Asia stands out as a priority for urgent biodiversity conservation due to its large protected areas(PAs)and threatened *** the 21st century,both the highlands and lowlands of Asia have been experiencing the dramatic human ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity is poorly ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity over 2000 to 2020 in Asia at the continental(Asia),national(48 Asian countries),and hotspot(6,502 Asian terrestrial PAs established before 2000)scales is investigated by integrating multiple large-scale *** results show that human expansion poses widespread threat to biodiversity in Asia,especially in Southeast Asia,with Malaysia,Cambodia,and Vietnam having the largest threat degrees(~1.5 to 1.7 times of the Asian average level).Human expansion in highlands induces higher threats to biodiversity than that in lowlands in one-third Asian countries(most Southeast Asian countries).The regions with threats to biodiversity are present in~75%terrestrial PAs(including 4,866 PAs in 26 countries),and human expansion in PAs triggers higher threat degrees to biodiversity than that in *** findings provide novel insight for the Sustainable Development Goal 15(SDG-15 Life on Land)and suggest that human expansion in Southeast Asian countries and PAs might hinder the realization of *** reduce the threat degree,Asian developing countries should accelerate economic transformation,and the developed countries in the world should reduce the demands for commodity trade in Southeast Asian countries(i.e.,trade leading to the loss of wildlife habitats)to alleviate human expansion,especially in PAs and highlands.

Gray matter and white matter are fundamental constituents of the brain, and exploring the relationship between them is for gaining insights into the intricate architecture of the brain. This study utilizes information extracted from the gray matter surface of the brain to predict the trajectories of white matter fibers. Specifically, it predicts the coordinates of fiber trajectories by utilizing both fiber endpoints and reference points on the cortical surface. Both qualitative analysis and extensive quantitative experiments confirm that information derived from the brain's cortical surface can be employed to predict fiber trajectories. Furthermore, this conclusion remains robust across diverse fiber tracking and surface reconstruction techniques. The study introduces a novel perspective, elucidating the fundamental principles of fiber connectivity and the intricate relationship between gray matter and white matter.

SAMOYE: ZERO-SHOT SINGING VOICE CONVERSION MODEL BASED ON FEATURE DISENTANGLEMENT AND ENHANCEMENT

Singing voice conversion (SVC) aims to convert a singer’s voice to another singer’s from a reference audio while keeping the original semantics. However, existing SVC methods can hardly perform zero-shot due to incomplete feature disentanglement or dependence on the speaker look-up table. We propose the first open-source high-quality zero-shot SVC model SaMoye that can convert singing to human and non-human timbre. SaMoye disentangles the singing voice’s features into content, timbre, and pitch features, where we combine multiple ASR models and compress the content features to reduce timbre leakages. Besides, we enhance the timbre features by unfreezing the speaker encoder and mixing the speaker embedding with top-3 similar speakers. We also establish an unparalleled large-scale dataset to guarantee zero-shot performance, which comprises more than 1,815 hours of pure singing voice and 6,367 speakers. We conduct objective and subjective experiments to find that SaMoye outperforms other models in zero-shot SVC tasks even under extreme conditions like converting singing to animals’ timbre. Using Mobile Sinks in WSN: Computational Complexity and a Theoretical Bound

In this paper, we study the lifetime optimization problem in wireless sensor networks using mobile sink nodes. This problem is inherently difficult since we need to consider both sink scheduling and data routing. Through a simple case study we develop a novel notation named the Placement pattern (PP) to bound traffic patterns with candidate locations. This significantly decreases the number of elements needed to be scheduled. Based on the PP, we mathematically formulate this optimization problem as a Mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP), which is very tough and time consuming to solve. By proving that the problem is NP-complete, we point out that instead of seeking an optimal algorithm, heuristic algorithms, especially those with performance guarantee, would be much more desirable to develop. Furthermore, in order to help identify performance gains of heuristic algorithms proposed in the future, we develop a Linear programming (LP) formulation which serves as an upper bound by adopting a reformulation and relaxation technique.

This article analyzes the irreversibility of hydro-magnetic dynamics of hybridized nanofluid comprising of titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) and zinc-oxide (ZnO) submerged into engine oil (used as a fuel) through a porous stretching sheet with multipart effects of viscous dissipation and non-uniform heat source. An induced magnetic field exists in the flow field due to the conducting nature of the hybrid nanofluid. The equations of the flow model are transformed by the similarity transformations and then simulated through a numerical scheme constructed with a formulation of central differences that adopts successive over-relaxation methodology. In this thermodynamic system, entropy and Bejan number profiles corresponding to the prominent parameters are simultaneously analysed for both the nanofluid case and hybrid nanofluid case in the Cartesian coordinates. A comparison table is constructed to validate the numerical results with existing literature. The impacts of various parameters on Nusselt number and skin friction coefficient are graphed with reference to the magnetic field parameter. A significant reduction in irreversibility and a remarkable improvement in thermal characteristics of engine oil are observed due to induced magnetism effects. The engine oil hybrid nanofluid (Ti6Al4V-ZnO/EO) exhibits a 13.89 % higher heat transfer rate over a porous stretching surface compared to the engine oil nanofluid (Ti6Al4V/EO). © 2025 The Authors

Trajectory representation learning (TRL) is an intermediate step in handling trajectory data to realize various downstream machine-learning tasks. While most previous TRL research focuses on modeling structured movements in large-scale urban spaces (e.g., cars or pedestrians on streets), this paper focuses on a more challenging scenario of modeling free movement in small-scale social spaces (e.g., children playing in a schoolyard). We present a TRL model, SiamCircle, to process raw trajectories without additional feature extraction to prevent information loss. SiamCircle adopts a Siamese network with Circle Loss to learn trajectory embeddings. Furthermore, SiamCircle employs a data augmentation process to enable self-supervised learning and enrich the input data to address the limited access to high-quality data and ground truth. We evaluate the performance of SiamCircle in downstream tasks using trajectory ranking and clustering performance via seven evaluation metrics collectively. Using an ablation study, we explored the impact of different loss functions on the model’s performance. Accordingly, we selected a 2-D convolutional design with Circle Loss as the best-performing model. In a comparative study, we compared our model against three other baselines. We observed up to 19% improvements in trajectory ranking tasks and achieved the highest average rank in supervised clustering tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Since Thailand has now completely stepped into an aged society there are more than 20% of the population aged 60 years and over. There was also an increase in those who had problems with their balance. One of the main difficulties for these people is walking on their own. This paper presents an automatic walking aid for people with balance or walking problems. A specially designed automatic walking aid can be adjusted to six levels of height. It has an anti-collision warning system at a distance of up to 40 centimeters and displays GPS coordinates via SMS when falling. The experimental results of the prototype automatic walking aid showed that the walking aid could work as designed and could help people with balance problems walk more comfortably. © 2023 IEEE.

It is believed that using electric vehicles (EVs) for transportation is essential for addressing environmental and sustainable development challenges. Current ecofriendly concerns, such as the fast depletion of fossil fuels, rising air pollution, rising energy demand, global warming, and climate change, have made it possible to electrify the transportation industry. EVs can address all of the aforementioned issues. For electric vehicles (EVs), and particularly those powered by lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, portable power supplies have become indispensable. Although Li- ion batteries have been the focus of EV research for a long time, issues like battery aging and safety have yet to be fully understood. According to our current understanding of smart technology, we have the ability to use the digital twin (DT) to overcome a problem that has been holding back battery development, as well as the preliminary DT applications in complicated systems such as industry 4.0. This research focuses on the characteristics of batteries and how they relate to their modeling, state estimation, remaining usable life prediction, safety, and control. We put together an analysis of some of the most current achievements in battery prognostics and health monitoring. Finally, we provide prospects for the development of DTs in the field of EV batteries. © 2022 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks have been implemented in various software to help gather and analyze data from the physical world. Wireless sensor networks are networks of multiple tiny sensors powered by low-energy batteries (WSNs). WSN lifetime is a critical factor. This is because, after WSNs have been deployed in a given application, the inaccessibility of the sensing nodes makes it impossible to recharge or replace the power source that is limited in energy. Until recently, WSNs were thought to be the same. All the network nodes have the same power, processing speed, and operational capacity. However, scientists have developed heterogeneous WSNs, in which the properties of individual nodes may vary, to extend the lifespan of networks. In order to extend a network's helpful life, energy-efficient protocols must be designed. Even though WSN has its own problems, it has brought a fresh perspective to studying real-time intelligent systems. WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) has gained significant popularity in the recent years, owing to its vast applications in real-time scenarios, such as disaster management, pollution monitoring, temperature monitoring, traffic monitoring, transport monitoring, healthcare monitoring, battlefield monitoring, and border security surveillance, to name a few. Numerous sensor nodes are employed in these applications. They are typically placed in the sensing field, where they automatically transfer data to the base station (BS) through energy transmission (i.e., battery in the sensor). In WSN, clustering is one method for optimizing power consumption at the sensor node. The sensor nodes are grouped and given a leader when they undergo clustering. This study overviews various WSN clustering algorithms, each categorized according to various clustering properties.

Fossil fuels and air pollution are significant problems nowadays, causing many countries to increase their investments in renewable energy development. As the world's energy demand grows, governments are looking into and developing alternative energy sources like solar energy. Solar energy is one of the most promising solutions to address the above problem. In addition, the development of sustainable design in architecture has become a crucial factor in the construction industry as the world faces the challenges of climate change and diminishing fossil fuel reserves. Architects are now seeking innovative ways to incorporate sustainable and renewable energy sources into their designs. Solar energy, as a sustainable and clean energy source, has gained significant attention in recent years. It offers an opportunity to reduce the dependence on non-renewable energy sources and lower carbon emissions. Additionally, the use of solar technology in architectural designs can enhance the aesthetic appeal of buildings while providing energy efficiency. Building-integrated photovoltaic systems have emerged as a popular solution that allows for the integration of photovoltaic cells into the structure of buildings. In this paper, a new architectural design for a building in Tehran is proposed, which leads to the increase of generated solar energy. Needless to say, the designs must be beautiful to look at, functional, and good for the environment. Grasshopper and rhino are utilized to demonstrate the design. In addition, System Advisor Model (SAM) is implemented to study the economic analysis of the solar photovoltaic system planted on the building. The simulation result indicates that with the new design, the power production is increased from 21437 kWh to 69484 kWh. In addition, by using the proposed system in comparison with fossil fuel power plants, a huge amount of air pollution is will be removed from the air.
