This is a weighted cluster algorithm based on re-clustering approach for OLSR and DSR protocols in MANET. In this protocol, all the nodes of the networks are clustered into a single cluster; we have analyzed the way how to compute the trusting values according to their interaction performances between the nodes. Based on the trusting value, we can decide and check whether the connection between the two nodes is reliable or not. On the basis of no. of reliable connections, we can choose the cluster head in the cluster, and the nodes which hold solid association with cluster head will be the base nodes, base nodes and the cluster head can work together for being the service providing congregation (group) for the cluster. Each member will circulate a secret share mechanism which will be a part of secret key for itself, and come into being the parameter of authentication in the processing of investigation about the up to date requirement in the next cluster, and the obscure and secret share mechanism can also be authenticated by the node itself. One node has been confirmed as a malicious node at a time; cluster head broadcasts the information to all the cluster members and refuse to provide updating service for the particular malicious node. The protocol has absolute forward confidentiality and backward confidentiality. The keys of nodes and cluster are generated after discussion among the service group members, Man-in-the-middle attack can be resisted by this way. At the same time, the cluster can achieve the periodic update, the cluster head will be reelected, service group will be reformed, subsequently, the key of cluster and nodes will be updated as well.

Ti-6Al-4V grade titanium alloy is the most popular alloy and is used for a wide range of applications in aerospace, marine, power generation and offshore industries etc., because of its very good mechanical properties such as high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, highest strength-to-weight ratio, extraordinary corrosion resistance and toughness even at elevated temperatures. Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is extensively used for machining of complex shapes in the field of die and mould making, medical, aerospace and automobile industries for machining of too hard materials. WEDM is essentially a thermal process with a complex metal removal mechanism, involving the formation of a plasma channel between the wire/tool and workpiece, resulting in the material removal, which also leads to surface roughness, work hardness, over cut, white layer, heat effected zone, surface structural changes, metallurgical transformations and cracking. These properties determine the operational behaviour of the material and can be included in one term called surface integrity. In this Investigation multi cutting pass i.e. rough/main cut and trim/finish cut approach was adopted to improve the quality of surface characteristics of WEDM surface of Titanium alloy. The results show that the WEDMed surface topography shows dominant micro voids, thick white layer and heat affected zone and even micro cracks at high pulse on time and pulse current and these are low at low pulse on time and pulse current during trim cuts. Further surface topography and micro structural changes were observed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs.

The Web usage mining techniques are used to scrutinize the web usage patterns for a web site. Web page prediction plays a vital role by predicting next set of web pages that a user may visit based on the knowledge of the previously visited pages. Web page prediction is the focus of attention of many researchers in recent times and different web page prediction frameworks have been proposed. In this paper, a comparative analysis between two different approaches of web page prediction, namely, Latest Substring Association Rule mining (LSA) and Hidden Markov Model (HMM) has been represented. Web page prediction is implemented by using both the approaches and the experimental results are provided. Finally, an improved approach for web page prediction is proposed at the end of the paper. © 2017 IEEE.

With the growth of globalisation, security has been a major concern in digital exchange of medical information. Data hiding, also referred as watermarking, was introduced to authenticate medical data which is sent over the network. Watermarking of electronic patient reports (EPR) for telemedicine demands robust, imperceptible, high payload techniques. Blood vessel extraction is mainly used for diabetic retinopathy (DR) for automatic extraction and classification of severity of diseases. In our current work, blood vessel from fundus images is extracted using K-means segmentation. Afterwards, EPR is hidden using interpolation and trigonometric functions in fundus image. Finally, blood vessel is extracted from the watermarked image to measure the changes in accuracy of the proposed system. The percentage difference ( 36) and high correlation (> 87%) between original and watermarked retinal image, establishes the robustness of the proposed non-blind watermarking method.

The main transport properties of liquid or liquid mixtures are viscosity, diffusion, transference and electrical conductance. Viscosities of various liquid mixtures have been studied and their analyses have also been done by the help of some parameters. For each solution, the excess thermodynamic properties (YE) have been investigated. These excess thermodynamic properties are excess molar volume (VE), viscosity deviation (Δη) and excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow (ΔG*E). These parameters provide us the important information about interaction between molecules. For example, the negative value of VE and positive value of Δη shows the strong interaction between the solute and solvent molecules while positive value of VE and negative value of Δη shows the weak interaction between solute and solvent molecules. Above parameters and their discussion have been made in our earlier paper. In the present research paper, the viscosity data have been correlated with the equations of Grunberg and Nissan, Hind et al., Tamura and Kurata Katti. The excess values have been correlated using Redlich-Kister polynomial equation to obtain their coefficients and standard deviations. It has been found that in all cases, the data obtained fitted with the values correlated by the corresponding models very well. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interactions occurring in the solution.

Photonic sensors have evolved rapidly in last few decades because of the major requirement of sensing applications in optical communication and biomedical diagnostics. Photonic crystals are of tremendous use in designing photonic sensors. Any physical phenomenon, for instance temperature, pressure, strain, and presence of chemicals and bio molecules that can alter periodicity and refractive index of structure of the photonic crystal, can be sensed by measuring optical properties like spectral pattern of reflected and transmitted power. The physics and applications of various photonic crystal sensors are presented in this article.

Screening of anxiety and depression among seafarers using machine learning technology

BACKGROUND Seafarers are vulnerable to suffering from various mental health disorders, most commonly anxiety and depression. Therefore, periodic screening for anxiety and depression is necessary for their health and well-being. Machine learning technology may be useful as a rapid, automated screening procedure to identify at risk seafarers for early referral to psychological counselling and treatment. Objectives To compare the performance of machine learning algorithms for screening of anxiety and depression among seafarers. Methods A total 470 seafarers were interviewed at Haldia Dock Complex, India, after obtaining necessary permissions and ethical clearance. Various socio-demographic, occupational, and health-related information were collected. Then presence of anxiety and depression was assessed by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Five machine learning classifiers i.e., CatBoost, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine, were evaluated using the Python programming language. Result CatBoost appeared to be the most satisfactory measure for this purpose, with an accuracy and precision 82.6% and 84.1%, respectively. Conclusion This study emphasizes the application of machine learning technology in the field of automated screening for mental health illness. Using this technology, a manually derived and time consuming screening procedure for anxiety and depression can be replaced by an automated computer based analysis technique with a degree of accuracy sufficient for screening purposes.

Assessing the role of participants in evolution of topic lifecycles on social networks

Background: Topic lifecycle analysis on social networks aims to analyze and track how topics are born from user-generated content, and how they evolve. Twitter researchers have no agreed-upon definition of topics;topics on Twitter are typically derived in the form of (a) frequently used hashtags, or (b) keywords showing sudden trends of large occurrence in a short span of time (“bursty keywords”), or (c) concepts latent within the tweets that are grouped using variations of semantic clustering techniques. Methods: In the current paper, we jointly model the hashtags present and the semantic concepts embedded in the content, which in turn helps us identify hashtag groups that define a “topic”—a concept space—that are used by a large number of tweets. Results: We observe that different hashtags belonging to a given cluster are more prominent compared to the others, at different times. We further observe that the participation and influence levels of the different users play important roles in determining which hashtag would be more prominent than the others at given times. We thus observe topics to often morph from one to the other (via morphing of dominant hashtags representing the same semantic concept space), rather than becoming extinct outright, which is a novel insight about topic lifecycles. We further present novel observations about the role of users in determining the lifecycle of discussion topics on Twitter. Conclusions: We infer that topic lifecycles are governed by user interests, and not by user influence, which is a key observation made by our work. © 2018, The Author(s).

Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is extensively used for machining of complex shapes in the field of die and mould making, medical, aerospace and automobile industries for machining of too hard materials. Improper selection of WEDM process parameters setting can affect the machining efficiency and surface roughness due to arcing phenomenon that lead by electrical discharge. Present study has been made to optimize the process parameters during machining of titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy by WEDM using response surface methodology (RSM). Five input process parameters of WEDM namely Pulse on time, pulse off time, servo voltage, input power and wire tensionwere chosen as variables to study the process performance in terms of kerf width, material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was carried out to study the effect of process parameters on process performance and mathematical models havebeen developed for response parameters. Properties of the machined surface have been examined by the scanning electron microscope (SEM).The experimental results revealthat the kerf width increases as the pulse on time, input power, server voltage and wire tension increases and the MRR increases as the pulse on time and input powerincreases. It is observed that as the pulse on timeand input power increases, the surface roughness also increases. Further it is observed that as and when the wire tension and servo voltage increases the surface roughness decreases and it improves the quality of machined surface.
