A multi-agent system designed to achieve distance-based shape control with flocking behavior can be seen as a mechanical system described by a Lagrangian function and subject to additional external forces. Forced variational integrators are given by the discretization of Lagrange-d’Alembert principle for systems subject to external forces, and have proved useful for numerical simulation studies of complex dynamical systems. We derive forced variational integrators that can be employed in the context of control algorithms for distance-based shape with velocity consensus. In particular, we provide an accurate numerical integrator with a lower computational cost than traditional solutions, while preserving the configuration space and symmetries. We also provide an explicit expression for the integration scheme in the case of an arbitrary number of agents with double integrator dynamics. For a numerical comparison of the performances, we use a planar formation consisting of three autonomous agents. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The KM3NeT observatory detected the most energetic neutrino candidate ever observed, with an energy between 72 PeV and 2.6 EeV at the 90 % confidence level. The observed neutrino is likely of cosmic origin. In this article, it is investigated if the neutrino could have been produced within the Milky Way. Considering the low fluxes of the Galactic diffuse emission at these energies, the lack of a nearby potential Galactic particle accelerator in the direction of the event and the difficulty to accelerate particles to such high energies in Galactic systems, we conclude that if the event is indeed cosmic, it is most likely of extragalactic origin. A Josephson junction (JJ) based on high critical-temperature superconductors described by a linear resistive–capacitive–inductance shunted junction (LRCLSJ) model with unharmonic current-phase relation (UCPR) is theoretically and experimentally investigated in this paper. The numerical simulations indicate that JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors exhibits excitable mode, regular spiking, periodic bursting, relaxation oscillations, chaotic attractors, and coexisting attractors. The theoretical investigations are verified experimentally through the microcontroller implementation. In addition, the coexistence between chaotic and limit cycle attractors found in JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors is controlled to the desired trajectory using the linear augmentation control method. Finally, analytical calculations and numerical simulations are carried out to show the serviceableness of the two designed single controllers in suppressing chaos in JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors.

The effect of single crystalline CdTe, CdSe, CdS substrates normalizing annealing on their optical properties was investigated, and the surface nanostructure formation was determined by the study of optical transmission spectra, photoluminescence and atomic force microscopy (AFM) topograms. Possibility obtaining of intense luminescence in the border region, formed by interband recombination and transitions due to size quantization of the charge carrier energy, is determined.

Visual inspection of dual-energy X-ray radiographic images of cabin baggage requires high performance, but is hindered by various challenges such as low target prevalence, variability in target visibility, possible presence of multiple targets, and security personnel fatigue and inattention. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, particularly deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown promise in improving the automatic detection of explosives, even with low-resolution radiographic images, especially in high baggage throughput scenarios. In this paper, we focus on the detection of detonators as components of improvised explosive devices. The proposed approach involves comparing two experiments implemented in a deep CNN architecture using TensorFlow and Keras libraries. In the first experiment, raw dual-energy radiographic images without any enhancement were used. The second experiment includes three methods for contrast enhancement and feature extraction: the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) method, the wavelet transform-based method, and the mixed CLAHE RGB-Wavelet method. In the latter two methods, Haar, Db2, Coif2, and Sym2 mother wavelet functions at two levels (HH and HL) were employed. The analysis of results focuses on a comparative study of performance measures such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. It was found that the preprocessing methods used in experiment 2, for the two evaluated classes (detonator and no detonator), achieved higher accuracy compared to the raw radiographic images used in experiment 1 (98.08%). The highest accuracies in experiment 2, with a value of 100%, were obtained with the CLAHE method (green channel in grayscale, blue channel in grayscale, and RGB channels) and the wavelet transform method with Haar mother wavelet at two levels HL

A novel autonomous 5-D hyperjerk RC circuit with hyperbolic sine function is proposed in this paper. Compared to some existing 5-D systems like the 5-D Sprott B system, the 5-D Lorentz, and the Lorentz-like systems, the new system is the simplest 5-D system with complex dynamics reported to date. Its simplicity mainly relies on its nonlinear part which is synthetized using only two semiconductor diodes. The system displays only one equilibrium point and can exhibit both periodic and chaotic dynamical behavior. The complex dynamics of the system is investigated by means of bifurcation analysis. In particular, the striking phenomenon of multistability is revealed showing up to seven coexisting attractors in phase space depending solely on the system's initial state. To the best of author's knowledge, this rich dynamics has not yet been revealed in any 5-D dynamical system in general or particularly in any hyperjerk system. Recently, researches based on eye-tracking have more often appeared on the field of cognitive studies, education support systems and virtual reality. Eye-tracking based analysis may be useful in IT, particular in algorithm thinking, program code debugging. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the conditions of Gazepoint GP3 device and OGAMA used to record eye-motion parameters and demonstrate the recording process and steps.

Since Thailand has now completely stepped into an aged society there are more than 20% of the population aged 60 years and over. There was also an increase in those who had problems with their balance. One of the main difficulties for these people is walking on their own. This paper presents an automatic walking aid for people with balance or walking problems. A specially designed automatic walking aid can be adjusted to six levels of height. It has an anti-collision warning system at a distance of up to 40 centimeters and displays GPS coordinates via SMS when falling. The experimental results of the prototype automatic walking aid showed that the walking aid could work as designed and could help people with balance problems walk more comfortably.

KM3NeT/ORCA is an underwater neutrino telescope under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. Its primary scientific goal is to measure the atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters and to determine the neutrino mass ordering. ORCA can constrain the oscillation parameters Δm ²₃₁ and θ ₂₃ by reconstructing the arrival direction and energy of multi-GeV neutrinos crossing the Earth. Searches for deviations from the Standard Model of particle physics in the forward scattering of neutrinos inside Earth matter, produced by Non-Standard Interactions, can be conducted by investigating distortions of the standard oscillation pattern of neutrinos of all flavours. This work reports on the results of the search for non-standard neutrino interactions using the first six detection units of ORCA and 433 kton-years of exposure. No significant deviation from standard interactions was found in a sample of 5828 events reconstructed in the 1 GeV-1 TeV energy range. The flavour structure of the non-standard coupling was constrained at 90% confidence level to be |ϵ_μτ | ≤ 5.4 × 10^-3, |ϵ_eτ | ≤ 7.4 × 10^-2, |ϵ_eμ | ≤ 5.6 × 10^-2 and -0.015 ≤ ϵ_ττ - ϵ_μμ ≤ 0.017. The results are comparable to the current most stringent limits placed on the parameters by other experiments. © 2025 The Author(s)

The KM3NeT Collaboration has tackled a common challenge faced by the astroparticle physics community, namely adapting the experiment-specific simulation software to work with the CORSIKA air shower simulation output. The proposed solution is an extension of the open source code gSeaGen, which allows the transport of muons generated by CORSIKA to a detector of any size at an arbitrary depth. The gSeaGen code was not only extended in terms of functionality but also underwent a thorough redesign of the muon propagation routine, resulting in a more accurate and efficient simulation. This paper presents the capabilities of the new gSeaGen code as well as prospects for further developments. The primary use case considered is the KM3NeT experiment [2], however, the code should be able to cover other similar experiments as well. The challenges in this work included interfacing the CORSIKA binary output, efficient handling of already generated events to reduce the overall computational cost, and preserving all the additional available information, which can be invaluable in physics analyses. Solution method: The readout of CORSIKA simulation was adapted from the base script provided together with CORSIKA and implemented as a standalone flux driver in gSeaGen. The propagation routine has been redesigned to support the geometry of extensive air shower simulations and to improve its efficiency in propagating particles to the detector.
