In this paper, we introduce a class of biorthogonal vector wavelet packets for vector-valued multivariate function space, which are generalizations of univariate wavelet packets. A procedure for constructing a class of biorthogonal vector wavelet packets in higher dimensions is presented and their biorthogonality property is characterized by virtue of matrix theory, time-frequency analysis method. Three biorthogonality formulas regarding these wavelet packets are derived. Moreover, it is shown how to gain new Riesz bases of space $L^2(R^3,C^{u})$ from these wavelet packets.

Stem cells represent a potential source of cells for regeneration, thanks to their ability to renew and differentiate into functional cells of different tissues. The studies and results related to stem cell differentiation are diverse and sometimes contradictory due to the various sources of production and the different variables involved in the differentiation problem. In this paper a new methodology is proposed in order to select the relevant factors involved in stem cell differentiation into cardiac lineage and forecast its behaviour and response in the differentiation process. We have built a database from the results of experiments on stem cell differentiation into cardiac tissue and using this database we have applied state-of-the-art classification and predictive techniques such as support vector machine and decision trees, as well as several feature selection techniques. The results obtained are very promising and demonstrate that with only a reduced subset of variables high prediction rates are possible.

Digital campus is one important part to the digital earth and Internet of Things. Based on the analysis of the LBS performance, structure, function and the present research status of digital campus we propose a digital campus design project based on LBS and we discuss the architecture. We take a campus as a simulation implement. Map engine is the tool of implementation of the LBS platform. GIS is used here to give the navigation and the platform is combined and advanced with virtual reality technology such as VRML. Though the platform we achieve a terminal location, map query, three-dimensional browsing, navigation and guides tracking and monitoring, and other functions. The LBS platform improves the work and study efficiency of teachers and students, accelerates the construction and application of digital campus, and provides a new idea for the future development of digital campus system.

This paper presents the control design and test results of the high speed position control of a spherical pendulum system. Altogether three oscillatory modes are considered: two swing modes and a torsion mode. A sequence of input shapers including the Zero Vibration and Zero Vibration-Derivative shapers are implemented in the robot controller to minimize command induced cable swing. Experiment data confirms that the proposed sequential input shaper method minimizes oscillations as well as settling times of the test trajectory execution.

In this work, an application to simulate electric and magnetic phenomena during design of printed circuit boards (PCB) is presented. The commercial schematic simulation software currently uses advanced models of components, but not of connections. However, with Simul-EMI II it is possible to get results very close to physical reality of the electronic circuits, in the same environment of schematic simulation. The parasitic effects considered are: connection resistance (traces, solder pads and vias), insulation resistance (prepreg, air, solder mask, etc.), self inductance and capacity (traces, solder pads and vias) and mutual inductances and capacities. For that, several applications of data mining, parametric model extraction and knowledge management have been developed in the MATLAB™ environment. Finally, the results of a PCB simulation with PSPICE™ before and after Simul-EMI II application, together with the electronics laboratory validation tests, are shown.

In the current US day-ahead electricity markets, auction is complicated because of the existence of both discrete variables and continuous variables, which implies that there may be no linear prices to support equilibrium. To meet the system demand, the Independent System Operator (ISO) uses lump sum “uplift payments” to make generators follow its schedule. However, these uplift payments are opaque and difficult to hedge in terms of price signals. In addition, there are incentives for suppliers to bid other than their true costs. Untruthful bidding is undesirable, since in this case minimizing the total bid cost does not imply minimizing the total production cost, or maximizing the social welfare. As a result, the market may not be efficient. In this paper, system-wide redundant constraints on weighted generation levels are introduced to the day-ahead energy market to achieve equilibrium. With multipliers relaxing system demand constraints and redundant constraints serving as multipart prices, equilibrium can be achieved under the general condition that the optimal primal solution is among subproblem solutions for all units. Although incentive compatibility may not be achievable, the novel “local incentive compatibility” concept is introduced and quantified as the second best alternative to incentive compatibility.

A new approach to extract building objects was proposed. Firstly, rival penalized competitive learning(RPCL) algorithm was used to improve segmentation granularity of super-pixel algorithm based on graph theory;Secondly, the spatial envelope was used to classify the image patches using support vector machine (SVM) classifier, and distinguish building and non-building category in the image;Finally, building hypothesis in the image was verified based on structure of the building category. The experiments show on standard dataset that the proposed algorithm outperforms other similar algorithms on building extraction, and also meet the real-time requirements in general application.

Every day, hundreds or even thousands of computers are infected with financial malware (i.e. Zeus) that forces them to become zombies or drones, capable of joining massive financial botnets that can be hired by well-organized cyber-criminals in order to steal online banking customers' credentials. Despite the fact that detection and mitigation mechanisms for spam and DDoS-related botnets have been widely researched and developed, it is true that the passive nature (i.e. low network traffic, fewer connections) of financial botnets greatly hinder their countermeasures. Therefore, cyber-criminals are still obtaining high economical profits at relatively low risk with financial botnets. In this paper we propose the use of publicly available IP blacklists to detect both drones and Command & Control nodes that are part of financial botnets. To prove this hypothesis we have developed a formal framework capable of evaluating the quality of a blacklist by comparing it versus a baseline and taking into account different metrics. The contributed framework has been tested with approximately 500 million IP addresses, retrieved during a one-month period from seven different well-known blacklist providers. Our experimental results showed that these IP blacklists are able to detect both drones and C&C related with the Zeus botnet and most important, that it is possible to assign different quality scores to each blacklist based on our metrics. Finally, we introduce the basics of a high-performance IP reputation system that uses the previously obtained blacklists' quality scores, in order to reply almost in real-time whether a certain IP is a member of a financial botnet or not. Our belief is that such a system can be easily integrated into e-banking anti-fraud systems.
