Cost/Benefit Analysis of AIoT Image Sensing for Construction Safety Monitoring

Rapid advances in deep learning and computer vision enable traditional cloud-based decision-making through edge computing with the Artificial Intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT) image sensors (AIoT-IS), thus improving the timeliness and security of image recognition. This study is indented to investigate the potential costs and benefits of AIoT-IS applications. This study summarizes AIoT-IS application scenarios for construction safety monitoring and proposes a cost/benefit analysis method for AIoT-IS implementation projects. According to the case study results, AIoT-IS achieves significant benefits, with a Net Present Value Index (NPVI) of 19.17% and a Benefit/Cost Ratio (BCR) of 4.65 as applied to construction site safety monitoring. Interviews with domain experts also provided qualitative feedback, pointing to the directions for future research. The proposed method is applicable for the decision-making of AIoT-IS adoption and the feasibility assessment of other innovative construction technologies. Ultra-low power MoS2 optoelectronic synapse with wavelength sensitivity for color target recognition

Optoelectronic synapses that integrate visual perception and pre-processing hold significant potential for neuromorphic vision systems（NVSs）. However, due to a lack of wavelength sensitivity, existing NVS mainly focuses on gray-scale image processing, making it challenging to recognize color images. Additionally, the high power consumption of optoelectronic synapses, compared to the 10 fJ energy consumption of biological synapses, limits their broader application. To address these challenges, an energy-efficient NVS capable of color target recognition in a noisy environment was developed,utilizing a MoS2optoelectronic synapse with wavelength sensitivity. Benefiting from the distinct photon capture capabilities of 450, 535, and 650 nm light, the optoelectronic synapse exhibits wavelength-dependent synaptic plasticity, including excitatory postsynaptic current（EPSC）, paired-pulse facilitation（PPF）, and long-term plasticity（LTP）. These properties can effectively mimic the visual memory and color discrimination functions of the human vision system. Results demonstrate that the NVS, based on MoS2optoelectronic synapses, can eliminate the color noise at the sensor level, increasing color image recognition accuracy from 50% to 90%. Importantly, the optoelectronic synapse operates at a low voltage spike of0.0005 V, consuming only 0.075 fJ per spike, surpassing the energy efficiency of both existing optoelectronic and biological synapses. This ultra-low power, color-sensitive device eliminates the need for color filters and offers great promise for future deployment in filter-free NVS.

Globalization, industry, and population growth is considered the main reasons for climate change, so when some natural calamity or disaster occurs in any area, it leads to isolating this area from the rest of the region. Wireless ad hoc networks are important in disaster management to reduce losses and costs as they reduce the response, aiding time to save lives. However, they suffer from limited energy, which controls the lifetime of the sensor. Different methods are applied to save energy and increase battery life, such as sleep-awake schedules which assume similar initial energy for all nodes. Domestic partition in a unit disk graph is the production of the maximum possible number of such disjoint dominants. However, it assumes different initial energy levels for all nodes, which is another problem. In this paper, a new broadcast approach based on minimum set data broadcasting is proposed to mini-mize the number of broadcasting messages to increase the battery life during disasters and enhance rescue operations. The proposed minimum rebroadcast algorithm (MSRA) method balances coverage and utilization efficiency by dynamically adjusting node selection based on network conditions. The results show that MSRA significantly reduces power consumption and transmission latency, opening the way to find a new solution for disaster management using wireless ad hoc networks. © 2024 by the authors of this article.

The proposed work objective is to adapt Online social networking (OSN) is a type of interactive computer-mediated technology that allows people to share information through virtual networks. The microblogging feature of Twitter makes cyberspace prominent (usually accessed via the dark web). The work used the datasets and considered the Scrape Twitter Data (Tweets) in Python using the SN-Scrape module and Twitter 4j API in JAVA to extract social data based on hashtags, which is used to select and access tweets for dataset design from a profile on the Twitter platform based on locations, keywords, and hashtags. The experiments contain two datasets. The first dataset has over 1700 tweets with a focus on location as a keypoint (hacking-for-fun data, cyber-violence data, and vulnerability injector data), whereas the second dataset only comprises 370 tweets with a focus on reposting of tweet status as a keypoint. The method used is focused on a new system model for analysing Twitter data and detecting terrorist attacks. The weights of susceptible keywords are found using a ternary search by the Aho-Corasick algorithm (ACA) for conducting signature and pattern matching. The result represents the ACA used to perform signature matching for assigning weights to extracted words of tweet. ML is used to evaluate Twitter data for classifying patterns and determining the behaviour to identify if a person is a terrorist. SVM (Support Vector Machine) proved to be a more accurate classifier for predicting terrorist attacks compared to other classifiers (KNN- K-Nearest Neighbour and NB-Naïve Bayes). The 1st dataset shows the KNN-Acc. -98.38% and SVM Accuracy as 98.85%, whereas the 2nd dataset shows the KNN-Acc. -91.68% and SVM Accuracy as 93.97%. The proposed work concludes that the generated weights are classified (cyber-violence, vulnerability injector, and hacking-for-fun) for further feature classification. This study presents an overview on intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)-enabled sensing and communication for the forthcoming sixth-generation(6G) wireless networks, in which IRSs are strategically deployed to proactively reconfigure wireless environments to improve both sensing and communication(S&C) performance. First, we exploit a single IRS to enable wireless sensing in the base station's(BS's) non-line-of-sight(NLoS) area. In particular, we present three IRS-enabled NLoS target sensing architectures with fully-passive, semi-passive, and active IRSs, respectively. We compare their pros and cons by analyzing the fundamental sensing performance limits for target detection and parameter estimation. Next, we consider a single IRS to facilitate integrated sensing and communication(ISAC), in which the transmit signals at the BS are used for achieving both S&C functionalities, aided by the IRS through reflective beamforming. We present joint transmit signal and receiver processing designs for realizing efficient ISAC, and jointly optimize the transmit beamforming at the BS and reflective beamforming at the IRS to balance the fundamental performance tradeoff between S&C. Furthermore, we discuss multi-IRS networked ISAC, by particularly focusing on multi-IRS-enabled multi-link ISAC, multi-region ISAC, and ISAC signal routing, respectively. Finally, we highlight various promising research topics in this area to motivate future work.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been recently leveraged in massive amount of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, given the stringent limitations of UAVs, investigating their performance in terms of their energy efficiency, tasks accuracy, and security has gained much interest recently. In this paper, we study the deployment of Federated Learning (FL) within the UAV swarms, with the aim of avoiding data exchange between different swarm's members. Specifically, we propose a secure FL framework for UAV swarms, such that the energy efficiency is maximized, while enhancing the learning performance. The suggested approach takes into account the issue of data imbalance in FL in addition to the strict energy and security limits placed on the *** findings show how effective our framework is in terms of security, energy efficiency, and classification accuracy when compared to baseline systems that don't take security or data imbalance into account. © 2024 IEEE.

A Bilateral Assessment of Human Activities Using PSO-Based Feature Optimization and Non-linear Multi-task Least Squares Twin Support Vector Machine

Human activity recognition (HAR) is an essential part of many applications, including smart surroundings, sports analysis, and healthcare. Accurately categorizing intricate actions from sensor data is still difficult, though. This method infers an individual’s actions using a variety of sensor data, including magnetometers, gyroscopes, and accelerometers. This work suggests a unique method for classifying human activities by combining a non-linear multi-task least squares twin support vector machine (NMtLSSVM) with particle swarm optimization (PSO) for feature optimization. Utilizing the advantages of both approaches, the suggested strategy achieves excellent resilience and accuracy in activity identification. The suggested method reduces dimensionality and computing costs while maintaining pertinent information using PSO to extract the most important features from the raw sensor data. On the other hand, NMtLSSVM is used to construct a multi-task learning framework that learns several related tasks at the same time and shares information among them. As a result, generalization and resilience can be enhanced beyond single-task models. Two datasets that are available to the public, WISDM, and UCI-HAR, were used to assess the suggested method. The testing findings show that the suggested approach works noticeably better than the most advanced techniques already in use. Overall activities, the outcome achieves an average classification accuracy of 97.8% (UCI-HAR dataset) and 98.5% (WISDM dataset). Furthermore, the PSO-based feature optimization decreased the feature count by 60% without sacrificing efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Modeling the Percentage of NEET in Indonesia with Spatial Cauchy Regression through the Bayesian Analysis Approach

Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Machine Learning algorithms analyze past market data to forecast future trends in metal stock prices. Precise estimation of metal stock values is essential for industry stakeholders, policy makers, and investors. Correctly predicting market trends can be challenging as there are large number of underlying factors that affect shifts in the price of stocks. Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Random Forest algorithm are two techniques used to predict prices of different metal genres. Non-linear correlations between features and underlying temporal patterns in the data can both be captured using ARIMA and Random Forest. A preliminary process is taken to guarantee the quality of the historical stock data, which includes transaction volume, opening and closing prices, and technical indicators. Random Forest model use both historical data and supplementary features, ARIMA models are trained on time-series data to extract temporal patterns. The models are able to learn from important aspects influencing metal equity prices in addition to the intrinsic time-series characteristics. To improve forecast accuracy, this includes outside variables such as geopolitical events, economic indicators, and market structures. The above technique offers a thorough grip of the market dynamics affecting metal genres prices by combining technical and fundamental analysis. The initiative intends to give investors with the skills and knowledge required to make good decisions in the ever-changing metal stock market environment by combining cutting-edge machine learning algorithms with domain expertise and outside data sources. These models aim to capture the tangled relationships between market variables and historical price data to detect patterns and trends that direct future price fluctuations. © 2024 IEEE.
