Although there have been numerous studies on synthesizing sinusoidal oscillators using current feedback op- amps (CFOAs), most of them have dealt with circuits providing a voltage-mode signal (from a low-output-impedance node). However, the problem of realizing Oscillators with explicit current output (from a high-output-impedance node) using commercially available CFOAs has rarely been explored in the technical literature. This paper addresses itself to this task, applies a systematic state-variable method for synthesizing such oscillators and reports three new circuits of this kind whose workability has been confirmed by experimental results using AD844 type CFOAs.

This paper deals with a DSTATCOM (distribution static compensator) for load balancing, neutral current elimination, power factor correction and voltage regulation in three-phase, four-wire distribution system feeding commercial and domestic consumers. A four leg voltage source inverter (VSI) configuration with a DC bus capacitor is employed as DSTATCOM. The modified instantaneous reactive power theory (IRPT) is used in the control of DSTATCOM. The capability of the DSTATCOM is demonstrated through results obtained using MATLAB based developed model of the system at different types of loads.

This paper focuses on power quality improvement with DSTATCOM on a small, isolated 42.5 kVA alternator feeding a three-phase, three-wire distribution system. Some power quality aspects like power-factor correction, voltage regulation and load balancing of linear load are discussed and implemented using DSTATCOM. DSTATCOM is realized using a three leg IGBT based PWM-VSI bridge having a DC bus capacitor. A hysteresis rule based carrier-less PWM current controller is used to derive gating pulses for the IGBT switches. The models are developed and simulated in MATLAB using Simulink and Power System Blockset (PSB) toolboxes. It is observed that DSTATCOM is effective in compensating reactive power and improving the power quality of the distribution system

In this paper, we propose a new approach for the estimation of wavelet with non-separable kernel from a given image. The paper discusses method to the design of biorthogonal 2D-FIR perfect reconstruction filter banks where the filters are estimated from a given image. The design method is proposed with different sampling lattices. The important contribution of this paper lies in the fact that these filters are estimated from given image itself. Several design examples are presented to show the efficacy of the approach and also the ease of design. Since these wavelets are estimated from given image, thus they are called 2-D matched wavelets.

Until recently, it was assumed that there was no valuable signal above BETA range (13-30 Hz) in EEG signals. But studies have confirmed that there exist some frequencies above 30 Hz termed as Gamma rhythms. In this paper, a new method has been proposed to detect Gamma rhythms in wavelet domain. Further, the detected Gamma rhythms have been analyzed in terms of their energy contents during different activities in different regions of brain. These results have been shown over brain topography plots. It is observed that Gamma rhythms are present in varying concentration over different regions of brain during different activity of brain. Next, a composite analysis has been done to study the intensity of alpha, beta and gamma waves during different activities of the brain. This information may be useful in identifying sub-normal brain activity in different region. Thus, it can help a lot in diagnosing neural disorders and thus can be of great help in the area of telemedicine.
