This paper presents a low frequency digitally programmable voltage mode universal filter for modern communication systems. It employs four digitally programmable second generation current conveyors (DPCCII), two grounded capacitor and five resistors. The proposed circuit offers the features such as realization of all the standard filter functions from same configuration, independent digital control of filter parameters, no component matching constraint and low sensitivity figure. SPICE simulation results are demonstrated to confirm the theoretical analysis.

A Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes that rely on co-operation amongst devices that route packets to each other. From a security design perspective, MANETs have no clear line of defense. This lack of security leads the network accessible to both legitimate network users and malicious attackers. A blackhole attack is a severe attack that can be employed against data routing in MANETs. A blackhole is a malicious node that can falsely reply for any route requests without having an active route to a specified destination and drop all the receiving data packets. The attack may even lead to more devastating damage if two or more blackhole nodes cooperate with each other to launch an attack. This type of attack is known as collaborative blackhole attack. In this paper, a novel scheme Detecting Collaborative Blackhole Attacks (so-called DCBA) for detecting collaborative blackhole attacks in MANETs is introduced. Simulation results are provided, demonstrating the superiority of DCBA compared to Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and the Bait DSR scheme (so-called BDSR) [1] - a recently proposed scheme for detecting and avoiding collaborative blackhole attacks in MANETs - in terms of network throughput rate and minimum packet loss percentage, when collaborative blackhole nodes are present in the network. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Online social networks have been evolving at a rate much greater than expected. One of the prominent features of social networks is the evolution of communities which can be characterized as a group of people who share a common relationship or tie among themselves. As the penetration of social network is increasing in our lives, so is the interest of researchers in this field. Earlier studies on social network analysis mainly focused on static network structures rather than dynamic processes, however with the passage of time, the networks have also evolved and the researchers have started to focus on the aspect of studying dynamic behavior of networks. The paper discusses the main elements in social network analysis from network perspective to community detection and presents experimental results of analysis of our Facebook network.

With increase in availability of GPS enabled devices, a large amount of GPS data is being collected over time. The mining of this data is likely to help in detection of the locations which face frequent traffic congestion. The prior knowledge of such locations will help the users in deciding whether or not to opt for that route. Avoidance of plying on such routes will also help in reducing the congestion in such locations. However, the authors feel that the work done so far in this field does not give very accurate results. The reason behind this is the inability of the work done so far to distinguish between jams and random short-term stoppages like traffic lights. To incorporate such differentiation in this paper, the authors propose an improvised traffic-jam-detection framework - DTC (Detect Traffic Congestion). This framework can be applied to versatile GPS data i.e. data coming from various kinds of devices like mobile phones, tablets or from vehicles etc. In the technique associated with this framework, these GPS data is first clusterized using the Expectation Maximization Algorithm. The clusters hence obtained are filtered out to acquire on-the-road vehicle data clusters. On further processing these clusters, a final binary output of either Traffic jam or Traffic light is obtained. The output is then fed to a J48 Classification Model to train it and hence make the predictions more accurate. The results obtained in the experiments are then cross-checked with the real-time data giving an accuracy of 86%.

As the world shrinks into a global village, software development processes seek cooperation from multiple teams that are spread across the globe and possess their own unique capabilities and skills. Studies indicate that the Collaborative Software Development model has several advantages such as increased productivity and cost efficiency. However, it also poses the challenge of coordination and task assignment between dispersed and heterogeneous teams. In this paper, we propose a Formal Concept Analysis based model for skills oriented mapping between disparate teams and a set of software development tasks within a distributed and collaborative software development environment in a manner that is efficient, economical and fault-tolerant. Concepts extracted in the form of teams exhibiting common skills and software development tasks requiring specific skills are matched by using an extended version of the Stable Marriage Problem. The stable pairs so obtained are subsequently pruned with the objective of either minimizing the cost of allocation or maximizing the continuity of tasks. We also assess the redundancy for each task. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of our approach.

The increasing complexity and emergence of Web 2.0 applications have paved way for threats arising out of the use of social networks by cyber extremists (Radical groups). Radicalization (also called cyber extremism and cyber hate propaganda) is a growing concern to the society and also of great pertinence to governments & law enforcement agencies all across the world. Further, the dynamism of these groups adds another level of complexity in the domain, as with time, one may witness a change in members of the group and hence has motivated many researchers towards this field. This proposal presents an investigative data mining approach for detecting the dynamic behavior of these radical groups in online social networks by textual analysis of the messages posted by the members of these groups along with the application of techniques used in social network analysis. Some of the preliminary results obtained through partial implementation of the approach are also discussed.

There is a great need for evolving electronically-controllable analog signal processing and signal generation circuits suitable for integration in both bipolar and CMOS technology such that their parameters of interest can be adjusted electronically by means of external DC bias currents or voltages. Traditionally, such circuits have been developed through the so-called operational transconductance amplifier-capacitor (OTA-C) or G m -C circuits. In bipolar OTAs, their transconductance is linearly tunable through an external DC bias current whereas in CMOS OTAs/transconductors, electronic tunability usually comes through an external DC bias voltage. With the realization of the translinear current conveyor which is based upon a mixed translinear cell (MTC) and exhibits an input resistance looking into terminal X which is electronically-controllable, there has been a surge of research activities in exploiting this property through the so-called second generation Controlled Current Conveyors (CCCII) in several applications in analog circuit design. The objective of this chapter is to present, in a tutorial review format, significant developments on electronically-controllable analog circuits using CCCIIs as active elements. Too, analog circuit designs using other building blocks of more recent origin, which employ MTC as an input stage and therefore, are closely related to CCCIIs, have also been taken up. In this paper, we consider the problem of increasing the lifetime of a target monitoring sensor network. The network consists of two types of sensor nodes, i.e. normal and advance nodes with adjustable sensing ranges that is deployed to monitor a set of targets. An advance node consists of a times more energy than a normal nodes. A sensor can be in one of the three states namely active, deciding and sleep state. We propose a mechanism to increase the lifetime of a sensor network using a heterogeneous energy model. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method improves the wireless sensor network lifetime significantly over the ALBPS and ADEEPS methods. We compare the results of the proposed method with that of the ALBPS and ADEEPS methods because these methods have better performance among all the existing methods of the monitoring methods.

Data Streams are data instances which arrive at a very rapid rate with varying concepts. Many online ensembles of classifiers were developed which handled the drifting concepts and were proved to be better than a single classifier system. In our work, we will discuss our new approach, Early Dynamic Weighted Majority and will empirically prove it to be better than the existing online ensemble approaches. Empirical results would prove that all these online approaches can be quite competitive, and show good accuracy and speed in handling and identifying drifts in data.

There has been considerable interest in recent technical literature on the use of only unity gain cells (i.e. unity gain voltage followers (VF) and unity gain current followers (CF)) as alternatives to other more complex building blocks in the design of analog circuits. This has been possible due to the advances made in IC technology. It is possible to design VFs and CFs providing wider bandwidth, lower power consumption and simpler architectures as compared to other more complex building blocks. Moreover, using CFs and VFs it becomes possible to design all the four controlled sources in an open loop arrangement without encountering the gain-bandwidth-conflicts. These advantages have stimulated considerable interest in the use of VFs and CFs in a variety of linear as well as non-linear applications over the past two decades. Simultaneously, significant work has also been done on improving the design of VFs and CFs themselves for both bipolar and CMOS technologies. This chapter presents a brief account of some prominent works done on the analog circuit design using VFs and CFs together with the design of VFs and CFs themselves. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.
