Paragraph Ranking Based on Eigen Analysis

The information contained in the document can be retrieved from its most significant paragraph, rather than by reading the whole document. The proposed work ranks the paragraphs of a text document using eigen analysis and returns the most important paragraph of a document. The importance of each paragraph is determined based on the correlation between the paragraphs. The proposed method explores the use of fuzzy graphs in capturing the inter-paragraph correlation of text documents. This approach models the document as a fuzzy graph where a node refers to a paragraph and an edge indicates the relationship between the paragraphs. The correlation between paragraphs is measured by extracting their semantic similarity. The importance of each node is determined based on this correlation. Subsequently the system ranks the paragraphs according to their importance. The proposed system is evaluated using DUC 2001 data set. The ROUGE scores show that the significant paragraph suggested by the proposed method covers relatively a good amount of relevant information in the document.

Human brains work has always been attractive and challenging to researchers for a decade of time. Brain computer interface (BCI) is now an imperative area for brain research. Various methods are used to record the brain signals and analyse that signals. One of the methods in which recording of electrical activity along the surface of scalp. In this paper, we study the problem of mind awake stage signal and mind sleep stage signal by taking different-different criteria. There are a lot of mind activity detection research in the field but most of those study use EEG devices with several channels. In this study, we focus on analysing activity using an EEG device with single channel way method. In this paper we exclude human paralysis and coma state.

MANET is an infrastructure less network with dynamic topology. Topology changes because MANET supports random mobility of nodes within the network. AODV is a well known MANET routing protocol which perform very well in dynamic environment of network. AODV uses BFS to discover path from source to destination by flooding the network. This leads to the congestion in network. Ordered Walk learning routing protocol also a reactive protocols but instead of BFS it uses DFS. This work shows that OWL can perform comparable or better than AODV by comparison between OWL and AODV based on Energy consumption in different phases of routing. Also compare OWL and AODV in term of End to End delay and delivery ratio of routing.

Mobile Ad-hoc is the most attractive area of research because of its dynamic topology and mobile environment of network. It is a structure less, self adjustable, dynamic network. Routing is the main challenging in MANET because of its nature. AODV is reactive routing protocol which is based on Breadth first search and it uses flooding. DSDV is a proactive routing protocol which maintains a routing table which contains routing information and every node forward the updates or complete updated table to all of its neighbor nodes. In this paper we are compare these well known MANET routing protocol with Ordered walk learning routing protocol. OWL is also a reactive routing protocol but it uses DFS in place of BFS and it does not flood the whole network. OWL can be used efficiently for small scale networks. Simulation Results show that OWL can perform comparable with well known MANET routing protocols (e.g. AODV and DSDV).

The analysis of energy efficiency of non-cooperative (single hop, and multi hop), cooperative, and hybrid transmission in multi relay based wireless sensor networks (WSNs), is done in this paper. This analysis is progressed under the influenced of target-outage probability (OP) and end-to-end throughput constraint. We have used Rayleigh fading distribution in our system model. Furthermore rather than equal transmission power allocation solution [ETPAS], half transmission power allocation solution [HTPAS] has been used to enhance the energy saving performance in cooperative, non-cooperative, and hybrid transmission schemes. This solution proposes that, if the relay node lies between the source and destination, the required transmission power allocated to relay for forwarding the packet, is half of the transmission power allocated to source. In most of the scenarios, analytical results show that cooperative incremental schemes are more energy efficient than others. Finally, for the long and short distance communication, incremental hybrid transmission (IHT) and single hop (SH) are the best schemes, respectively.

Words are the important building blocks of every language. Morphological generator is used to get the inflected form of a word, given its root word and a set of properties such as lexical category and morphological properties. Morphological Generation and analysis are necessary for developing computational grammars as well as machine translation systems. This paper presents a morphological generator for Malayalam nouns using Memory Based Language Processing (MBLP) approach. MBLP is an approach to language processing based on exemplar storage during learning, and analogical reasoning during processing. For training the system, a training corpus is created. It contains the basic examples of root words and their features. The feature set for this Malayalam noun generation system includes number, case, and the last syllable of the root word. Tilburg Memory based Learner (TiMBL) is used for training the system. The system doesn't require a dictionary or rules for its working. It gives a satisfactory result, having an accuracy of 93.68%.

Context: The main challenge in incremental delivery of software is the testing of the increment with minimal number of test cases in such a manner that effect of execution of the subset is equivalent to the execution of whole test suite (regression testing). The execution of test suite subset must guarantee the capability of revealing all faults at the earliest. Objective: This paper aims to perform regression testing with minimal number of test cases that are capable of locating large percentage of faults. Method: The hybrid regression testing algorithm proposed in this paper is based on the clustering by employing three parameters: a) requirement priorities;b) fault detection history;c) module modification history. Results: The proposed technique was applied on live project of "Tool for automatic analysis and comparison of different release planning methods". The total of 14 requirements are considered for evaluation of proposed testing technique (three were added after the first review, leading to the process of reprioritisation). Conclusion: The evaluation of technique on real software revealed that the proposal resulted in better faults localisation with minimal number of test cases although its evaluation on a mature software system is kept as future work. © 2015 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

This paper presents an experimental study investigating the behaviour of geogrid reinforced sand-clay foundation systems with clay subgrades of different strengths. Model tests were carried out on a circular footing of 150 mm diameter (D) resting on 1 × 1 × 1 m foundation bed having clay subgrades of different undrained shear strengths (c_u), ranging from 7 to 60 kPa. Different series of laboratory model tests were performed on homogeneous and layered foundation systems. The layered systems were comprised of dense sand of varying layer thicknesses (H = 0.63–2.19D) overlying the clay subgrades. Pressure-settlement responses obtained indicated that the foundation performances were largely influenced by footing settlement (s/D %), layer thickness (H), and subgrade strengths (c_u). The results indicated that the planar geogrid reinforcement, placed at the sand-clay interface, can substantially improve the performance of the foundation beds depending on layer thickness and subgrade strength. A maximum of about 5.6-fold improvement in bearing capacity was observed in the study, for very soft clay subgrade of 7 kPa. © 2015, Springer International Publishing AG.

The major disturbance occurred in the Northern grid of India on 30 th July of 2012 causes shutdown of power in eight state. The main cause was the mal functioning of distance relay due to power swing, weak inter-regional corridor and multiple outage of line. To avoid this situation a modified algorithm is proposed for numerical relay embedded with digital signal processor (TMS320F2812) to protect grid during power swing and avoid the unforeseen blackout. The new algorithm is simulated for numerical relay and gives the expected result and prevents the leading of blackout in electricity grid. This paper describes the algorithm for mho relay to protect the transmission line from power swing disturbance. In electrical power transmission network detection of power swing is very useful for transmission line protection; using this variable signal the protective system can be improved. In this work the power swing is developed by two ways, first one is due to loss of generation and another is due to three phase fault. Modern protective relays based on digital signal processor are capable to perform fast calculation and improve the protective scheme of transmission line.

Transmission lines can be viewed as link between generating stations and the consumers. They are the major part of the power system hence they play a vital role in its operation. Being exposed to atmosphere they are quite vulnerable to any type of fault. Faults are a transient phenomenon and result in high frequency content in the fault voltage and current signals at related nodes. They add a high frequency spectrum to the original signal at the instant of fault. Analysis of this high frequency spectrum can be done using discrete wavelet transform. It is observed that pattern of the spectrum containing a band of frequency changes with initiation and type of any disturbance. It also depends on the location of fault in the transmission line. While taking the energy factor, the negative going signal is also accounted instead of having a cancellation effect and thus energy factors of various voltage signals serve as effective inputs to the neural network to classify the fault.
