This paper will conclude the integration between smart interior design and Artificial Intelligence including sustainability within design principles and functions. Presenting "Empower hub" a center that is specifically devoted to people with physical disabilities that concludes AI in the infrastructure. Using sustainable materials and energy-efficient lighting are the objectives. This can include solar power smart systems and adaptive technology, which greatly assist people with various types of impairments, and it is not adequately integrated in many sectors. The design focus is to address the special needs of people with visual, auditory, or mobility impairments, utilize state-of-the-art adaptive technology. Therefore, navigation assistance and motion detection systems are being proposed for the center. The smart prototypes will process data and sensors that will detect movements for smooth access. In addition to proximity sensors that can be vocal to ensure audio assistance. Most of those sensors will be powered by solar energy to ensure the sustainable factor of the project in addition to reducing energy consumption. Overall, the research will conclude the integration of AI and interior design while applying sustainable design principles in interior design with the integration of machine learning to benefit people of determination in order of accessibility and function to allow them to give back to society by giving them easy access to ensure their safety and wellbeing. © 2024 IEEE

Bridge structures are exposed to several chronic and abrupt stressors, among which the combined effects of corrosion and earthquakes pose a major threat to their long-term safety. Probabilistic risk assessment frameworks that quantify and propagate uncertainties inherent to these phenomena are necessary to mitigate this threat. This paper proposes a dynamic Bayesian network for state-dependent seismic fragility functions, capturing corrosion and seismic effects over time. Markovian transitions among deterioration states for different bridge components are developed, combining chloride diffusion and corrosion propagation models with non-stationary Gamma processes. State-dependent fragility curves are derived based on non-linear dynamic time-history analyses given possible degradation configurations of the structure, accounting for uncertainties in material, geometry, and deterioration parameters. Record-to-record variability is captured using synthetic ground motions. Results on a 4-span Gerber bridge showcase the suitability of the framework for describing life-cycle fragility, and its capacity for embedding in advanced algorithmic decision-making workflows is discussed. © 2023 The Author(s).

The Internet of Drones (IoD) extends the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to participate in a connected network. In IoD infrastructure, drones communicate not only among themselves but also with users and a control center. This interconnected communication framework holds promise for various applications, from collaborative decision-making to real-time data exchange. However, the expansion of communication in IoD also introduces new challenges, particularly in terms of security, privacy and authentication. Unfortunately, the current authentication protocols are inadequate in offering robust security features against various attacks in the IoD environment. To address these security issues and limitations, we proposed a secure protocol for the IoD environment using chaotic maps and hash functions. In addition, we also employed a physically unclonable function in the development of the proposed protocol. We assess the security of the protocol through both informal and formal security analysis. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used random or real (RoR) model. The informal analysis shows the rigorous security features against various attacks, such as masquerading, anonymity violation, and physical cloning attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of the devised protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters, such as communication overhead, computation overhead, and security features. The devised protocol provides a 67.86% and 17.80% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, as compared to related protocols. The analysis demonstrates the proposed protocol's capacity to support secure communication in the IoD environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2014 IEEE.

Understanding the regions where proteins bind to peptides is vital for studying diseases like cancer, as it sheds light on various cellular processes and aids in drug discovery. Although researchers can experimentally investigate protein-peptide interactions at the region level by analyzing the structures of their complexes, only a limited number of these structures are known. Additionally, experiments to determine these interactions can be both costly and time-consuming. Computational methods provide an alternative and complementary approach to experimental techniques. As a result, using computational methods to predict peptide-binding regions can significantly enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of experimental research. To leverage these advantages, this study introduces a new method named Structure-based Prediction of Residue-level Interaction of Peptides (SPRINT-Pep), designed to pinpoint the binding regions between proteins and peptides. This approach leverages two distinct predictive models: a classification-based model combining DeepResNet with a Support Vector Machine (SVM) and a segmentation-based model called DeepU-Net. Our predictions outperform other state-of-the-art methods in terms of F-measures (by at least 23%), precision (by at least 3.7%), and the balance between sensitivity and specificity (by about 7.7%). These findings demonstrate the proficiency of the proposed method. © 2025 IEEE.

Fossil fuels and air pollution are significant problems nowadays, causing many countries to increase their investments in renewable energy development. As the world's energy demand grows, governments are looking into and developing alternative energy sources like solar energy. Solar energy is one of the most promising solutions to address the above problem. In addition, the development of sustainable design in architecture has become a crucial factor in the construction industry as the world faces the challenges of climate change and diminishing fossil fuel reserves. Architects are now seeking innovative ways to incorporate sustainable and renewable energy sources into their designs. Solar energy, as a sustainable and clean energy source, has gained significant attention in recent years. It offers an opportunity to reduce the dependence on non-renewable energy sources and lower carbon emissions. Additionally, the use of solar technology in architectural designs can enhance the aesthetic appeal of buildings while providing energy efficiency. Building-integrated photovoltaic systems have emerged as a popular solution that allows for the integration of photovoltaic cells into the structure of buildings. In this paper, a new architectural design for a building in Tehran is proposed, which leads to the increase of generated solar energy. Needless to say, the designs must be beautiful to look at, functional, and good for the environment. Grasshopper and rhino are utilized to demonstrate the design. In addition, System Advisor Model (SAM) is implemented to study the economic analysis of the solar photovoltaic system planted on the building. The simulation result indicates that with the new design, the power production is increased from 21437 kWh to 69484 kWh. In addition, by using the proposed system in comparison with fossil fuel power plants, a huge amount of air pollution is will be removed from the air. © 2023 IEEE.

Assessment of changes in a technical condition of railway bridges using a novel probabilistic algorithm

Planning of rehabilitation work is important for the safety of transport infrastructure. This problem needs to be properly solved, therefore a new algorithm for planning railway bridge maintenance is proposed. The input data come from periodic inspections that assess the technical condition of a bridge. These assessments are processed using hybrid Extended Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and Dominant Analytic Hierarchy Process methods. The main part of the algorithm is the Statistic Bridge Analyser, which allows a multi-variant analysis of the impact of inaccuracy and uncertainties in sub-assessments. It also takes into account a relationship between individual bridge components and estimates missing assessments using archive data. The algorithm performance has been confirmed by analysing nine different scenarios involving ranking of 10 selected railway bridges on Maintenance, Repair & Rehabilitation (MR&R) list. It has been demonstrated that even a small error in the sub-assessment of the technical condition of one element can result in a significant change in assessment of the bridge technical condition. Considering the relationship between criteria also generates changes in the final assessment of the bridge technical condition and may result in changes in position on MR&R list. This allows to avoid sudden failures, especially with limited financial resources. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This preliminary study explored how to make otherwise passive bystanders into an integral part of a virtual reality (VR) experience using asymmetric game design. We present a fully implemented collaborative VR game, co-designed by Namibian school children. The team needs to solve puzzles, whereby one player, using a VR headset, enters the digital world of Candyland, communicating with the other teammates, who are using a printed puzzle book. Ten Namibian school children, split into three groups, evaluated the game. Both the children inside and outside of VR were excited and eager to play the game through, despite the game being too complex, with too little feedback and a number of design issues, which required much guidance from the researchers. © 2022 Owner/Author.

Living lab, one of the recent emerging smart city concepts, faces long-term sustainability challenges associated with its complexity and breadth of use. To be efficient, it must rely on comprehensive set of information distributed appropriately among all stakeholders to unleash its full innovation potential. This is especially true in the case of positive energy districts (PEDs), where timely data dissemination is essential for prosumager decisions and their greedy behavior. This article interconnects intelligent information exchange, supported by ultralow latency hybrid access network infrastructure, with the clever use of available fog computing resources to properly disseminate complex energy details to all participating entities. As the optimal task offloading for effective information distribution constitutes the convergence problem, we reintroduced higher order neural units. These units contribute to sustaining both computational and energy efficiency, as well as the balance of the entire system. We have achieved a reliable hourly energy consumption prediction with a computationally very lightweight alternative to commonly used deep neural network approaches that can be deployed on available smart appliances with ease. The application and simulation were performed on the data set provided by one of Europe's smart city pioneers, where the prosumager PED transition has already started. © 2023 IEEE.

Virtual staining has shown great promise in realizing a rapid and low-cost clinical alternative for pathological examinations, eliminating the need for chemical reagents and laborious staining procedures. However, most of the previous studies mainly focus on thin slice samples, which still require tissue sectioning and are unsuitable for intraoperative use. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale model to virtually stain label-free and slide-free biological tissues, allowing hematoxylin- and eosin- (H&E) staining generation in less than a minute for an image with 100 million pixels. We name this ThickV-Stain model, specifically developed to virtually stain intricated and unprocessed thick tissues. We harness the ability of a multi-scale network to encourage the model to capture multiple-level micromorphological characteristics from low-resolution images. Experimental results highlight the advantages of our method for virtual staining on unprocessed thick samples. We also show the effectiveness of ThickV-Stain on thin sections, showing generalizability to other clinical workflows. The proposed method enables us to obtain virtually stained images from unstained samples within minutes and can be seamlessly integrated with downstream pathological analysis tasks, providing an efficient alternative scheme for intraoperative assessment as well as general pathological examination. © 2024 CC-BY 4.0, L. We have been witnessing a rapid growth in quantum computing research over the years, with the emergence of demonstrable quantum computers of moderate size. The major issues that are faced to run a quantum algorithm reliably on these systems are: (i) lower qubit coherence period, (ii) noisy primitive gate operations, (iii) limited number of available physical qubits, and (iv) support of restricted set of 2-qubit operations. Overcoming these issues mandates physical resources that exceeds the capabilities of these noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) systems. On the other hand, computation using bare qubits get further disturbed due to the inclusion of additional gates to mitigate the nearest neighbor constraints. In the present work, the 2-dimensional square, heavy-hex and fully hexagonal qubit coupling lattices are considered for mapping quantum circuits. The benefits are assessed in terms of minimal additional gates needed to satisfy the nearest neighbor (NN) constraint and the compilation complexity of mapping circuits on these architectures. From the experiments by mapping benchmark circuits on 16-qubit square and 65-qubit heavy-hex architectures from IBM as well as on a 64-qubit fully hexagonal architecture, it is observed that none of the square or heavy-hex lattice architecture provides uniform compilation advantage compared to the fully hexagonal architecture. It is expected that beyond the NISQ era, strongly connected lattices like hexagonal will become practically feasible. © 2022 Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI). All rights reserved.
