This paper presents an innovative approach to identifying defects in alloy wheel production by integrating image processing techniques with a mobile application platform. The system receives X-ray alloy images from the factory via mobile phone, processes them using image processing techniques to enhance clarity and readiness for defect detection, and then transmits the processed images to a Django framework via a uniform resource locator (URL). Subsequently, the system detects defects in the images, encodes them in Base64 format, and sends them to the mobile application through an API (Application Program Interface) for display on the user interface. This well-designed system architecture offers manufacturers a comprehensive solution to ensure product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

The adoption of Battery Electric Buses (BEBs) in electric public transit systems presents a significant opportunity for advancing sustainable transportation. However, it also poses challenges to the coupled electric transport and energy systems, particularly concerning the safety and efficiency of Power Distribution Networks (PDN). This study introduces a comprehensive BEB-PDN framework designed for the joint optimization of charging infrastructure, charging scheduling, and integration of renewable energy resources, with a specific focus on their impacts on PDN. The complexity of the proposed model is primarily due to its extensive decision variables and nonlinear constraints. To address this, a decomposition approach is employed, linearizing the problem and dividing it into master and subproblems for efficient resolution. A case study in Skövde, Sweden demonstrates that without renewable energy integration, high charging demands from BEBs can lead to PDN safety violations, such as significant voltage drops at certain nodes. The incorporation of renewable energy sources with battery energy storage in the BEB transit system is shown to enhance the PDN's stability and safety while catering to the system's spatiotemporal charging demands. This study offers an optimization framework for the integrated planning of charging infrastructure, BEB systems, and renewable energy, providing empirical insights into their potential benefits. © 2024, The Authors. The purpose of this research aims to monitor, analyze, and compare the performance of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) between the selective cloud providers. To assure which cloud provider has more stability, reliability, and scalability. This paper focuses on performance testing based on a deployed web server in the cloud environment. The main feature of cloud computing is scalability thus most common IaaS cloud service providers (CSPs) have Auto Scaling features for instances or virtual machines. Not only does this paper gives the experimental results of the scaling scalability testing, but it also provides the results of recovery testing to inspect how long a web server is able to recover from failures and load testing which simulated traffic requests. Testing was conducted in the major public clouds of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Azure performs the most efficiently of almost all testing but hardest to configure.

The paper deals with the issues of metamerism in multimedia and telecommunication paths. Attention is focused on the end devices of the end-to-end path. A comparison is made in the assessments using traditional coordinate systems for representing colors, and in the coordinates of modern color models CAM16, CAM20u, ZCAM. Numerical differences in the obtained data are shown under the same input conditions. Statistical data of metamer estimates using Mac Adam ellipses are presented. A study was conducted in the work, showing that the spectral compositions of colors can be perceived as one color (based on McAdam's data), but when processed, their number can be different. Based on research, we can say that the differences can reach to 15%. When processing ZCAM models, the number of colors taken into account during transmission will be greater, which makes it possible to reduce the degree of influence of metamerism on color reproduction.

This tutorial aims to introduce Event Graphs (EGs), invented 40 years ago by Lee Schruben to allow eventbased modeling of discrete dynamic systems. Their simplicity and naturalness in causality modelling and simulation modelling made EGs popular in research and practice. In a simulation, an event causes state changes in a system as well as other events to happen in the future. EGs provide a parsimonious diagram representation for the Event Scheduling paradigm of Discrete Event Simulation. We first introduce their visual syntax and informal semantics, and then present a recent extension by adding objects to EGs. Our tutorial also includes an introduction to the formal semantics of EGs and a Python implementation for executing EGs. © 2023 IEEE.

We use fixed relays deployed by network operators to reduce re-transmission (thereby reducing network power requirements) in addition to providing excellent end-to-end error performance in a revisit to automatic repeat request-based cooperative relaying. The new relaying scheme facilitates the creation of a connectivity suitable for delay tolerant internet-of-things (IoT)-type services. For IoT devices, link reliability and power efficiency are a major system design consideration. The proposed scheme operates in the following fashion. The source (e.g., a sensor) transmits for a certain time window. During this period, the source and the relays do not require per transmission acknowledgment (ACK) from the destination. At the end of a transmission window, the destination sends a 'group' ACK. If negative, relays are invited to help. Depending on the cooperation strategy, each relay transmits in either one transmission time slot or a few time slots, using a suitably chosen higher-order modulation constellation. If no error occurs, the source continues its transmission. Furthermore, we devise a novel strategy for selecting the best relay for this new way of exploiting the benefits of multiple relays in a network. In the process, we reclaim the bandwidth expansion that comes with multi-relay system but still maintaining E2E bit error rate that is superior to that of a single relay cooperation. Numerical results that reveal the benefits of the new and modified ARQ cooperative relaying scheme are presented. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents an agent-based model (ABM) to simulate and compare two different operation strategies of a public transport service in small-sized cities, namely a fixed-route transit (FRT) and a demand-responsive transport (DRT) service, under varying demand rates and supply configurations. The ABM builds upon a previous work by the Authors, where flexible and feeder services of a Mass Rapid Transit system were simulated. In this paper, instead of a many-to-one pattern typical of a feeder service, we considered a many-to-many one. The objective is to investigate the conditions that make a DRT more attractive than a FRT in small-sized cities and guide its design considering the demand fluctuation, land-use pattern, service constraints and passenger preferences. A dispatching algorithm for the DRT allows to assign each new trip request to a vehicle, and a couple of origin and destination stops, updating the vehicle schedule in real time. The service includes fixed and virtual stops, allowing request consolidation and balancing operator-related (cost of the service) and user-related (quality of service) needs. The model is applied to Vittoria (Italy), a small city with 60,000 residents in Southern Italy where most trips are made by car, also due to the absence of an urban public transport service. First results highlight the benefits of providing a flexible service compared to a fixed one to minimize detours, waiting times and walking distances experienced by passengers while allowing for a higher shareability and efficiency of the service.

The aim of this paper is to study the possibility of improving the gamma/hadron discrimination in extensive air showers. For this purpose, the identification of hadronic extensive air showers is carried out by means of the detection of muons in water Cherenkov detectors (WCDs). Machine learning algorithms have proven to be useful in a wide variety of fields, and due to their outstanding performance in problems involving complex data, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been used in the analysis of the signals measured by the WCDs. Taking simulated events, different approaches were proposed attending to the balance of the classes in the training stage. The results obtained are promising and show that machine learning algorithms provide a powerful tool for muon detection and gamma/hadron discrimination to be considered in future gamma-rays detectors like The Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO) to be built in South America. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Cross-layer Protocols for proper resource Allocation in Mobile Networks are a singular technique to enhance the efficiency of wireless networks. The method utilizes multiple layers of the radio protocol stack better to coordinate cell node scheduling and resource allocation. Using combining communication, routing, and scheduling functionalities in an unmarried protocol, pass-Layer Protocols for proper resource Allocation can offer a sizable will increase in the number of facts that may be transferred and the overall latency and throughput of the community. This technique can also enhance the radio interface’s operation by lowering interference and encouraging collaborative communications. Eventually, by using facts and managing records from the communique and routing layers, go-Layer Protocols for proper resource Allocation can reduce the complexity of the community, even offering greater scalability. This paper affords unique cross-Layer Protocols for resource Allocation in Cellular Networks. The proposed protocol permits integrated resource allocation in the cell network environment, considering communication and computation layers.
