This paper presents a high performance Dynamic Threshold MOSFET (DTMOS) based low voltage Flip Voltage Follower-Operational Transconductance Amplifier (FVF-OTA). The proposed DTMOS based FVF-OTA combines the low voltage and high transconductance properties of DTMOS with high input impedance and wide output current range characteristics of FVF-OTA. Furthermore, high linearity along with high bandwidth is achieved through DTMOS technique. To show enhancement in the transconductance of the proposed circuit, small signal analysis is carried out. Moreover, Multi Input Single Output (MISO) filter is realized using the proposed DTMOS based FVF-OTA. Simulations of proposed OTA and its MISO filter application are done in Eldospice (Mentor Graphics) in TSMC 0.18μm technology. In the proposed circuit, a transconductance of 314.73μS is achieved at an operating voltage of ± 0.5V and power dissipation of 70.19μW. Moreover, MISO filter realized using the proposed OTA attains a bandwidth of 43.91MHz. To validate the robustness of proposed circuit against variations in temperature and aspect ratios of MOSFETs, temperature and Monte Carlo analysis have been done.

Classes in object-oriented software systems are continuously subject to change. Change prediction is a very important activity in software development. Change data consists of the number of lines of codes added, deleted and modified for each common class between any two versions of a software system. It is important to develop tools to calculate change data and object-oriented metrics that will assist software practitioners in identifying change prone classes in early stages of the software development life cycle. In this paper, we develop a tool, Change Report Generator (CRG) to generate the change report from software source codes of various versions of open-source software. We also extend this tool to automate object-oriented metrics calculation from the source codes of software systems. The generated files store the total number of changes class wise and corresponding values of different object-oriented metrics for each common class between the two versions. This paper gives an overview of some of the applications of the collected data like statistical comparison of two versions and prediction of change-prone classes.

Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) is a promising additive manufacturing (AM) technique used for various prototyping requirements where relatively cheap yet robust models are required. To improve FDM process effectiveness, appropriate process parameters selection is required for high productivity and cost effectiveness. Build time (BT) and volume of Model material (MMV) required are important responses to measure cost effectiveness. In this work, response surface methodology (RSM) and fuzzy logic (FL) have been applied to reduce the build time and model material volume for experimentation. The process parameters namely contour width, air gap;raster angle and spatial orientation are considered. Also, build time and model material volume has been taken as responses for this study. Thirty experiments were conducted on Acrylobutadiene Styrene (ABS) P400 for conical primitives using full factorial central composite RSM design. The optimum process parameter conditions were obtained from FL. The results obtained provide useful information of the method to control responses and ensure minimal build time and model material volume for prototyping requirements. The assessment outcome provided a scientific reference to obtain minimal values of build time and model material volume utilized, and it was found out that these correspond to a contour width of 0.654 mm, air gap of 0.0254 mm, raster angle of 0° and orientation (rotation about x-axis keeping z height minimum) of 30°. © Springer India 2016.

The weight initialization implementation is related to the convergence of any learning/training algorithm. In this paper we have analyzed Gradient Descent with Momentum Back propagation algorithm using eight different approximation functions and Nguyen & Widrow weight initialization method. We found that the best performance results are obtained using fifth approximation problem. The best performance output is also shown graphically in this paper.

In this research work, Taguchi’s experimental design is adopted for achieving maximum micro-hardness values for AA6061/SiC surface composites fabricated using friction stir processing. This was achieved by optimizing friction stir processing parameters. Three process parameters namely tool rotational speed, tool traverse speed and tool tilt angle with three levels each were chosen to maximize microhardness values. Nine experiments were performed strictly as per Taguchi L 9 orthogonal array. After single pass friction stir processing, microhardness of all the samples were tested on Vickers digital microhardness tester. The obtained results were analyzed with the help of signal to noise (S/N) ratio. The effect of all three parameters on microhardness values was studied. The analysis of signal to noise (S/N) ratio showed that maximum micro hardness was achieved when tool rotational speed, traverse speed and tilt angle were selected as 1400 rpm, 50 mm/min and 2.5˚ respectively.

Fault Diagnosis and Conditioning monitoring (FDCA) of three phase induction motor is substantial as the induction machines play a pivotal role in industries & hence their safe operations are desired. FDCA of an induction motor (IM) can increase its operational life and efficiency. In this paper, FDCA of induction motors is done on the basis of available dataset. Induction motors external faults are online controlled by LVQ i.e. vector quantization by learning & then the comparison is done with MLP neural network, which states that the fault identification by LVQ is better & less time consuming than MLP. For the diagnosis of external faults & normal condition in induction motor's RMS voltages and RMS currents have been used as input variables for the proposed algorithm. In this paper, LVQ model is used to investigate seven states of IM under different operating conditions with the help of 160 testing samples.

Early detection of Melanoma (skin cancer) and its classes (Malignant, Atypical, Common Nevus) is always beneficial for patients. Till now researchers have designed many computer Aided Detection (CAD) systems which have focused on providing binary results (i.e. either presence or absence of any class of melanoma). As these systems do not provide relative extent of lesions belonging to each class, they usually lack decision support for dermatologists (in case of suspiciousness of a lesion) and complete reliability for routine clinical use. To overcome these problems, a two stage framework is proposed incorporating a new fuzzy membership function based on Lagrange Interpolation Curve Fitting method. This framework returns analogue values for a lesion which represents its relative extent in a particular class (helpful in recreating suspiciousness), hence having a greater degree of acceptability among dermatologists. A two stage CAD framework proposed here uses PH2 dermoscopic image dataset as input. In the first stage pre-processing, segmentation and feature extraction is performed while in the next stage fuzzy membership values for the three classes are calculated using Gaussian, Bell and the proposed membership function. A comparative study is done on the basis of sensitivity and specificity for the three membership functions. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Optimal nonlinear system identification using fractional delay second-order volterra system

The aim of this work is to design a fractional delay second order Volterra filter that takes a discrete time sequence as input and its output is as close as possible to the output of a given nonlinear unknown system which may have higher degree nonlinearities in the least square sense. The basic reason for such a design is that rather than including higher than second degree nonlinearities in the designed system, we use the fractional delay degrees of freedom to approximate the given system. The advantage is in terms of obtaining a better approximation of the given nonlinear system than is possible by using only integer delays (since we are giving more degrees of freedom via the fractional delays) and simultaneously it does not require to incorporate higher degree nonlinearities than two. This work hinges around the fact that if the input signal is a decimated version of another signal by a factor of M, then fractional delays can be regarded as delays by integers less than M. Using the well known formula for calculating the discrete time Fourier transform (DTFT) of a decimated signal, we then arrive at an expression for the DTFT of the output of a fractional delay system in terms of the unknown first and second order Volterra system coefficients and the fractional delays. The final energy function to be minimized is the norm square of the difference between the DTFT of the given output and the DTFT of the output of the fractional delay system. Minimization over the filter coefficients is a linear problem and thus the final problem is to minimize a highly nonlinear function of the fractional delays which is accomplished using search techniques like the gradient-search and nature inspired optimization algorithms. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using two nonlinear benchmark systems tested with five different input signals. The accuracy of the stated models using the globally convergent metaheuristic, cuckoo-search algorithm (CSA) are observed

In this paper, we propose a space character based reversible high capacity text steganography scheme which embeds the secret data into a Microsoft word document. The scheme hides the secret data bits into the white spaces by changing their font type and style. Since the white spaces are invisible characters, the changes made in their style as well as in their font type do not raise suspicion. Thus, the changes made in the cover text are invisible which counter the visual attacks. We don't add extra space or characters to embed the secret data which helps in increasing hiding efficiency. Our scheme is also more robust as well as has higher hiding capacity in comparison to the other existing schemes.

This paper proposes a reversible data hiding scheme which embeds the secret data into LZW codes using even odd embedding strategy. It firstly compresses the cover media using LZW algorithm and then constructs a location map of the LZW codes based on their value. The secret data bit stream is converted into base3 representation and then the output LZW codes are used to embed the secret data in two phases. In the first phase, we embed the secret data in the odd valued pixels and in subsequent phase, the secret data digits are embedded into the even valued pixels. The LZW code value is either modified by ±2 or left unchanged for embedding the secret data. Therefore, this scheme is very simple as it basically increases or decreases the pixel value for embedding the secret data. From the experimental results, it is clearly evident that our scheme is able to hide more secret data than the existing state of the art schemes.
