Stemming is the process of removing the affixes from inflections and to return the root form. Malayalam is highly agglutinative in nature and hundreds of inflections are possible for each word. An effective stemmer in Malayalam is not yet implemented. This paper presents a lightweight stemmer for Malayalam, which conflates terms by suffix removal. The proposed stemmer is both computationally inexpensive and domain independent and will serve as a vital part in many areas of Malayalam Language Computing.

Language Identification (LI) is the process of determining the natural language in which the given content is written. It is an important preprocessing step in many tasks of Natural Language Processing (NLP). In a multilingual society like India, automatic language identification has a wider scope, since it would be a vital step in bridging the digital divide between the Indian masses and others. In this paper, we present an N-gram based method of language identification for documents written in Hindi and Sanskrit, which have the same script and the results are shown. The technique can also be applied to other pairs of Indian languages sharing common scripts.

In this paper, the underwater Acoustic Sensor Network for static and mobile nodes are reviewed, where acoustic links can established between two or more nodes for communication or data transmission. Acoustic links were used in place of RF signal for underwater communication, since RF signal attenuate rapidly under the water and optical communication is only suitable for short distance communication. The acoustic transmission also transmit the surrounding Noise along with the data, which can be solved using OFDM spread spectrum technique, which work efficiently when noise is spread over a large portion of available bandwidth. Lots of recent improvements in technologies are increased in development and deployment of Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network (UWASN). Since the deployment efforts of an underwater sensor network prohibitive momentary cost and high power consumption of exiting acoustic hardware. This paper reviewed further for fast wireless transmission technique, where propagation delay can be minimized and data transmission rate can be increased up to 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps, which can be possible using Smart Antenna approach. So here we further proposed the software solution of underwater sensor network which acoustically communicate within mobile nodes under the water and high data transmission rate can be achieved using OFDM and Smart Antenna approach.

This paper reports the design of a three pass stemmer STHREE for Malayalam. The language is rich in morphological variations but poor in linguistic computational resources. The system returns the meaningful root word of the input word in 97% of the cases when tested with 1040 words. This is a significant improvement over the reported accuracy of SILPA system, the only known stemmer for Malayalam, with the same test data sets.

This paper presents a development of Real Coded Improved Genetic Algorithm (RCIGA) and its application to a minimum cost generation unit expansion planning (GUEP) problem. GUEP is a highly constrained non linear system, so it can be solved by any one of the optimization techniques called genetic algorithm. RCIGA is a global optimizer and it provides faster convergence speed and the search space is increased. In this method, the GUEP solution is vectors of real values. RCIGA is used to calculate the combination of units to obtain minimum cost function and meet out the forecasted demand. The RCIGA approach is applied to the test system of five candidate units and fifteen existing units with 7 period of planning.

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) is a collection of mobile nodes forming the network dynamically for exchange of information using the multi-hop wireless communications. Routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks are designed with an assumption that the nodes will cooperate in packet forwarding between distant nodes using multi-hop communication. The cooperation between nodes does not exist always. In order to save scarce resources like battery power, bandwidth etc., the nodes may misbehave. To address the problem of detecting and isolating misbehaving, a reputation-based mechanism is proposed. This mechanism allows the nodes to evaluate the reputation value of other nodes based on direct and indirect observations of their behaviors. The route path is established based on this observed behavior between source and destination. This method helps to identify the misbehaving nodes in the network.

An increasing number of ontology extraction based on domain knowledge are adopted in E-learning. It is critical that domain ontologies cannot sufficiently handle imprecise and vague knowledge, but fuzzy ontology can effectively resolve data with uncertainty. This paper proposes novel fuzzy domain ontology acquisition algorithm for E-Learning application. The knowledge construction mechanism constructs fuzzy concept and relation based on concepts. We have then proposed our design for extracting concepts from heterogeneous text documents.

Resource requirement estimation in large distributed systems is a difficult job because of the heterogeneity and dynamism of the environment involving modern distributed systems. A feedback-based job modeling scheme based on clone detection technique was proposed in [6]. This paper extends the taxonomy of clones proposed by other researchers [1] in order to make resource requirement prediction more effective. It also presents a hybrid clone-detection technique, consisting of metrics-based, PDG-based and AST-based clone detection, to make the clone detection process more reliable and robust.

The notion of Fuzzy sets introduced by Zadeh has been found to be a fruitful model in dealing with uncertainty in data. In order to define the cardinality of fuzzy sets the notion of sigma count was introduced by DeLuca and Termini. Cardinality of a fuzzy set as a fuzzy number, which is a simple but more natural extension of the approach of DeLuca and Termini was suggested by Zadeh. Our objective in this paper is to provide an alternate definition of fuzzy count using the notions of bag theory and establish its properties. Some of these properties were stated without proof by Zadeh and others are new properties for fuzzy counts.

We report on preliminary studies of low (14 at.%) and high (53at.%) concentration Mn doped MgO films deposited by co-sputtering from metallic Mn and Mg targets. The structural, surface morphologies and magnetic properties of the films of different thickness were studied. All the as grown films are found to be amorphous and film surfaces are found to be flawless and homogeneous. We observe at room temperature robust ferromagnetic loops with a saturation magnetization value that is a function of film thickness reaching a maximum of ∼38.5 emu/cm³ in the Mn0.53Mg0.47O film at a thickness of ∼92 nm. In thicker films room-temperature ferromagnetic ordering is suppressed and eventually at a thickness around 120nm the expected diamagnetism of the bulk appears. The origin of ferromagnetism may be attributed to cation defects at the Mg-site. © 2013 Materials Research Society.
