In this paper, we investigate the issues of real-time sensor scheduling and state estimator design within large-scale sensor network systems. Specifically, data redundancy sometimes occurs in large-scale sensor arrays due to the excessive proximity of sensing units in the spatial domain, leading to high similarity in their measurement data. Currently, it is difficult to account for such redundancy in sensor scheduling algorithms found in existing literature, where the optimal subset of sensors is generally selected by optimizing objective functions formulated from certain performance criteria. To tackle this problem, we introduce an event-based sensor scheduling strategy, the triggering condition of which is designed founded on the similarity of sensor data, so as to identify the most informative subset of sensors for state estimation. To evaluate the impact of the sensor scheduling protocol on system observability, we propose a new notion of $\mathscr{E}(\varepsilon)$-observability, based on which an observability criterion is derived. In addition, we have designed a set-valued state estimation algorithm, which takes into account the intricate measurement information structure inherent within the sensor selection mechanism. The performance enhancement of the proposed estimator is also investigated. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed estimation algorithm and to verify the performance improvement.

Document-level relation extraction with graph neural networks faces a fundamental graph construction gap between training and inference - the golden graph structure only available during training, which causes that most methods adopt heuristic or syntactic rules to construct a prior graph as a pseudo proxy. In this paper, we propose ConstGCN, a novel graph convolutional network which performs knowledge-based information propagation between entities along with all specific relation spaces without any prior graph construction. Specifically, it updates the entity representation by aggregating information from all other entities along with each relation space, thus modeling the relation-aware spatial information. To control the information flow passing through the indeterminate relation spaces, we propose to constrain the propagation using transmitting scores learned from the Noise Contrastive Estimation between fact triples. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the previous state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches on the DocRE dataset. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Zero-shot object detection aims to localize and recognize objects of unseen classes. Most of existing works face two problems: the low recall of RPN in unseen classes and the confusion of unseen classes with background. In this paper, we present the first method that combines DETR and meta-learning to perform zero-shot object detection, named Meta-ZSDETR, where model training is formalized as an individual episode based meta-learning task. Different from Faster R-CNN based methods that firstly generate class-agnostic proposals, and then classify them with visual-semantic alignment module, Meta-ZSDETR directly predict class-specific boxes with class-specific queries and further filter them with the predicted accuracy from classification head. The model is optimized with meta-contrastive learning, which contains a regression head to generate the coordinates of class-specific boxes, a classification head to predict the accuracy of generated boxes, and a contrastive head that utilizes the proposed contrastive-reconstruction loss to further separate different classes in visual space. We conduct extensive experiments on two benchmark datasets MS COCO and PASCAL VOC. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the existing ZSD methods by a large margin. In the dynamic landscape of modern business, companies face the challenge of rapidly introducing new products to meet consumer demands. This research aims to propel NPI efficiency, focusing on the automotive industry, by enhancing cooperative effectiveness and streamlining processes. The overarch- ing objective is to expedite high-quality product with the focus of introducing a controlled escalation process to facilitate swift corrections and improvements throughout each phase of NPI. To realize these objectives, a comprehensive NPI system has been developed. Integration of an escalation process into this sys- tem enables hierarchical escalation of concerns, blocking points, and new pro- cesses, addressing common project delays. The proposed software stands out for its unique integration of the escalation process, ensuring that all organizational members are promptly informed of any deviations using a dynamic project status feature, adapting as the project progresses. The integrated escalation process not only addresses anomalies promptly but also quantifies the time taken to restore normalcy or implement corrections, thereby fostering a more responsive and effi- cient NPI framework. The paper is organized into sections comprising a literature review on NPI methodologies, the integration of an escalation process into the NPI framework, a case study illustrating the implementation of the escalation process in an existing NPI methodology, and the subsequent results. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the paper, it is proposed to improve the method of execution the arithmetic operation of adding two remainders of numbers introduced in the non-positional number system, based on the use of binary one-bit adders, executed on logic gates with two stable states. Improvement of the method of executing the operation of arithmetic addition is achieved by providing all possible correct values of the outcome of the modular operation of adding. The analysis of the examples of implementation of modular addition considered in the paper demonstrated the practical enforceability of the developed improved method of execution the addition operation of two remainders by an arbitrary non-positional number system modulus.

Online monitoring is a widely used technique in assessing if the performance of the system satisfies some desired requirements during run-time operation. Existing works on online monitoring usually assume that the monitor can acquire system information periodically at each time instant. However, such a periodic mechanism may be unnecessarily energy-consuming as it essentially requires to turn on sensors consistently. In this paper, we proposed a novel self-triggered mechanism for model-based online monitoring of discrete-time dynamical system under specifications described by signal temporal logic (STL) formulae. Specifically, instead of sampling the system state at each time instant, a self-triggered monitor can actively determine when the next system state is sampled in addition to its monitoring decision regarding the satisfaction of the task. We propose an effective algorithm for synthesizing such a self-triggered monitor that can correctly evaluate a given STL formula on-the-fly while maximizing the time interval between two observations. We show that, compared with the standard online monitor with periodic information, the proposed self-triggered monitor can significantly reduce observation burden while ensuring that no information of the STL formula is lost. In this paper, we investigate the control synthesis problem for Signal Temporal Logic (STL) specifications in the presence of uncontrollable agents. Existing works mainly address this problem in a robust control setting by assuming the uncontrollable agents are adversarial and accounting for the worst-case scenario. While this approach ensures safety, it can be overly conservative in scenarios where uncontrollable agents have their own objectives that are not entirely opposed to the system’s goals. Motivated by this limitation, we propose a new framework for STL control synthesis within the Stackelberg game setting. Specifically, we assume that the system controller, acting as the leader, first commits to a plan, after which the uncontrollable agents, acting as followers, take a best response based on the committed plan and their own objectives. Our goal is to synthesize a control sequence for the leader such that, for any rational followers producing a best response, the leader’s STL task is guaranteed to be satisfied. We present an effective solution to this problem by transforming it into a single-stage optimization problem and leveraging counterexample guided synthesis techniques. We demonstrate that the proposed approach is sound and identify conditions under which it is optimal. Simulation results are also provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. © 2025, CC BY.

The emerging virtual coupling technology aims to operate multiple train units in a Virtually Coupled Train Set(VCTS)at a minimal but safe *** guarantee collision avoidance,the safety distance should be calculated using the state-of-the-art space-time separation principle that separates the Emergency Braking(EB)trajectories of two successive units during the whole EB *** this case,the minimal safety distance is usually numerically calculated without an analytic ***,the constrained VCTS control problem is hard to address with space-time separation,which is still a gap in the existing *** solve this problem,we propose a Distributed Economic Model Predictive control(DEMPC)approach with computation efficiency and theoretical ***,to alleviate the computation burden,we transform implicit safety constraints into explicitly linear ones,such that the optimal control problem in DEMPC is a quadratic programming problem that can be solved *** theoretical analysis,sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the recursive feasibility and stability of DEMPC,employing compatibility constraints,tube techniques and terminal ingredient ***,we extend our approach with globally optimal and distributed online EB configuration methods to shorten the minimal distance among ***,experimental results demonstrate the performance and advantages of the proposed approaches.
