The continued development of ICT technologies has led to new ways of information communication. As is well known, the success of any new training or communication technology incorporates disseminating information, timeliness and efficiency and often incorporates simulation and virtual reality technologies. This paper presents the results of a quantitative study showing that simulation-based training strategies are more effective than traditional methods. The current case is for applying didactic teaching methodologies for learning ICT concepts for complex systems. The paper also compares the results of this study with previous studies and recommends strategies for using virtual reality elements to streamline learning process of engineering students.

Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) glasses, known for their high thermal stability, excellent optical transparency, and substantial mechanical strength, are crucial in numerous technological applications, including radiation shielding. This research explores the impact of compositional variations in SiO₂-based glasses on their mechanical and radiation shielding properties, particularly focusing on the inclusion of heavy metal oxides (HMO) and rare earth elements (REE) like neodymium (Nd). Through the systematic investigation of fifteen distinct glass samples with varying concentrations of specific oxides and elements, we investigate the compositional changes and their influence on physical properties and their effectiveness in attenuating radiation. Our findings demonstrate that the incorporation of Nd significantly enhances the glass's radiation shielding capabilities. Glasses doped with Nd exhibited higher effective atomic numbers and electron densities, which translate to superior attenuation characteristics at lower photon energies. This is highlighted by the exceptional performance of the 20Nd sample, showing the lowest exposure build-up factors (EBF) at 10 mean free paths (mfp), indicating its potential as a premier candidate for shielding applications against various energy levels of radiation. Moreover, the variation in the Elastic Modulus of the glass samples underscores the significant impact of the glass matrix composition on its mechanical properties, suggesting a delicate balance between network formers and modifiers in determining the glass properties. It can be concluded that the neodymium-doped SiO₂-based glasses may be considered as targeted compositions in fine-tuning material properties to meet specific application requirements. Quercetin (3,5,7,3’,4’-pentahydroxyflavone, QE), one of the most widely distributed flavonoids in fruits and vegetables, has been reported to possess a wide variety of biological effects, including anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptosis, hepatoprotective, renoprotective and neuroprotective effects. In this study organic-inorganic junctions were fabricated by forming quercetin complex thin film using spin coating technique on n-Si and evaporating Au metal on the film. Optical properties of quercetin thin film were studied with the help of spectrophotometer. The current-voltage (I-V) characteristic of Au/quercetin/n-Si heterojunction diode was investigated at room temperature in dark. Some basic parameters of the diode such as ideality factor, rectification ratio, barrier height, series resistance and shunt resistance were calculated using dark current-voltage measurement. It was also seen that the device had good sensitivity to the light under 40-100 mW/cm2 illumination conditions.

The generative pre-trained transformer (GPT)-based chatbot software ChatGPT possesses excellent natural language processing capabilities but is inadequate for solving arithmetic problems, especially multiplication. Its GPT structure uses a computational graph for multiplication, which has limited accuracy beyond simple multiplication operations. We developed a graph-based multiplication algorithm that emulated human-like numerical operations by incorporating a ×10k operator, where k represents the maximum power to base 10 of the larger of two input numbers. Our proposed algorithm attained 100% accuracy for 1,000,000 large number multiplication tasks, effectively solving the multiplication challenge of GPT-based and other large language models. Combustion-chamber is a critical component of the propulsion engine, which is widely used in the space industry and aeronautics. The goal of this article is to perform a numerical-analysis on the combustion process using a liquid-type propellant. The steps that must be followed until total combustion is achieved are emphasized. It concerns the fuel feeding phase, its injection and the combustion operation. The amount of combustion products and the energy generated are evaluated. It has been shown that the liquid propellant may present an efficient alternative fuel than the kerosene. In addition, the temperature of combustion does not exceed a certain limit to avoid structural problems in the chamber. The parametric survey allowed determining the range of the most influence factors, including the pressure, mixture richness, velocity and flow rates of injection for the fuel and oxidizer. The number and type of injectors revealed a considerable influence on the velocity and flow rates of injection. To maximize thrust force and system propulsion, a careful selection of chamber material and ignition methods is required. A thorough inspection on the issues of walls cooling showed the necessary survey of maximum temperatures that may be reached during the combustion. Finally, an investigation of the thermal exchange through the walls will be very interesting. © 2022, CC BY.

Background: Timely detection of neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions is crucial for early intervention. Specific Language Impairment (SLI) in children and Parkinson's disease (PD) manifests in speech disturbances that may be exploited for diagnostic screening using recorded speech signals. We were motivated to develop an accurate yet computationally lightweight model for speech-based detection of SLI and PD, employing novel feature engineering techniques to mimic the adaptable dynamic weight assignment network capability of deep learning architectures. Materials and methods: In this research, we have introduced an advanced feature engineering model incorporating a novel feature extraction function, the Factor Lattice Pattern (FLP), which is a quantum-inspired method and uses a superposition-like mechanism, making it dynamic in nature. The FLP encompasses eight distinct patterns, from which the most appropriate pattern was discerned based on the data structure. Through the implementation of the FLP, we automatically extracted signal-specific textural features. Additionally, we developed a new feature engineering model to assess the efficacy of the FLP. This model is self-organizing, producing nine potential results and subsequently choosing the optimal one. Our speech classification framework consists of (1) feature extraction using the proposed FLP and a statistical feature extractor;(2) feature selection employing iterative neighborhood component analysis and an intersection-based feature selector;(3) classification via support vector machine and k-nearest neighbors;and (4) outcome determination using combinational majority voting to select the most favorable results. Results: To validate the classification capabilities of our proposed feature engineering model, designed to automatically detect PD and SLI, we employed three speech datasets of PD and SLI patients. The concept of zero energy has emerged as the flagship for the achievement of energy conservation and CO₂ emissions reduction in the built environment. The implementation of the concept beyond single buildings offers the potential of expanding the scale of zero energy performance while overcoming the limitations of single buildings related to building use, size, on-site renewable energy availability and cost. Literature to date has discussed the zero energy concept at neighborhood scale mostly by looking at theoretical and simulated cases, including both existing and new developments. All types of energy use can be considered for achieving a zero energy balance at neighborhood scale or only the building related component. Often research focuses on Renewable Energy sizing and management for achieving the balance. The present paper analyses the real data obtained from the first year of monitoring of a pilot Zero Energy Neighborhood. A comprehensive monitoring schema, with a Web-GIS monitoring platform at its core, has been developed for the measurement and verification campaign. Performance analysis has shown that the pilot neighborhood has achieved the targets set for the net regulated consumption, renewable energy production, and cost. When considering the total consumption and PV production of the neighborhood, the first five months of monitoring starting from the beginning of summer, it has achieved a positive balance. Overall, the neighborhood has achieved a positive energy balance on a yearly basis for its regulated energy needs. © 2021

The present work retrieves cubic–quartic optical soliton solutions to the complex Ginzburg–Landau equation that is considered with five forms of nonlinear refractive index.
