The CdO-(20-x) SrO-B2O3-SiO2-xTiO2 (CdSBSi) glass system, with varying mol% of x (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5), has been analyzed using several spectroscopic methods. These include X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible optical absorption, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), and Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The XRD technique was utilized to determine the structural properties of the samples. UV-visible optical absorption spectra revealed three broad bands attributable to Ti3+ ions in a distorted octahedral crystal field. Analysis of the crystal field parameters indicates that Ti3+ ions are present in an axially elongated octahedral coordination. The UV-absorption edge and its associated direct and indirect allowed transitions, along with the optical energy gaps, were examined, and the Urbach energy was calculated. Theoretical optical basicity (Λth) values were also derived for the glasses. The EPR spectrum, characterized by broad unresolved signals, was attributed to Ti3+ ions. FT-IR spectra were recorded to identify the vibrational chemical bonds responsible for structural and spectral variations. These spectra revealed IR absorption bands corresponding to borate, silicate, and titanium bonds, including BO3, Si-O-Si, and TiO4. The present work addresses the changes occurring in buckling strength and natural frequency of a conical panel with thermal loads using finite element methods. First, the critical temperature of the conical panel at which the buckling occurs is computed, followed with pre-stressed modal analysis. The influence of different geometrical dimensions and boundary constraints on the buckling strength and natural frequencies with its corresponding mode shapes of the panel is investigated. It reveals that the geometrical parameters significantly affect the buckling strength of the panel. Further, natural frequencies drastically drop at a temperature close to buckling temperature. Other important observations are also presented and discussed.

Smart cities are fast proliferating the global space in recent times. In order to achieve the envisioned next-generation cities, the smart city paradigm aspires to develop a completely integrated network-based infrastructure. With the development of innovative smart cities, ICT-based e-governance has made it possible for services to be delivered intelligently and interactively via online platforms. However, the communication between government agencies and other stakeholders in the smart city ecosystem is through open channels, which poses serious security concerns. In order to address this problem, this work proposes a robust remote client password authentication technique for e-governance applications in smart cities. The proposed authentication technique is lightweight, resistant to several attacks, and achieves low computational overhead. © 2023 IEEE.

FPR: fuzzy controlled probabilistic rebroadcast in mobile ad hoc network

Broadcasting in mobile ad hoc networks is performed using various techniques like blind flooding, counter based broadcast, probabilistic broadcast etc. Among these flooding is the most primitive, where every node forwards the broadcast message whenever it gets the message for the first time. However, duplicate copies of the same broadcast message are always eliminated. In spite of simplicity of the mechanism, it results in highly redundant retransmission, contention and collision in the network. This is popularly termed as broadcast storm problem. Probabilistic broadcast method reduces the broadcast probability from 1 to some fraction close to 0.5. Certain probabilistic scheme use fixed probability while some others take into account network size, total number of nodes etc. The proposed article fuzzy controlled probabilistic broadcast or FPR computes rebroadcast probability of a node based on various factors line distance of downlink neighbours of current node from broadcast source, left, right, top, bottom coordinators of nodes already covered, hop count etc. Simulation results reveal that the proposed protocol improves network throughput, saves a lot of rebroadcast while reducing end-to-end delay. © 2019, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

The principles of quantum physics serve as the foundation for the power of quantum computing technologies. Since these events lack a classical counterpart, conventional computers cannot provide comparable outcomes. Future studies are dominated by the rapidly expanding field of quantum technology application. Its popularity has increased as a result of several unique features that are missing in traditional domains. Real-time quantum computing makes it easy to design and apply unique quantum layouts on accessible quantum computing platforms. Quantum machines claim to possess high computing power in the field of cryptography. Expertise in communication security has helped this area grow significantly over time. A novel method of data encryption termed SCV (select, cross, and variation), based on input data halves swapping, is shown here utilizing the reversible quantum logic. Using a variety of quantum gates, we created this technique in this study in IBM Quantum. The developed method is applied to several quantum simulators; the quality is compared concerning frequency, no. of qubits, run time, and quantum volume (QV).

A new empirical formula for α-decay half-life and decay chains of Z=120 isotopes

Experimental α-decay half-life, spin, and parity of 398 nuclei in the range 50≤Z≤118 are utilized to propose a new formula (QF) with only 4 coefficients as well as to modify the Tagepera-Nurmia formula with just 3 coefficients (MTNF) by employing nonlinear regressions. These formulas, based on reduced mass (µ) and angular momentum taken away by the α-particle, are ascertained very effective for both favoured and unfavoured α-decay in addition to their excellent match with all (Z, N) combinations of experimental α-decay half-lives. After comparing with similar other empirical formulas of α-decay half-life, QF and MTNF formulas are purported with accuracy, minimum uncertainty and deviation, dependency on least number of fitted coefficients together with less sensitivity to the uncertainties of Q-values. The QF formula is applied to predict α-decay half-lives for 724 favoured and 635 unfavoured transitions having experimentally known Q-values. Moreover, these available Q-values are also employed to test various theoretical approaches viz. RMF, FRDM, WS4, RCHB, etc. along with machine learning method XGBoost for determining theoretical Q-values, incisively. Thereafter, using Q-values from the most precise theoretical treatment mentioned above along with the proposed formulas, probable α-decay chains for Z=120 isotopes are identified. Underwater images usually endure from colour deformation and low contrast, since light is dispersed and absorbed when it passes through water. In this paper, a new two-level, neighbourhood based contrast adjustment method is proposed for underwater image enhancement, which can be effectively applied to put back and enhance the quality of underwater images. Several factors typically influence to reduce the lighting in water, that may lead to poor visibility of objects in underwater images. In this method, initially, the pixels are segregated into two halves from the image histogram. A Modified version of Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is proposed to identify points in the histogram, based on which, the pixels are stretched in both sides to increase its construct level. The supremacy of the proposed method is visually and quantitatively established in reference to the optimum fitness, mean fitness, Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) and Underwater Colour Image Quality Evaluation (UCIQE), average SSIM and average UCIQE values for all test instances. Finally, Friedman test and two tailed t-test have also been conducted to statistically establish the efficiency of the proposed method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms others. © 2020 IEEE.

This manuscript describes the determination of the orientational order parameter of the ferroelectric liquid crystals having chemical formulas C 36 H 47 NO 5 , C 37 H 49 NO 5 and C 39 H 53 NO 5 . The ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices of these compounds in the nematic phase are measured by using a small angle prism and modified spectrometer. By well-known Vuk’s method the orientational order parameter is estimated. The optical textures of these compounds are apprehended using an optical polarizing microscope. The microscopic textures are analysed using MATLAB *** the orientational order parameter is estimated. The limitations and merits of the image analysis technique is discussed.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a persistent medical condition characterized by insulin resistance and impaired insulin utilization. T2D is primarily observed in men and is strongly linked to obesity, which is considered a significant contributing factor to its onset. The underlying pathogenesis mechanism of T2D remains uncertain concerning potential sex differences. This study aimed to examine the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and signaling pathways between males and females with T2D. For analysis of differentially expressed genes in this study, GSE86473 dataset was obtained from the NCBI's Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Utilizing Enrichr, we performed pathway enrichment analysis and gene ontology. Protein-protein interactions and hub genes are extracted using Cytoscape. Network-Analyst was employed to investigate transcription factors and microRNAs, protein-drug interactions, and gene-disease relationships. We identified 51 DEGs in men and 237 DEGs in women. We determined the leading 20 pathways and 15 GO terms for each gender. In male subjects, the following 15 hub genes were discovered: LDHA, FLT1, IGFBP3, LILRB4, CSF2, IL1A, HLA-C, UBD, C1QB, HLA-DMA, HLA-DPB1, CFB, HLA-DRB1, HLA-A, and CXCL8. The following genes were identified for female subjects: CPA1, CPB1, CEL, PNLIP, CPA2, CELA3A, SYCN, PRSS3P2, CTRB1, AMY2A, CTRC, PNLIPRP1, PRSS1, HLA-DRB1, and HLA-DQB1. We determined six TF genes shared by both males and females: ATF1, IRF1, MAZ, SSRP1, TFDP1, and MXD3. Mir-124-3p, mir-107, mir-16-5p, mir-23b-3p, mir-27a-3p, mir-103a-3p, mir-155-5p, and mir-1-3p were confirmed as microRNAs shared by males and females in our study. We analyzed protein-drug interactions to investigate the potential effects of a particular drug on the activity of target proteins in the body. The results of these analyses provided insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the diseases under study and identified potential drug targets for further investigation.
