Recombination is a key component for the evolutionary algorithm to provide promising offspring solutions. However, conventional recombination operators cannot generate high-quality solutions for variable linkages problems due to the particularity of Pareto sets(PS). To tackle this problem, a two-stage multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on direction vector guidance(DSMOEA) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a portion of the population is transformed by a covariance matrix to increase the probability of generating high-quality offspring. Then the representative solutions are selected in the transformed population to create the direction vectors. Under the guidance of the direction vectors, the population rapidly approaches PS and generates promising offspring solutions. Finally, DE is performed for searching globally to increase the diversity of the population. The proposed algorithm is tested on RM, IM, and UF test problems with 30, 50, and 100 dimensions to verify its performance. The experimental results show that the algorithm is promising for variable linkages problems. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has grown and emerged in the tourism industry. It offering immersive and interactive experiences, VR has transformed how people discover and interact with the VRML and people interact with different destinations. This article explores the use of VR in tourism, and focusing on Virtual Reality Markup Language (VRML) and its role in showcasing the evolution of head-mounted displays (HMDs) and the various applications of VR. It emphasizes how VR can improve travel experiences, aid in destination planning, preserve cultural heritage, support adventure tourism, and revolutionize destination marketing. The article also gives the challenges and limitations faced by VR in tourism, as well as future trends and opportunities in the field. The article impact of VR on the tourism industry and discusses the combination of Augmented Reality (AR) and VR to create virtual art exhibitions in physical and online spaces. Additionally, it provides insights into the future of VR, AR, and Mixed Reality (MR), the use of VRML, and the development of 3D modeling for creating virtual environments that help users achieve learning objectives.

This paper presents a recommender system to promote energy consumption reduction behaviors in residential buildings. The system exploits data stream processing methods jointly with machine learning algorithms on real-time residential data. Specifically, the data stream includes disaggregated power consumption, context, and weather conditions data. Internally the system converts time-series data streams into discrete ordered data points, which serve as inputs for training ML models. This method is used to predict power consumption anomalies. Gradually, the system helps to shape its users' activities into more energy-efficient ones. The experimental evaluation on real and simulated datasets demonstrates the promising performance of the proposed method, primarily when the K-neighbors neighbors' algorithm is used to classify the features extracted with interleaving current with the previous data points. The performance assessment of the machine learning algorithms shows the suitability of our implementation for Edge and Fog platforms in terms of accuracy, latency, and model size. © 2022 IEEE.

With the gradual development in industrialization, the advent of computer and information technology has evolved in the field of engineering and construction industry. BIM technology has become a valuable part of prefabricated concrete engineering with the advancement of modern technology based on 3D modeling simulation. In order to realize the industrialization and automation of prefabricated concrete structures, this paper analyzes the characteristics of fabricated concrete structure and BIM, combining the two techniques. This work applies BIM to fabricated concrete design and chooses finite element analysis and calculation software ETABS to analyze the structure model. The results show that the mass participation ratio of the model studied in this paper reaches more than 90%, the interlayer displacement angle is less than 1/550, and the modal and shell internal force analysis results meet the requirements. In this paper, modal analysis, shell internal force analysis under live load and structural dynamic analysis under response spectrum load conditions were carried out on the ETABS model converted from the Revit model and the model directly established by ETABS. The ETABS model converted from the Revit model by the data interface plug-in can be used for structural analysis. © 2023, CAD Solutions, LLC. All rights reserved.

Smart cities, through investment in human and social capital as well as traditional and modern communications infrastructure, drive sustainable economic growth and high quality of life. IoT devices, as crucial components of smart cities, leverage the Federated Learning (FL) paradigm to contribute significantly to the advancement of smart cities by providing the value of data while safeguarding local data. However, existing federated learning frameworks for smart cities face several issues, including excessive centralization of decision-making and data, unbalanced resource allocation, and security and privacy concerns. To address these challenges, This paper aims to propose a blockchain-based federated learning framework for IoT devices in smart cities. We combine multiple security and privacy-preserving techniques such as differential privacy and Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) with federated learning to establish a framework that facilitates secure and trustworthy data exchange and FL requirements for IoT devices in smart cities. Moreover, we offload the local training computation from the limited IoT devices to the edge server and execute trust aggregation on the blockchain smart contracts. We build a prototype of our designed system and conduct experiments on diverse federated learning datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that our scheme achieves high efficiency while ensuring security and privacy. Through this work, we provide a viable solution for federated learning in smart cities, thereby advancing the sustainable development and intelligence of smart cities.

With the rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles (AVs), or self-driving cars, rely heavily on real-time data sharing and message exchanges over wireless networks. AVs use sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced algorithms to perform various functions, enabling users to operate without human intervention. Owing to the flexibility and high mobility of drones, they could aid in the operations of AVs. However, the security and privacy are the main concerns;specifically, the threat of physical capture and violation of anonymity are the main hurdles for realization of secure communication among the AVs and drones. To address these challenges, we propose an anonymous and provably Secure Lightweight Authentication Protocol for unmanned-aerial-vehicle-assisted Internet of Autonomous Vehicles (SLAP-IoAV). The proposed protocol uses cryptographic primitives such as exclusive-OR operations, elliptic-curve cryptography, collision-resistant one-way hashing, and concatenation to ensure robust security. An informal security analysis found that SLAP-IoAV is secure against several known attacks, and a performance analysis established that the protocol has less computational and communication overhead than existing competitive protocols. Additionally, Scyther simulation results confirm that no security vulnerabilities are present. Overall, our protocol delivers superior security and performance, making it well-suited to real-world applications in the AV industry. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

This research presents a novel electromagnetic-based sensor for inline measurement of unmilled rice paddy moisture content in the rice mill factory. The proposed sensor has been designed based on the modified planar dipole structure at the operating frequency of 440 MHz. The unmilled rice dielectric constant properties have been studied and applied for characterizing the moisture content. The unmilled rice moisture content sensor system then has been designed consisting of the proposed sensor, a microwave signal generator, a microwave signal detector, and a microcontroller. The moisture content sensor system has been implemented and used for measuring the unmilled rice paddy moisture content in a real rice mill factory in Udon Thani province, Thailand. When compared with the commercial rice moisture content tool based on a capacitance technique, the proposed rice moisture content sensor system gives almost same results, which only about 4% difference has been found.

The increasing prevalence of botnet attacks in IoT networks has led to the development of deep learning techniques for their detection. However, conventional centralized deep learning models pose challenges in simultaneously ensuring user data privacy and detecting botnet attacks. To address this issue, this study evaluates the efficacy of Federated Learning (FL) in detecting IoT malware traffic while preserving user privacy. The study employs N-BaIoT, a dataset of real-world IoT network traffic infected by malware, and compares the effectiveness of FL models using Convolutional Neural Network, Long Short-Term Memory, and Gated Recurrent Unit models with a centralized approach. The results indicate that FL can achieve high performance in detecting abnormal traffic in IoT networks, with the CNN model yielding the best results among the three models evaluated. The study recommends the use of FL for IoT malware traffic detection due to its ability to preserve data privacy. © 2024 Global IT Research Institute - GIRI.

With the advancing technology, the hardware gain of computers and the increase in the processing capacity of processors have facilitated the processing of instantaneous and real-time images. Face recognition processes are also studies in the field of image processing. Facial recognition processes are frequently used in security applications and commercial applications. Especially in the last 20 years, the high performances of artificial intelligence (AI) studies have contributed to the spread of these studies in many different fields. Education is one of them. The potential and advantages of using AI in education;can be grouped under three headings: student, teacher, and institution. One of the institutional studies may be the security of educational environments and the contribution of automation to education and training processes. From this point of view, deep learning methods, one of the sub-branches of AI, were used in this study. For object detection from images, a pioneering study has been designed and successfully implemented to keep records of students' entrance to the educational institution and to perform class attendance with images taken from the camera using image processing algorithms. The application of the study to real-life problems will be carried out in a school determined in the 2022-2023 academic year. © 2023, CC BY.

Epilepsy is a medical problem that tackles lots of patients. It limits the life activity of such patients due to the seizures that occur anytime and anywhere. Thus, creating a monitoring system that could make their life easier and allow them to perform daily life activities as safe as possible has been studied. This paper is a continuity for a project where a system monitors epileptic patients using a set of wearable sensors connected to several processing units, the main sensors are Electroencephalogram (EEG) for the electrical activity of the brain, electrocardiogram (ECG) for the electrical activity of the heart, and accelerometers to monitor the posture of the patient, features extracted from EEG and ECG signals are used for prediction/detection of seizures. Thus, the objective of this paper is to present a comparative study in order to choose the appropriate classification method for seizure prediction and detection. Five classification methods were studied: Decision Trees, Discriminant Analysis, Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Ensemble Learning. For each of the classification methods, the accuracy, the specificity, the sensitivity, the precision, the false detection rate and the Fmeasure were studied and compared. The results for seizure prediction system show that the highest accuracy, specificity and F-Measure, and lowest false detection rate were achieved with Bagged Trees Ensemble Learning, the highest sensitivity and precision were achieved with Quadratic Support Vector Machine. However, for seizure detection system, the highest accuracy and F-Measure were achieved with Linear Support Vector, the highest sensitivity and specificity were achieved with Fine Gaussian Support Vector Machine, and the highest precision and lowest false detection rate were achieved with Subspace Discriminant Ensemble Learning. © 2020 IEEE.
