Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation system (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance. © 2023 IEEE.

Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function. © 2023 IEEE.

Traditional LiDAR SLAM approaches prioritize localization over mapping, yet high-precision dense maps are essential for numerous applications involving intelligent agents. Recent advancements have introduced methods leveraging neural fields to enhance mapping capabilities;however, these approaches still face several limitations. Firstly, concerning scene representation, they typically employ neural fields with high-dimensional features and multi-layer perceptron decoders utilizing non-continuous activation functions. This results in low learning efficiency and challenges in capturing high-frequency signals. Secondly, in terms of scene organization, these methods often treat the entire scene as a singular neural field, leading to inefficiencies, inflexibility, and difficulties in rectifying accumulated errors when mapping large-scale environments over extended periods. To tackle the first issue, we propose a lightweight continuous SDF regression approach by encoding the scene in single-valued embeddings and decoding SDF values from a Kolmogorov-Arnold Network. By minimizing discrepancies in measuring range, sampling distance, and decoded SDF values, we facilitate iterative frame-to-model tracking and bundle adjustment neural mapping. To mitigate the second challenge, we propose structuring the whole scene into multiple neural SDF submaps. By establishing node-node, node-submap, and loop closure constraints into a global pose graph, the system can create dense neural maps with global consistency across large-scale scenes. Experimental evaluations in both real-world and simulated settings indicate that our system achieves superior mapping completeness and accuracy, enhanced learning efficiency, reduced memory consumption, and greater flexibility compared to its counterparts. © 2025 IEEE.

Opacity is an important information-flow security property which characterizes the plausible deniability of certain “secret behaviors” in dynamical systems. In this paper, we study the problem of synthesizing controllers enforcing a notion of opacity over discrete-time control systems with continuous state sets. In this paper, we develop an abstraction-based approach to tackle the controller synthesis problem. Specifically, we adopt a notion of approximate opacity which is suitable for continuous-space control systems. We propose a notion of approximate initial-state opacity preserving alternating simulation relation which characterizes the closeness between two systems in terms of opacity preservation. We show that, based on this new notion of system relation, one can synthesize an opacity-enforcing controller for the abstract system which is finite and then refine it back to enforce opacity over the original control system. Finally, we present a method for constructing opacity-preserving finite abstractions for discrete-time control systems under some stability properties. Our results are illustrated on a two-room temperature control problem.

For networked control systems, cyber-security issues have gained much attention in recent years. In this paper, we consider the so-called zero dynamics attacks, which is a form of false data injection attacks, with a special focus on the effects of quantization in the sampled-data control setting. When the attack signals must be quantized, some error will be necessarily introduced, potentially increasing the chance of detection through the output of the system. In this paper, we show however that the attacker may reduce such errors by avoiding to directly quantize the attack signal. We look at two approaches for generating quantized attacks which can keep the error in the output smaller than a specified level by using the knowledge of the system dynamics. The methods are based on a dynamic quantization technique and a modified version of zero dynamics attacks. Numerical examples are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

The paper considers the properties of the difference equation describing the dynamics of the animal population, obtained earlier in the framework of studies of tundra communities. We have considered a special case in which the model is represented by a one-parameter difference equation that defines a one-dimensional unimodal mapping of a segment into itself, similar to the well-known triangular (tent) mapping, supplemented by a region with a constant value. A change in the mapping parameter generates a bifurcation scenario, in which stability zones arise, characterized by orbits of a constant period, interspersed with zones with more complicated, "quasi-chaotic" regimes. Based on the properties of the n-iterated triangular mapping, a necessary and sufficient condition for the localization of cyclic orbits in the considered type of unimodal mappings is formulated, which makes it possible to identify stability regions for any given period n. On the basis of this condition an algorithm for detecting stability zones is proposed. The main subject of the study is the fractal properties of the set, which is the complement of the obtained set of stability regions to the entire domain of mapping definition. The dynamics of the DH (n) value is obtained, the limit of which at n → ∞ is equal to the fractal dimension dH. It is shown that in the studied range of n (2 ≤ n ≤ 22), the DH (n) H T = 0, which means that the complement of the set of stability regions consists of isolated points. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. High Performance Distributed control Law for Large-Scale Linear systems: A Partitioned Distributed Observer Approach

In recent years, the distributed-observer-based distributed control law has shown powerful ability to arbitrarily approximate the centralized control performance. However, the traditional distributed observer requires each local observer to reconstruct the state information of the whole system, which is unrealistic for large-scale scenarios. To fill this gap, this paper develops a greedy-idea-based large-scale system partition algorithm, which can significantly reduce the dimension of local observers. Then, the partitioned distributed observer for large-scale systems is proposed to overcome the problem that the system dynamics are difficult to estimate due to the coupling between partitions. Furthermore, the two-layer Lyapunov analysis method is adopted and the dynamic transformation lemma of compact errors is proved, which solves the problem of analyzing stability of the error dynamic of the partitioned distributed observer. Finally, it is proved that the distributed control law based on the partitioned distributed observer can also arbitrarily approximate the control performance of the centralized control law, and the dimension of the local observer is greatly reduced compared with the traditional method. The simulation results show that when the similarity between the physical network and the communication network is about 80%, the local observer dimension is greatly reduced by 90% and the relative error between the performance of the distributed control law and that of the centralized control law is less than 1%. © 2024, CC BY.

GeoReF: Geometric Alignment Across Shape Variation for Category-level Object Pose Refinement

Object pose refinement is essential for robust object pose estimation. Previous work has made significant progress towards instance-level object pose refinement. Yet, category-level pose refinement is a more challenging problem due to large shape variations within a category and the discrepancies between the target object and the shape prior. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel architecture for category-level object pose refinement. Our approach integrates an HS-layer and learnable affine transformations, which aims to enhance the extraction and alignment of geometric information. Additionally, we introduce a cross-cloud transformation mechanism that efficiently merges diverse data sources. Finally, we push the limits of our model by incorporating the shape prior information for translation and size error prediction. We conducted extensive experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. Through extensive quantitative experiments, we demonstrate significant improvement over the baseline method by a large margin across all metrics. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Event-triggered control has attracted considerable attention for its effectiveness in resource-restricted applications. To make event-triggered control as an end-to-end solution, a key issue is how to effectively learn unknown system dynamics from event-triggered measurements and consequently, develop a learning-based event-triggered controller. Existing works learn system dynamics based on periodic time-triggered measurements, and it is yet to know how to learn a controller with performance guarantee based on event-triggered measurements. To address this issue, we consider the problem of learning an event-triggered state feedback controller for an unknown linear system based on event-triggered state measurements in this work. In particular, we first analyze the event-triggered measurements within a set-membership framework. We prove that the estimation error belongs to a bounded ellipsoid determined by the historical measurements and the event-triggering condition. Subsequently, we demonstrate that all admissible systems compatible with the collected data samples can be explicitly represented in the form of quadratic matrix inequalities using the state estimates. With the acquired set of admissible systems, a co-design problem for the data-driven controller and event-triggering condition is solved using the linear matrix inequality technique, with guaranteed closed-loop stability and L2-gain performance. Finally, numerical examples and comparisons are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered learning and control approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
