YOLOCSP-PEST for Crops Pest Localization and Classification

Preservation of the crops depends on early and accurate detection of pests on crops as they cause several diseases decreasing crop production and quality. Several deep-learning techniques have been applied to overcome the issue of pest detection on crops. We have developed the YOLOCSP-PEST model for Pest localization and classification. With the Cross Stage Partial Network (CSPNET) backbone, the proposed model is a modified version of You Only Look Once Version 7 (YOLOv7) that is intended primarily for pest localization and classification. Our proposed model gives exceptionally good results under conditions that are very challenging for any other comparable models especially conditions where we have issues with the luminance and the orientation of the images. It helps farmers working out on their crops in distant areas to determine any infestation quickly and accurately on their crops which helps in the quality and quantity of the production yield. The model has been trained and tested on 2 datasets namely the IP102 data set and a local crop data set on both of which it has shown exceptional results. It gave us a mean average precision (mAP) of 88.40% along with a precision of 85.55% and a recall of 84.25% on the IP102 dataset meanwhile giving a mAP of 97.18% on the local data set along with a recall of 94.88% and a precision of 97.50%. These findings demonstrate that the proposed model is very effective in detecting real-life scenarios and can help in the production of crops improving the yield quality and quantity at the same time.

The Internet of Things (IoT) stands as a revolutionary leap in digital connectivity, envisioning a future network connecting billions of devices, seamlessly. Amidst the myriad benefits, there arises an intricate web of challenges, prominently centered around potential threats and data security implications. Recent cryptography techniques, such as DNA-based cryptography, 3D chaos-based cryptography, and optical cryptography, face challenges including large encryption times, high energy consumption, and suboptimal rather than optimal performance. Particularly, the burden of long encryption cycles strains the energy resources of typical low-power and compact IoT devices. These challenges render the devices vulnerable to unauthorized breaches, despite large storage capacities. The hallmark of the IoT ecosystem, characterized by its low-power compact devices, is the burgeoning volume of data they generate. This escalating data influx, while necessitating expansive storage, remains vulnerable to unauthorized access and breaches. Historically, encryption algorithms, with their multifaceted architectures, have been the bulwark against such intrusions. However, their inherently-complex nature, entailing multiple encryption cycles, strains the limited energy reserves of typical IoT devices. In response to this intricate dilemma, we present a hybrid lightweight encryption strategy. Our algorithm innovatively leverages both one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) chaotic key generators. Furthermore, it amalgamates a classical encryption philosophy, harmonizing the strengths of Feistel and substitution-permutation networks. The centerpiece of our strategy is achieving effective encryption in merely three rounds, tailored expressly for compressed Three-Dimensional Video (3DV) frames, ensuring their unwavering integrity. Purpose: The development of an automated premature ventricular contraction (PVC) detection system has significant implications for early intervention and treatment decisions. This study aims to develop a novel approach using various supervised machine learning (ML) methods for detecting PVCs in electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings. Methodology: To achieve this, we extracted ten distinct statistical and temporal features from 33 long-term ECG recordings from the benchmark MIT-BIH arrhythmia database (MIT-BIH-AD), capturing significant characteristics from the signals. We then investigated the effectiveness of traditional ML algorithms in identifying PVCs based on these features, namely support vector machine (SVM), decision tree (DT), naïve Bayes (NB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and artificial neural network (ANN). Results: Among these classifiers, the SVM, KNN, ANN, and DT classifiers demonstrated exceptional discriminatory power and classification performance, yielding near-perfect area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC) values of 97.3%, 95.4%, 95%, and 94.1%, respectively. On the other hand, the SVM classifier emerged as the most accurate, achieving an overall accuracy of 97.39%, indicative of making correct predictions. Conclusion: These findings underscore the generalization of the proposed approach, especially since we worked on an extended dataset encompassing different types of heartbeats to discriminate PVCs from other heartbeat types, not only normal ones, and providing closer alignment with real-world scenarios. Subsequently, the robustness and accuracy of these models highlight their suitability for clinical applications and their potential for efficient implementation and deployment in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), as they demand minimal computational resources and time. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering 2025.

Due to the wealth of information accessible on many insurance issues, including travel and auto insurance, individuals are becoming more and more impacted by these kinds of insurance in today's society. But this tendency also makes room for dishonest practices. Insurance fraud is harmful and unlawful, regardless of who commits it - the vendor or the customer. Fraud can come from both the customer and the vendor. The consumer may commit fraud by filing exaggerated claims or using out-of-date policies, while the vendor may market insurance from phoney firms or neglect to submit premiums. This paper presents a comparative analysis of various classification algorithms, including Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), Linear Regression (LR), and Polynomial Regression, for detecting insurance fraud. The performance of these algorithms is evaluated using key metrics such as Precision, Recall, and F1-Score. The analysis reveals that the bestperforming model is the Random Forest, with a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 6.50, outperforming the other techniques. © 2025 IEEE.

Decentralized multi-agent federated and reinforcement learning for smart water management and disaster response

Water resource management and disaster response have become some of the most challenging tasks, especially when disasters pose a threat, as delays could lead to more impacts. The centralized system used for water dynamics and disaster control usually presents itself as a scalability problem since more clients present a problem, the system's latency is high, and the system is always prone to a single-point failure. The previous approach lacks flexibility and does not synchronously guarantee the integration of several subjects in real time, especially during unpredictable disaster conditions. The proposed FL-MAPPO model surpasses current methods by facilitating decentralized, privacy-protecting decision-making minimizing latency and single-point failures. In contrast to LSTM, Bi-LSTM, and DRNN, which are based on centralized data processing, FL-MAPPO provides real-time adaptability and effective resource management. Experimental results validate that it has lower MSE, higher R² scores, and quicker response times, making it better suited for flood prediction and disaster response. To this end, this study advances a solution through a Decentralized Learning-Driven Multi-Agent Autonomous System (DL-MAAS). The new feature is a Decentralized Cooperation environment in which intelligent and self-managing agents learn utilizing Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Federated Learning (FL) algorithms for enhancing smart water management and real-time disaster relief. IoT devices are adopted for sensing and data acquisition, adaptive learning for decision-making, and optimization of energy use among the agents in the system through metaheuristic algorithms. The research methodology for implementing the proposed solution involves the design of a multi-layered architecture, including data acquisition, decentralized learning, and real-time execution. Multi-orthogonal-oppositional enhanced African vultures optimization for combined heat and power economic dispatch under uncertainty

This paper attempts to conceptualize a potent methodology by combining the African vultures optimization algorithm (AVOA) with a multi-orthogonal-oppositional strategy (M2OS), named AVO-M2OS, to address the nonconvexity and multidimensional nature of the combined heat and power economic dispatch (CHPED) problem under both crisp and uncertainty aspects. The AVO-M2OS uses the M2OS to simultaneously explore the search region, improving solutions’ diversity as well as solution quality. Therefore, AVO-M2OS can perform deeper exploration and exploitation features and thus mitigate the trapping at local optima, especially when tackling the more complicated nature of the CHPED problem. A three-stage analysis is conducted to assess the effectiveness of the proposed AVO-M2OS algorithm. During the first stage, the algorithm’s performance is evaluated on benchmark problems such as CEC 2005 and CEC 2019, employing statistical verifications and convergence characteristics. In the second stage, the significance of the results is evaluated using the nonparametric Friedman test to demonstrate that the results did not occur by chance. The results indicate that the AVO-M2OS algorithm outperforms the best existing algorithm (AVOA) by an average rank of the Friedman test exceeding 26% for the CEC 2005 suite while outperforming the gray wolf optimization (GWO) by 60% for the CEC 2019 suite. Moreover, the AVO-M2OS demonstrates exceptional performance compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms, surpassing the best algorithm available by an average rank of the Friedman test that exceeds 41%. Finally, the AVO-M2OS’s applicability is achieved by minimizing the operational costs by finding the optimal power and heat generation scheduling for the CHPED problem. The recorded results realize that the AVO-M2OS algorithm offers accurate performance compared to competing optimizers, where it saves the operational cost of the 48-unit system by 24% on the original AVO variant. Constructing colloquial dataset for Persian sentiment analysis of social microblogs

Microblogging websites have massed rich data sources for sentiment analysis and opinion mining. In this regard, sentiment classification has frequently proven inefficient because microblog posts typically lack syntactically consistent terms and representatives since users on these social networks do not like to write lengthy statements. Also, there are some limitations to low-resource languages. The Persian language has exceptional characteristics and demands unique annotated data and models for the sentiment analysis task, which are distinctive from text features within the English dialect. This paper first constructs a user opinion dataset called ITRC-Opinion in a collaborative environment and insource way. Our dataset contains 60,000 informal and colloquial Persian texts from social microblogs such as Twitter and Instagram. Second, this study proposes a new architecture based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) model for more effective sentiment analysis of colloquial text in social microblog posts. The constructed datasets are used to evaluate the presented architecture. Furthermore, some models, such as LSTM, CNN-RNN, BiLSTM, and BiGRU with different word embeddings, including Fasttext, Glove, and Word2vec, investigated our dataset and evaluated the results. The results demonstrate the benefit of our dataset and the proposed model (72% accuracy), displaying meaningful improvement in sentiment classification performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
