Currently, it is noticed that users tend to choose shorter password as their authentication which can be easily attacked. Biometric technologies such as fingerprint scanning, voice authentication, face recognition, signature, hand geometry and iris recognition is now playing an important role especially in application related to security issue. In this work, we present an approach to generate a unique and more secure cryptographic key from iris template. The iris images are processed to produce iris template or code to be utilized for the encryption and decryption tasks. AES cryptography algorithm are employed to encrypt and decrypt the identity data. Distance metric such as hamming distance and Euclidean distance are used for the template matching identification process. Experimental results show that this system can obtain a higher security with a low false rejection or false acceptance rate.

This paper describes environmental recognition and motion control using weightless neural network classifier and interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller. The weightless neural network classifies geometric feature such as U-shape, corridor and left or right corner using ultrasonic sensors. The neural network utilizes previous sensor data and analyzes the situation of the current environment. The behavior of mobile robot is implemented by means of fuzzy control rules. Based on the performance criteria the quality of controller is evaluated to make navigation decisions. This functionality is demonstrated on a mobile robot using modular platform and containing several microcontrollers implies the implementation of a robust architecture. The proposed architecture implemented using low cost range sensor and low cost microprocessor. The experiment results show that the mobile robot can recognize the current environment and was able to successfully avoid obstacle in real time.

Application of defect predictors in software development helps the managers to allocate their resources such as time and effort more efficiently and cost effectively to test certain sections of the code. In this research, we have used naive Bayes classifier (NBC) to construct our defect prediction framework. Our proposed framework uses the hierarchical structure information about the source code of the software product, to perform defect prediction at a functional method level and source file level. We have applied our model on SoftLAB and Eclipse datasets. We have measured the performance of our proposed model and applied cost benefit analysis. Our results reveal that source file level defect prediction improves the verification effort, while decreasing the defect prediction performance in all datasets.

This paper presents an improved genetic algorithm for solving conic fitting problem. We first use several parallel small-populations genetic algorithms to obtain initial population, which has better average fitness. The range of mutation operator is also set to be gradually reduced with the growing of generation to guarantee the proportion of outstanding individuals within the population. An experiment shows that our improvements on genetic algorithm can remarkably increase the average fitness of population during evolution and enhance the performance of the algorithm as a whole.

The technology of QoS routing has become a great challenge in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs). There exist a lot of literatures on QoS routing in WMNs, but the current algorithms have some deficiencies, such as high complexity, poor scalability and flexibility. To solve the problems above, a multipath routing algorithm based on traffic prediction (MRATP) is proposed in WMNs. MRATP consists of three modules including an algorithm on multipath routing built, a congestion discovery mechanism based on wavelet-neural network and a load balancing algorithm via multipath. Compared with the current algorithms, MRATP has higher success ratio and lower end to end delay. So MRATP can guarantee the end to end QoS of WMNs.

The traditional method based on moving average filter can remove the baseline wander in electrocardiogram signals, but also causes the loss of motive ECG signals, which makes distortions of filtered ECG signals. In this paper, a modified moving average filter is proposed to selectively capture the low-frequency baseline wander noise and remove it from the detected signals in order to recover true ECG. The interval sampling data is taken into consideration when calculate the moving average in order to reduce the loss of useful ECG signals and distortions. The algorithm is developed for computer implementation using MATLAB. To validate the proposed methods, the recording from MIT/BIH database is used. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement of the proposed moving average filter over the traditional one in removing baseline wander without introducing distortion to the ECG signals.
