and in *** 150 experiments were conducted to investigate three distinct goals: assessing pragma behavior and the rules governing pragma application and optimizations, modeling Vitis HLS latency estimates, and evaluating the impact of optimizations on design space exploration, specifically area and latency. These experiments involve different combinations and placements of optimizations in the loop and function hierarchy of the test bench. Our findings offer guidance on using Vitis pragmas and identify promising configurations for optimizing latency and area. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Amorphous alloys exhibit a similar course of the magnetization process as crystalline materials. This means that there is also a domain structure in their volume, the changes of which describe the magnetization process well. These defects are a kind of inhomogeneity of the material structure and become an area where there are disturbances in the alignment of spins in relation to the intensity of the external magnetic field. These disturbances are the reason for the change in the course of the M-H curve. Using the theory developed by H. Kronmüller, it is possible to study the process of magnetization of amorphous ferromagnetic alloys in strong magnetic fields. The work analyzes the change in the process of magnetization of amorphous iron alloys along with the change in their chemical composition. © 2025 Polska Akademia Nauk. All rights reserved.

Simulations are commonly used to develop and evaluate video encryption algorithms. Although these approaches are useful for demonstrating theoretical feasibility and algorithm performance, they neglect practical challenges and real-world communication conditions. This oversight creates a critical gap in evaluating their effectiveness and security in practical applications. In this paper, we describe a novel, to the best of our knowledge, video encryption scheme that employs a modified chaotic Colpitts oscillator, a customized Josephus problem, and ribonucleic acid (RNA) operations, and is implemented in visible light communication (VLC) environment. The modified Colpitts oscillator reveals significant phenomena, the most prominent for this study being chaos. The encryption scheme involves block scrambling and pixel-level permutation employing a customized Josephus problem and a column and row shifting technique. Diffusion is then achieved through a custom Josephus problem-oriented RNA operation combined with basic RNA operations and cipher block chaining (CBC). Based on the results, we found that the customized Josephus problem-based permutation performed more efficiently than traditional methods, whereas the column and row shifting permutation was more robust. By eliminating key sequence coding and item-to-item operations, the proposed RNA operation reduces computational overhead. This video encryption scheme is proven to be effective and resilient at securing video data transmitted over the VLC channel, and it constitutes a significant advancement in areas such as surveillance, medical imaging, and military communication requiring robust secured video data. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. Wind power generation systems (WPGSs) have emerged as a vital source of clean energy, appreciated for their renewable nature and zero fuel costs. However, controlling these systems is challenging due to their nonlinear dynamics, unpredictable disturbances, parameter uncertainties, and rapid wind speed fluctuations. To address these challenges, robust control strategies are essential. This study presents a novel robust nonlinear controller for regulating the electromagnetic torque of horizontal-axis, variable-speed WPGSs with three blades connected to the grid. The proposed controller is designed to enhance system efficiency and profitability by maximizing electricity production, reducing torque ripples, eliminating peak overshoots, and achieving precise setpoint tracking with optimal transient performance. The controller combines sliding mode (SM) control with fractional calculus (FC) to exploit the benefits of both methods. SM control, known for its effectiveness in controlling nonlinear systems, stabilizes the system and ensures finite-time convergence to the desired state. The incorporation of fractional-order operators into the sliding surface introduces greater flexibility, leveraging the long-term memory properties of FC to enhance system stability and robustness while mitigating chattering effects. The stability of the proposed controller is rigorously validated through Lyapunov theory. The simulation phase is carried out in MATLAB under various wind conditions and operating scenarios demonstrate the controller's superior performance. The results show its ability to reduce chattering phenomena, improve power quality, and minimize high peaks in the input controller by achieving reductions of 38.0856 KN.m in the first test and 280.2039 KN.m in the second test. Additionally, this controller ensures system stability, with a Lyapunov function standard deviation of 0.0105 and 0.1755 for the first and second tests, respectively. This paper presents a novel approach to develop a fuzzy maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller that performs well in variable weather photovoltaic (PV) systems. The photovoltaic output voltage can be adjusted using a DC-DC boost converter. The last step is controlled by the duty cycle, which is essentially bounded between 0 and 1 . Using the Lyapunov approach and Descriptor Takagi-Sugeno (DT-S) fuzzy modelling, we establish the stabilisation conditions with H∞ performance represented as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, we apply the proposed control to a solar system and the results of our simulation validate the efficiency of the presented methods.

This paper presents the design of a miniaturized metamaterial reflector composing of an open-loop transmission line unit cell structure. The transmission line ends are connected by using a double interdigital technique, resulting in a large capacitive value compared to the conventional methods. When combined with the open-loop line employing the trisection step-impedance structure with adjusting of the capacitive value, its second and third resonant frequencies will be controllable. As a result, this approach can reduce the unit cell size from a typical value of λ/2 to an approximate value of λ/16, therefore overall size of the reflector is significantly decreased. The designed unit cell is measured to be 1.05 cm × 1.0 cm. We implemented the proposed reflector on an FR-4 PCB with a relative permittivity of about 4.4, a substrate height (h) of 1.6 mm, and a loss tangent of about 0.02. The operating frequency range targets of 5G use cases were set to be at 1.8 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz, respectively. When used with a dipole antenna, the bandwidths of 390 MHz, 604 MHz, and 1.1 GHz and the antenna gains of about 8.23 dB, 8.14 dB, and 8.19 dB were obtained at the operating frequencies, respectively.

This paper presents a new IOT system for monitoring and controlling plant cultivation in greenhouse system. The system aims to regulate and monitor the environmental conditions suitable for plant cultivation in real-time. The system utilizes sensors to measure environmental conditions, such as soil moisture sensor, light intensity sensor, temperature sensor, and air humidity sensor. The Node MCU ESP32 is used for processing and controlling these operations. The system is designed to send notifications through Line application and allows farmers to monitor the system's performance and plant growth in real-time via a smartphone application. It can utilize the Blynk IoT application on a smartphone for remotely monitoring and controlling the environmental conditions and provides historical data. This experiment demonstrates that the designed system can successfully cultivate plants and promote better growth compared to traditional cultivation methods with a 13.38% improvement. Additionally, it provides convenience and ease of management for plant cultivation.

In this study, Al6061–Eu2O3 composites were fabricated via mechanical alloying and systematically characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy to evaluate structural and compositional features. The incorporation of Eu2O3 in varying weight percentages (1–20 wt%) was confirmed by XRD, revealing phase retention and crystallite refinement, while SEM–EDS analyses indicated uniform elemental distribution at low doping and localized clustering at higher reinforcement levels. Radiation shielding properties were comprehensively assessed through mass and linear attenuation coefficients, half value layer, effective atomic number, fast neutron removal cross section, buildup factors, and photon transmission factors. The results demonstrated a strong correlation between increasing Eu2O3 content and improved shielding performance. The E20 composite exhibited a mass attenuation coefficient of 22.33 cm2/g at 0.015 MeV, over threefold higher than the base alloy, and fast neutron removal cross section improved by 22.5 % compared to Al6061 alone. Additionally, EBF and EABF values decreased significantly, confirming reduced secondary photon build-up. These findings validate the effectiveness of Eu2O3 as a reinforcement phase for tailoring Al6061 for multifunctional applications, particularly in nuclear, aerospace, and radiological environments requiring lightweight materials with superior gamma and neutron attenuation. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

In the process of remagnetization of magnetic materials at certain frequencies, there are losses that reduce their energy expenditure, which are referred to as total losses. These losses include hysteresis loop losses, eddy current losses, and additional losses. The factor of additional losses is very often overlooked. Its contribution to total losses is considered to be marginal. Even in the case of materials showing the minimization of total losses, such as amorphous materials, this loss factor is important and should not be neglected when studying this phenomenon. The paper presents the results of tests on remagnetization losses of a ferromagnetic amorphous alloy at frequencies from 50 to 1000 Hz. The share of additional losses was separated, and their total contribution to total core losses was determined as a percentage. © 2025 Polska Akademia Nauk. All rights reserved.

Structural relaxations play a large role in forming the properties of magnetic materials. In amorphous alloys, which are metastable materials, obtaining a relatively stable structure requires a properly designed thermal treatment process. Samples should be annealed above the Curie temperature and below the crystallization temperature. With the process designed in such a way, the domain structure is not interfered with and the formation of crystal grains does not occur. By analyzing the so-called Holstein-Primakoff paraprocess, it is possible to determine the in uence of magnetic atoms on the magnetization process in strong magnetic elds above the eld of effective anisotropy. © 2025 Polska Akademia Nauk.
