Neutral atom (NA) quantum systems are emerging as a leading platform for quantum computation, offering superior or competitive qubit count and gate fidelity compared to superconducting circuits and ion traps. However, the unique features of NA devices, such as long-range interactions, long qubit coherence time, and the ability to physically move qubits, present distinct challenges for quantum circuit compilation. In this paper, we introduce DasAtom, a novel divide-and-shuttle atom approach designed to optimise quantum circuit transformation for NA devices by leveraging these capabilities. DasAtom partitions circuits into subcircuits, each associated with a qubit mapping that allows all gates within the subcircuit to be directly executed. The algorithm then shuttles atoms to transition seamlessly from one mapping to the next, enhancing both execution efficiency and overall fidelity. For a 30-qubit Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT), DasAtom achieves a 415.8x improvement in fidelity over the move-based algorithm Enola and a 10.6x improvement over the SWAP-based algorithm Tetris. Notably, this improvement is expected to increase exponentially with the number of qubits, positioning DasAtom as a highly promising solution for scaling quantum computation on NA platforms. © 2024, CC BY.

We investigate an optical wireless communications system based on massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). Through a transmit lens, the optical base station with its huge optical transmitters communicates with the user terminals (UTs). We create a channel model for optical massive MIMO transmissions and examine light refraction caused by lenses, with an emphasis on LED transmitters. We formulate the sum rate maximization problem and convert it into a convex optimization problem to get a closed-form solution. MMSE is used to increase the sum rate and Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions were used to solve the aforementioned problem. We study traditional precoding techniques, maximum ratio transmission (MRT), and regularized zero-forcing precoding (RZF) for an optical massive MIMO system. The proposed technique is ajoint precoder design to enhance the sum rate. The simulation results show that the proposed MMSE precoder design outperforms MRT and RZF precoders in a massive MIMO optical wireless communication system. © 2023 IEEE.

CTR prediction plays an important role in increasing company revenue and user experience, and many efforts start with historical behavior to uncover user interest. There are two main problems with previous works: (1) When most previous works mined interests from users’ historical behaviors, they only focus on implicit or explicit interests. (2) When most previous works mined user interests through the relationship between target users and similar users, the representation of target users was not rich and accurate enough, resulting in less accurate item recommendations. Therefore the Deep User and Item Inter-Matching Network (DUIIN) is proposed in this paper to solve the above problems. First, we design Item-to-Item Network (IIN), using two different sub-networks Evolving Interest Network (EIN) and Feature Interaction Network (FIN) to mine the hidden interests and explicit interests shown by users’ historical behaviors, respectively. Then the User-to-User Network (UUN) is designed to mine user interests through the relationship between target users and similar users after representing the target users more accurately and richly. Photovoltaic/thermal unit (PV/T) is an innovative technology that allows the renewable energy production by cogenerating electricity and heat simultaneously. This technology is seemed promising for the energy supply in many applications, especially for building envelope. In the present work, the performances of two different PV/T solar plants with a Roll-bond and PV/T sheet-and-tube absorbers are compared under the operating conditions of Catane, Italy. The performance assessment of theses PV/T solar plant is ensured by the dynamic modeling of two PV/T in MATLAB software. Moreover, the PV/T energy yields for suppling the energy need of a simple building are evaluated. From results, the comparison of the two PV/T systems proves that the "Roll-bond" configuration provides a higher thermal performance with a maximum fluid outlet temperature of 42.13 °C with respect to the standard one of 40 °C "Sheet-and-tube" configuration). In terms of the PV/T energy yields used for the energy supply of a standard building, it’s observed that PV/T" Roll-bond" system is very promising. It can fully cover the energy needs of the building with a total coverage factor of 76.79%. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

ACDR-CRAFF Net: A Multi-Scale Network Based on Adaptive Channel and Coordinate Relational Attention Network for Remote Sensing Scene Classification

Accurate classification of remote sensing scene images is crucial for diverse applications, from environmental monitoring to urban planning. While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have dramatically improved classification accuracy, challenges remain due to the complex distribution of small objects, varied spatial configurations, and intra-class multimodality in remote sensing images. In this work, we make three key contributions to address these challenges. (1) We propose the adaptive channel and coordinate relational attention network (ACDR-CRAFF), a novel multi-scale feature fusion framework designed to enhance feature representation across scales. (2) We introduce two innovative modules: the adaptive channel dimensionality reduction (ACDR) module, which dynamically adjusts channel representations to retain essential low-dimensional features, and the coordinate relational attention multi-scale feature fusion (CRAFF) module, which effectively captures and transfers spatial information between feature levels. (3) By integrating ACDR and CRAFF, our model achieves a progressive fusion of local to global features, ensuring robust feature expressiveness at multiple scales. Experimental results on four widely used benchmark datasets demonstrate that ACDR-CRAFF consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art methods, achieving significant improvements in classification accuracy and setting a new benchmark for complex remote sensing scene classification tasks. These results underscore the effectiveness of our approach in addressing the limitations of existing methods and advancing the state of the art in remote sensing image analysis. © 2025 The Author(s). Elastic scaling in response to changes on demand is a main benefit of serverless computing. When bursty workloads arrive, a serverless platform launches many new containers and initializes function environments (known as cold starts), which incurs significant startup latency. To reduce cold starts, platforms usually pause a container after it serves a request, and reuse this container for subsequent requests. However, this reuse strategy cannot efficiently reduce cold starts because the schedulers are agnostic of container lifecycle. For example, it may ignore soon available containers or evict soon needed containers. We propose a container lifecycle-aware scheduling strategy for serverless computing, CAS. The key idea is to control distribution of requests and determine creation or eviction of containers according to different lifecycle phases of containers. We implement a prototype of CAS on OpenWhisk. Our evaluation shows that CAS reduces 81% cold starts and therefore brings a 63% reduction at 95th percentile latency compared with native scheduling strategy in OpenWhisk when there is worker contention between workloads, and does not add significant performance overhead. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

The development of population intelligence has shown a great trend of a linear surge in recent years, and a large number of intelligent algorithms inspired by biology have been studied. Among them, differential evolution (DE) algorithms have attracted the attention of many researchers because of their simplicity, high efficiency, powerful search capability, etc. DE has strong exploitability and can approach the global optimum faster, but it cannot avoid the phenomenon of search stagnation and premature convergence. To address the drawbacks of DE, the two-stage bootstrap constrained differential evolution algorithm (TSGCDE) is proposed in this paper. In TSGCDE, instead of the traditional one population, the population is divided into two as a way to increase the diversity of the population. Divided into two stages, each stage searches for optimal solutions in different directions in different populations, and the optimal solutions and the bootstrap solutions generated by the populations in the two stages are bounded by each other’s bootstrap, which makes the DE have a more powerful optimal-seeking ability and easier to jump out of the local optimum. To validate the performance of TSGCDE, we conducted experiments on CEC2013 and CEC2014 benchmarks with some well-known algorithm variants, and the experimental results show that our proposed algorithm is competitive. © 2023, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD. In 2020, the world suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation highlighted the considerable need for systems to detect viruses quickly. Providing an accurate e-health system that detects, monitors, and controls virus spread became necessary. Countries attempt to reduce the virus's spread using basic processes such as quarantine and lockdown. Early virus detection is requested to reduce the threat and decrease the propagation of the pandemic. This paper proposes an attempt to avoid speed-up spreading based on airborne virus detection. The suggested detection based on the SiNW-FET biosensor is not approved as a standardized diagnostic test. To support the airborne detection methodology, a metasurface technology based on Reflector cylindrical antenna with a sensing unit is proposed to detect viruses. The proposal considered the propagation delays and concentration of a virus. Conducted results prove that the receiver's volume is considered a primary key to an accurate detection rather than the virus's concentration. © 2023 IEEE.

Toward High-Accuracy 3D Creation of Aviation Tools via Analysis-by-Synthesis

The field of education is rapidly shifting toward digital platforms; however, aviation education continues to rely heavily on traditional paper-based manuals. This persistence is largely due to the inherent complexity, scale, and high costs associated with aviation equipment, making digital transformation particularly challenging. In this paper, we utilizing the analysis-by-synthesis method is presented for multi-view 3D reconstruction of solid objects, specifically focusing on aviation tools. To facilitate this research, a custom dataset was generated using Unity, enabling controlled experimentation and performance evaluation. Comparative analysis with existing benchmarks demonstrates that, despite the intricate nature of aviation tools compared to simpler objects. The proposed architecture effectively reconstructs detailed and accurate digital replicas with 97% accuracy. This advancement has the potential to significantly enhance aviation training by providing immersive, interactive 3D content, bridging the gap between traditional training materials and cutting-edge digital education tools.

BI-based Reasoning about Quantum Programs with Heap Manipulations

We provide well-founded semantics for a quantum programming language Qwhile-hp with heap manipulations, where allocation statements follow a dirty pattern, meaning that newly allocated qubits can nondeterministically assume arbitrary initial states. To thoroughly characterize heap manipulations in the quantum setting, we develop a quantum BI-style logic that includes interpretations for separating implication (−∗) and separating conjunction (∗). We then adopt this quantum BI-style logic as an assertion language to reason about heap-manipulated quantum programs and present a quantum separation logic which is sound and relatively complete. Finally, we apply our framework to verify the correctness of various practical quantum programs and to prove the correct usage of dirty ancilla qubits. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
