Latest experimental and evaluated α-decay half-lives between 82≤Z≤118 have been used to modify two empirical formulas: (i) Horoi scaling law [J. Phys. G 30, 945 (2004)], and Sobiczewski formula [Acta Phys. Pol. B 36, 3095 (2005)] by adding asymmetry dependent terms (I and I2) and refitting of the coefficients. The results of these modified formulas are found with significant improvement while compared with other 21 formulas, and, therefore, are used to predict α-decay half-lives with more precision in the unknown superheavy region. The formula of spontaneous fission (SF) half-life proposed by Bao et al. [J. Phys. G 42, 085101 (2015)] is further modified by using ground-state shell-plus-pairing correction taken from FRDM-2012 and using latest experimental and evaluated spontaneous fission half-lives between 82≤Z≤118. Using these modified formulas, contest between α-decay and SF is probed for the nuclei within the range 112≤Z≤118 and consequently probable half-lives and decay modes are estimated. Potential decay chains of 286-302Og and 287-303119 (168≤N≤184: island of stability) are analyzed which are found in excellent agreement with available experimental data. In addition, four different machine learning models: XGBoost, Random Forest (RF), Decision Trees (DTs), and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) neural network are used to train a predictor for α-decay and SF half-lives prediction. The prediction of decay modes using XGBoost and MLP are found in excellent agreement with available experimental decay modes along with our predictions obtained by above mentioned modified formulas. © 2020, CC0.

Ensuring dependable quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for computation-intensive and delay-sensitive applications in vehicles can be a challenging task that impacts performance. While multi-access edge computing (MEC) based vehicular edge computing network (VECN) and vehicular cloudlets (VC) enable task offloading, but their prompt and optimal accessibility is another challenge. The conventional wireless technologies may not suffice to meet the stringent ultra-low latency and cost constraints of such applications. Nonetheless, the combination of different wireless technologies can enhance network performance and satisfy these requirements. Focusing on the computational efficacy of VECN, this paper proposes a mobility, contact, and computational load-aware (MCLA) task offloading scheme for heterogeneous VECN. The MCLA scheme dynamically considers the mobility, contact, and computational load of vehicles for making task offloading decisions. To optimize the performance, the MCLA scheme integrates the Mode-1 and Mode-2 of the 5G-NR-V2X standard, along with mmWave communications. The MCLA scheme provides an opportunistic switching mechanism between these modes and heterogeneous radio access technologies (RATs) to reduce communication delays and costs. Moreover, the MCLA scheme leverages public vehicles (i.e., public buses), in proximity by using their computational power to manage computational latency and cost. Furthermore, it also considers the shareable computations from passengers’ mobile equipment within the public vehicle to improve the computation capacity of the public vehicles. Extensive evaluations and numerical results show that the proposed MCLA scheme significantly improves the task turnover ratio by 4%–15% with 4.7%–29.8% lower transmission and computation costs. © 2023, CC BY.

Home energy management comes under the umbrella of decentralized demand response techniques, where home occupants schedule their appliances for achieving lowest energy cost at minimum discomfort level. However, smart home energy management becomes challenging due to penetration of intermittent rooftop storage collocated solar power generations. In view with this, the present article illustrates a multi-objective real time residential load management topology considering random variation in rooftop solar power and distribution grid energy price. Initially the problem is developed as a time average stochastic optimization problem which is further simplified to a mixed integer linear programming by utilizing the idea of Lyapunov optimization. Ocular and thermal discomfort minimization are attached with the energy cost minimization objective to lower the discomfort level due to real time load management actions. The proposed technique is validated on a real life residential data and it has been established that the derived strategy can optimally control the domestic loads in real time. The controls for the residential loads are also realized using internet of things (IoT) based controller. © 2020 IEEE.

Internet of Things is an enticing paradigm for the last few decades and becoming popular in the researcher's community. The conversion of every physical object into the smart object is their goal. Besides, the idea of emerging IoT with Social networking concept has also gained significant popularity by which the smart objects can broadly interact with each other. The resulting paradigm Social Internet of Things (SIoT) is the promising platform for contemporary applications and services. Presently, the SIoTs proved to be ingenious, but the IoTs growing exponentially which can evolve a challenging situation while probing precise service or object among billions of objects. Small-world phenomena have exposed some exciting facts and instigated scholars to discover the concealed connections between two people around the globe. This research consolidates the Social IoT technique with the concept of small-world. By incorporating the properties of small-world in Social IoTs, we influential the Smart Social Agent (SSA). SSA guarantees to search suitable friendships (i.e. Friend IoT objects) and the user's requested services without human involvement. SSA could be any object in SIoTs. © 2020 IEEE.

The concept hydroponic cultivation is performed in greenhouses or in various plat factories. This sort of cultivation is generally evaluated with pH and electrical conductivity. It may not provide complete information regarding any imbalance that is encountered in cultivation process. This causes poor yield or wastage of resources Thus, to overcome these limitation IoT measurement system has to be implanted in this cultivation process, where sensors and actuators may measure the corresponding reading when need and given to man power. Therefore, imbalance in attaining nutrients is eliminated by constant monitoring of resources towards plant cultivation. This facilitates farmers to handle the nutrients issues that are encountered in cultivation. The performance measurement of the system developed was computed with feasibility of IoT system for automatic measurements. The outcomes of the systems are computed and validated for further processing. Some specific measures are considered where there is no specific relationship among standardized analysis. Managing the supply chain of the rose wine sector for environmental cooperation and sustainability through Genetic algorithm is an integral part of the management of stocks in the rose wine sector. The new competent approach requires Genetic algorithm to optimize stocks in the rose wine industry for supply chain management for environmental collaboration. We also focus on the complexity of predicting optimal stocks and congestion levels to optimize stocks in the rose wine sector, from supply chain management to environmental cooperation to keep the total cost of managing the supply chain inventory for the rose wine industry. We use our methods in the rose wine industry in supply chain management for an optimization model studied in environmental cooperation. This research aims to presents the free convective flow power law fluid due to vertical cone. The investigation for observing the heat transfer phenomenon is accounted to heat generation and radiative effects. The assumption of variable viscosity is taken into account. A vertical cone induced the flow. The dimensionless variables are followed to attains the simplified form. The numerical computations are performed with help of famous finite element method (FEM). The FEM algorithm is supported with applications of quadratic Lagrange polynomials. The results are confirmed with peak accuracy. The physical aspect of problem is presented in view of shear thickening, shear thinning and viscous material case. A comparative thermal reflection in absence and presence of heat generation have been endorsed. Moreover, the insight of various parameters on Nusselt number is also presented. © 2024 The Author(s)

CBIR (Content-Based Image Retrieval) is an approach in which similar images are retrieved for a particular query image depends on the image content similarity. The similarity measurement among the feature vectors and the feature mining process is the foremost image retrieval task. The performance of CBIR is depends on both ideal features mined from the image and the suitable choice of distance metrics (similarity measures). Various retrieval procedures have been established to improve the CBIR performances. This paper presents a summary of several similarity measures utilized in CBIR and the comparative study of these distance metrics on texture and color features. By HSV and color moments, color features are mined and texture features by Gabor wavelet filter (GWF). Similarity measures such as Manhattan distance (MHD), Cosine Angle distance (CAD), Euclidean distance (ED), Geodesic distance (GD), Minkowski distance (MKD), Jaccard distance (JD), Chebyshev distance (CD), Hamming distance (HD), Mahalanobis distance (MHBD), Earth mover distance (EMD), Kullback-Leibler divergence (KLD) and Bhattacharya distance (BD) were analyzed for feature similarity. The goal of this work is to analyze the performance of various similarity measures for CBIR. A systematic comparison of various similarity measures in the CBIR system for different texture and color feature vectors are done in this paper. The performance of two CBIR systems such as color and texture features (HSV, Moments, and GWF) and color and edge directive descriptor (CEDD) are computed. Using support vector regression with butterfly optimization algorithm (SVR-BOA) classifier, the performance of both the systems have been compared for different similarity features. The comparative results are tested on the WANG database and the performance of all these similarity measures in terms of precision, accuracy, and recall are evaluated for two CBIR systems. © 2020 IEEE.

Cloud storage service is an efficient solution for increasing storage needs of organizations and individuals. In order to ensure security and data privacy, users may encrypt their data before uploading to cloud. In such cases same or different users may up-load same data in encrypted form and it results in the existence of duplicated data. Data deduplication is a technique designed to identify and eliminate redundant data. When users are uploading data in encrypted form, then deduplication is a challenging problem. This project proposes a deduplication system in cloud storage that supports big data deduplication also. The sytem is based on symmetric encryption and re-encryption. The system aims at paragraph-level deduplication of text data files. A token will be generated for each paragraph in a file before uploading to cloud. When a new request for uploading is received, system checks the existence of duplicate files using these tokens. If the file is already exists in the cloud, then system rejects uploading, else system will perform deduplication using re-encryption algorithm. © 2019 IEEE.

For cancer treatment, ferrite-based nanoparticles have initiated a new era of treatment with minimal side effects. Researchers synthesized novel materials that can be applied in the biomedical field specially for cancer detection and treatment. Co1−xMnxFe2O4 (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) nano ferrites have been prepared by wet chemical co-precipitation method and coated by biocompatible material chitosan. Then the structure of the bare nanoferrite materials was confirmed by the XRD analysis that found that the material possesses a face-centered cubic (fcc) structure. The value of the experimental and theoretical lattice constant was determined by analyzing the XRD data. For coated samples, Surface morphology was investigated by FESEM, both bright and dark TEM images, HRTEM and SAED images. The characteristic rings of the SAED pattern also define the fcc structure of the material which shows good agreement with XRD data. The calculated grain size found from the histogram of CoFe2O4 showed good agreement with the crystal size of the corresponding material. The proportions of the elements of bare and coated nanoferrites have been revealed by the EDS study. The successful coating was confirmed by FTIR spectra. Magnetic characterization of coated material was investigated by VSM. It has been seen that the sample Co0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4 showed the highest saturation magnetization and magnetic moment. For cancer treatments, the experimental value of hydrodynamic diameter and polydispersity index (PDI) of all the coated samples was within the permissible limit. Hyperthermia temperatures of the ferrite samples were calculated. From the time dependence temperature graph, using the sharp slope, the Specific Loss Power (SLP) value was also determined. By contrasting all the cytotoxicity data applied to the Hela cell line, cell viability has been observed at 95%. The values of Relaxivity were estimated from MRI images.
