The analysis of transportation data is considered as an essential application for Machine Learning (ML) based-intelligent transportation design and control especially for safety and improving energy management. There is a requirement to identify efficient methods for optimizing transportation operations and enhance traffic management. This study adopts exploratory data analysis to analyse transportation data including year, month, vehicle type, time period, area type, functional classification. Predictive analytics is used to predict vehicle speed as dependent variable. The study adopts four supervised ML models such as Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Random Forest Regression (RFR), Decision Tree (DT) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach for analysing the speed prediction factors. Speed prediction assists as a foundation of advanced traffic management systems. The results from the findings suggest that ANN and RFR are the commendable model for performance analytics. © 2023 IEEE.

This tutorial aims to introduce Event Graphs (EGs), invented 40 years ago by Lee Schruben to allow eventbased modeling of discrete dynamic systems. Their simplicity and naturalness in causality modelling and simulation modelling made EGs popular in research and practice. In a simulation, an event causes state changes in a system as well as other events to happen in the future. EGs provide a parsimonious diagram representation for the Event Scheduling paradigm of Discrete Event Simulation. We first introduce their visual syntax and informal semantics, and then present a recent extension by adding objects to EGs. Our tutorial also includes an introduction to the formal semantics of EGs and a Python implementation for executing EGs.

This research study examines the evolving ecosystem of network applications for enhancing connectivity and performance in 5G and beyond (B5G) networks. The objective is to streamline large-scale deployment of vertical applications through a middleware layer, facilitating interactions among network operators and third parties based on varying trust levels. The proposed model addresses the complexity and computational demands of enabling adaptable, secure, and scalable applications for diverse 5G platforms. In particular, this study highlights the 5G-EPICENTRE project, which enables traffic management and dynamic control, especially for missioncritical Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) applications. By optimizing resource allocation, the model reduces computational costs while meeting the unique demands of PPDR services, such as high-quality video and data for emergency operations. The model's effectiveness will be evaluated through experiments leveraging 5G Core (5GC) control-plane capabilities, with a focus on quality of service (QoS) and latency. Practical limitations, including the integration challenges of multi-network APIs, are discussed in the conclusion.

Facing the current sustainability challenges requires reduction of the building stock energy consumption towards the European Green Deal targets by 2050. This can be accomplished by adopting techniques such as fault detection and diagnosis, and efficiency optimization. An occupancy-based algorithm for scheduling ventilation operations in buildings is here developed, aimed at optimizing the system’s operation according to occupancy profiles while maintaining a comfortable indoor climate. By relying only on electricity meters without using carbon dioxide or occupancy sensors, we use historical data of an Estonian school to develop a DBSCAN-based clustering algorithm that generates consumption profiles. A novel occupancy estimation algorithm, based on threshold and time series methods, then creates 12 occupancy schedules that are either based on classical detection with on-off method or on occupancy estimation for demand-controlled ventilation (DCV). We find that, compared to standard on-off scheduling, DCV-based occupancy estimation induces systematic savings in terms of both energy and costs from 18.1% up to 62.6%, still complying with current national regulations of indoor air quality. Remarkably, as our method relies only on occupancy schedules, thus eliminating reliance on weather and other external factors, it can immediately be extended to other countries. © 2023, The Authors. Generally, for the buildings constructed in our areas, the conventional foundation known as 'shallow', i.e. from the ground level downwards, is set up in three dimensions such as length, width and depth. Foundations are not the same for all types of structures. The size and structure of the foundation varies depending on the nature of the prevailing soil, ground water level of the plot, type of building, and total load of the structure. In this paper an innovation estimation model was proposed based on light weigth deep learning technique. The proposed model introduces capacity estimation and energy efficiency plans and designs. These are all relating to commercial buildings, craft facilities and mass housing projects to enable design, construction. It also maintains the buildings under minimum energy consumption without stressing the operation of buildings. The health and comfort of the occupants are establishing compliance standards and ensure the maximum standards for energy efficiency in the plans or designs of commercial buildings. The proposed model also focuses the capacity estimation and energy efficiency programs beyond maximum standards. © 2023 IEEE.

Meat and dairy products are negatively impacted by a lack of technology in the livestock industry in developing countries. To cater for this challenge, the Internet of Things (IoT), Node-MCU, and intelligent wireless sensor nodes are deployed to create a new smart dairy monitoring system. A cow collar with a temperature sensor, a GPS module, and an environmental parameter regularization system are included. Data from modules is stored in a separate database using an innovative IoT -based front end. All the deployed WS nodes can determine whether the environment is stable or not at any given time. Sensors built inside cow collars can assess vital indications like temperature and pulse rate, as well as the animal's exact location. The design of the Cow collar also has a feature that automatically alerts the owner. The plug-and-play technology offered is designed to be easy to adapt. When a farm has many animals, automation decreases the need for human involvement and so lowers labor expenses. The exploitation of remote monitoring systems improves the health of the animals and hence yields a better amount of dairy. This study also includes a detailed comparison of the proposed implementation with current systems to demonstrate its originality. Other applications, such as smart monitoring of zoo animals and poultry, may be derived from the proposed technology. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents a new IOT system for monitoring and controlling plant cultivation in greenhouse system. The system aims to regulate and monitor the environmental conditions suitable for plant cultivation in real-time. The system utilizes sensors to measure environmental conditions, such as soil moisture sensor, light intensity sensor, temperature sensor, and air humidity sensor. The Node MCU ESP32 is used for processing and controlling these operations. The system is designed to send notifications through Line application and allows farmers to monitor the system's performance and plant growth in real-time via a smartphone application. It can utilize the Blynk IoT application on a smartphone for remotely monitoring and controlling the environmental conditions and provides historical data. This experiment demonstrates that the designed system can successfully cultivate plants and promote better growth compared to traditional cultivation methods with a 13.38% improvement. Additionally, it provides convenience and ease of management for plant cultivation.

The Internet of Things also referred to as IoT plays an important role in our everyday lives by allowing us to control electrical gadgets through networks. Controlling is accomplished by meticulously watching key parameters that produce critical information about the operation of this electrical equipment. At the same time, the critical information will transfer from the transmitting device and preserved on the cloud for apps and secondary processes to access. This investigation connects the results of environmental measures such as temperature and humidity taken by making use of sensors. The data acquired might be put to good use to create activities such as faraway dominating long-term statistics, cooling, or heating devices that can be utilised to govern the situation. The observed data is transferred to a cloud storage service through the internet and linked to an Android application. Arduino UNO and sensor devices, and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module are used in the system. Using Arduino UNO. The testing and findings will disclose the live temperature and humidity of the surroundings, as well as the soil moisture of sample soil.. The sensor element is used to check the humidity and temperature using the DHT 11 sensor. The sensors are used to take temperature readings from the environment and store the data on Thinkspeak Cloud. The ESP8266 Wi-Fi module was utilized to connect with the internet and store the data on the Thinkspeak cloud in this project. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative approach to identifying defects in alloy wheel production by integrating image processing techniques with a mobile application platform. The system receives X-ray alloy images from the factory via mobile phone, processes them using image processing techniques to enhance clarity and readiness for defect detection, and then transmits the processed images to a Django framework via a uniform resource locator (URL). Subsequently, the system detects defects in the images, encodes them in Base64 format, and sends them to the mobile application through an API (Application Program Interface) for display on the user interface. This well-designed system architecture offers manufacturers a comprehensive solution to ensure product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
