HAFNI-enabled largescale platform for neuroimaging informatics (HELPNI)

Tremendous efforts have thus been devoted on the establishment of functional MRI informatics systems that recruit a comprehensive collection of statistical/computational approaches for fMRI data analysis. However, the state-of-the-art fMRI informatics systems are especially designed for specific fMRI sessions or studies of which the data size is not really big, and thus has difficulty in handling fMRI ‘big data.’ Given the size of fMRI data are growing explosively recently due to the advancement of neuroimaging technologies, an effective and efficient fMRI informatics system which can process and analyze fMRI big data is much needed. To address this challenge, in this work, we introduce our newly developed informatics platform, namely, ‘HAFNI-enabled largescale platform for neuroimaging informatics (HELPNI).’ HELPNI implements our recently developed computational framework of sparse representation of whole-brain fMRI signals which is called holistic atlases of functional networks and interactions (HAFNI) for fMRI data analysis. HELPNI provides integrated solutions to archive and process large-scale fMRI data automatically and structurally, to extract and visualize meaningful results information from raw fMRI data, and to share open-access processed and raw data with other collaborators through web. We tested the proposed HELPNI platform using publicly available 1000 Functional Connectomes dataset including over 1200 subjects. We identified consistent and meaningful functional brain networks across individuals and populations based on resting state fMRI (rsfMRI) big data. Using efficient sampling module, the experimental results demonstrate that our HELPNI system has superior performance than other systems for large-scale fMRI data in terms of processing and storing the data and associated results much faster. © 2015, The Author(s).

Posit ™ arithmetic is a promising alternative to IEEE 754 floating-point arithmetic due to its higher accuracy, larger dynamic range, and bitwise compatibility. While posit arithmetic has been well studied for basic arithmetic operations, division has received little attention. This paper proposes multiple divider designs for posit arithmetic based on digit recurrence and iterative approximation, and evaluates their performance. ASIC synthesis results show that the proposed designs significantly reduce hardware requirements for 32-bit division units compared to previous works by 1.14 × in area, 1.11× in power, and 1.04×in datapath delay. Moreover, the paper introduces an approximate logarithmic posit division that achieves an 8.8×reduction in area and 29×reduction in energy consumption with negligible degradation of the final results, making it suitable for error-tolerant applications.

This paper presents a novel biological neural networks based on memristive Tabu learning neuron (MTLN) model influenced by electromagnetic radiation. Despite the model having an unstable equilibrium plane, numerical investigation without the influence of electromagnetic radiation reveal that when increasing the memristor strength induces complex phenomena, including the coexistence of infinite bubbles of bifurcations, offset plane coexistence of various attractors. Furthermore, electromagnetic radiation can significantly impact the system's behavior, giving rise to hyperchaotic dynamics. A decent understanding is seen between the mathematical outcomes, approved through trial execution on an Arduino microcontroller-based. The insights gained from neural dynamics could pave the way for applications in neuromorphic computing, engineering, and brain-machine interfaces. Based on the complex dynamics of the model, a data privacy of biomedical data has been build and reveals good results, and enable to resist to robust attacks. © 2024 The Author(s)

The rapid development of quantum computing constitutes a significant threat to modern Public-Key Cryptography (PKC). The use of Shor's algorithm with potential powerful quantum computers could easily break the two most widely used public key cryptosystems, namely, RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), based on integer factorization and discrete logarithm problems. For this reason, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) based on alternative mathematical features has become a fundamental research topic due to its resistance against quantum computers. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has even opened a call for proposals of quantum-resistant PKC algorithms in order to standardize one or more PQC algorithms. Cryptographic systems that appear to be extremely difficult to break with large quantum computers are hash -based cryptography, lattice -based cryptography, code -based cryptography, and multivariate -quadratic cryptography. Furthermore, efficient hardware implementations are highly required for these alternative quantum -resistant cryptosystems.

The design of a three-band, belonging to the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical band, microstrip antenna for 2.45 GHz, 4.6 GHz, and 5.8 GHz usable for radio-frequency (RF) energy harvesting applications is investigated in this work. The developed design used a hexagonal patch printed on a Rogers RT-Duroid 5880 substrate of thickness 1.57 mm and a relative permittivity equal to 2.2 with a truncated ground plane using the defected ground structure technique. The width of the band of the constructed antenna (for return loss less than -10 dB) is 140.10 MHz at 2.45 GHz, 116.80 MHz at 4.6 GHz, and 164.50 MHz at 5.8 GHz. The antenna has satisfactory gain values of 5.59 dBi, 3.44 dBi, and 3.86 dBi at the corresponding three resonating frequencies. The antenna has satisfactory radiation efficiency values of 97%, 89%, and 85% at the desired three operating frequencies. This antenna is designed and simulated using CST-MWS (computer Simulation Technology Microwave Studio) and HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator). In light of these results, this proposed antenna design is more suitable for various wireless power transmission applications particularly rectenna systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents a novel approach to enhance the longevity and seismic resilience of ‎ Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) frame towers commonly used in ‎onshore wind turbines. Fatigue-related failures at welded joints pose significant challenges to the durability of these towers. This research investigates the impact of optimized ring stiffener ‎configurations and concrete infill on reducing stress concentrations and improving ‎fatigue resistance under simulated seismic loading. The study utilizes with samples including CFST-gusset plate joints and non-concrete-filled joints, with different configurations of concrete infill and ring stiffeners. ‎These samples were evaluated under static loading to assess the influence of stiffener width, thickness, and spacing on Stress Concentration Factors (SCFs). Subsequently, cyclic loading tests were conducted to observe crack initiation and progression. The results show that ‎optimized configurations of both concrete fill and ring stiffeners significantly reduce ‎SCFs, improve stress distribution, and delay crack initiation, enhancing the seismic ‎fatigue performance of CFST joints. Moreover, the study integrates Artificial Intelligence ‎‎(AI) techniques, specifically Support Vector Machines (SVM), to predict the fatigue ‎behavior of these joints under different loading conditions. The SVM model was trained on experimental data and demonstrated high predictive accuracy in forecasting the fatigue life of CFST joints, achieving an R² value of 0.95, an RMSE of 0.11, and an MAE of 0.08. These results validate the AI model's ‎ability to optimize design parameters and predict fatigue life, contributing to more ‎efficient and reliable CFST joint design. This integration of AI enhances design ‎optimization by providing precise predictions based on complex variables like stiffener ‎geometry and concrete filling. Global deterioration of surface water quality was attributed to a pair of factors: human activities and natural processes, including hydrological variability, climate change, weather characteristics, and adjacent land use. The study of water quality in the contemporary era is a current issue. This paper presents an analysis of the variability of water quality parameters in a study developed on 4 years. In a number of 5 monitoring points, 18 water status parameters were monitored. Primary statistic methods were used and preliminary results are presented in this article, in order to assess the economic impact on medium and long term. This work highlights two major aspects: the first one is due to the fact that the site of research is the meeting point of the borders of three countries: Moldova, Ukraine and Romania. The second significant issue is caused by the fact that the study was conducted in the predeltaic area of the Danube Delta. This study was carried out over 4 years, and highlights the auto-filtering capacity of the Danube (River). © SGEM2018.

Interplanetary space is populated with large numbers of small bodies known as meteorites, which are in orbits that can intersect those of planets and moons. Therefore, individual impacts appear on the surfaces of planetary bodies which are called impact craters. While impacting meteorites are useful to determine the early solar system processes, resultant impact craters are useful to determine the ages of the surfaces and related erosional effects on the body. At Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU) we aim to create a Meteorite Impact Craters Data Base for Turkey in a computer environment. The data base will be reachable through internet for wider use. Preparations and actions fur this exercise are described. For the initial phase, we have collected related information through literature including papers and thesis on the topic. We classify our present efforts for acquisition of information along the following lines on: 1) Meteorites which have fallen down to Turkey recently i.e., Antalya meteorite in 2001, Afyon meteorite in 2002 and others;2) Meteorites and impact craters, mentioned in historical records, i.e., Gallipoli meteorite (467 BC);Birgi meteorite (1335 AD) etc.;3) Candidate impact craters in Turkey which were studied earlier [1], [2];4) Other events that can be recognized through satellite images and maps;5) New events during our preparations. Present candidates and established structures will be investigated and relevant data will be used for the aimed data base. ©2005 IEEE.

The inclusive jet cross section is measured as a function of jet transverse momentum p_T and rapidity y. The measurement is performed using proton-proton collision data at s = 5.02 TeV, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 27.4 pb⁻¹. The jets are reconstructed with the anti-k_T algorithm using a distance parameter of R = 0.4, within the rapidity interval |y| < 2, and across the kinematic range 0.06 < p_T< 1 TeV. The jet cross section is unfolded from detector to particle level using the determined jet response and resolution. The results are compared to predictions of perturbative quantum chromodynamics, calculated at both next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order. The predictions are corrected for nonperturbative effects, and presented for a variety of parton distribution functions and choices of the renormalization/factorization scales and the strong coupling α_S. © The Author(s) 2025.
