Facial expression recognition is a typical application of artificial intelligence. It has practical value and commercial prospects in application scenarios such as safe driving, medical assistance, online classrooms, and human-computer interaction. Traditional convolutional neural networks have low accuracy in facial expression recognition. To solve this problem, we propose a residual separable convolutional neural network, which combines depth-wise separable convolution with an improved residual network. When transmitting feature information, it fuses facial expression features through skip connection and utilizes global average pooling to reduce dimension, thus preventing gradient disappearance. We conduct experiments based on the data set FER2013. The results show that it can improve the accuracy of facial expression recognition, reduce model parameters and raise the utilization efficiency of the parameters effectively. © The Authors.

In the age of AI, mobile architectures such as smartphones are still "cold machines"; machines do not feel. If the architecture is able to feel users' feelings and runtime user experience (UX), it will accordingly adapt performance/energy to find the optimal system-operating state that consumes the least energy to satisfy users. In this paper, we will utilize users' facial expressions (FEs) to learn their runtime UX. We know that FEs are the natural and direct way for humans to convey their emotions and feelings. Our study reveals that FEs also reflect UX. Our research for the first time quantifies the link between FEs and UX. Leveraging this link, the architecture will be able to use the front camera to see FEs and feel users' UX. Based on UX, the architecture can appropriately provision computing resources. We propose Vi-energy system to realize the above idea. Our evaluation shows that Vi-energy reduces energy consumption by 52.9% at maximum and secures UX.

Hyperspectral Image (HSI) cross-scene classification is a challenging task in remote sensing, particularly when real-time processing of Target Domain (TD) HSI is required, and data cannot be reused for training. While deep learning methods have shown promising results, the generalization ability of HSI representations remains limited, mainly due to class label imbalance. This paper introduces a dual-stage learning framework based on transfer learning to enhance classification accuracy in the TD. The framework includes a self-supervised learning stage and a supervised fine-tuning stage. The self-supervised stage focuses on learning robust representations by leveraging inherent structures within HSI data, while the fine-tuning stage uses training labels to extract semantic information. A masked diffusion model predicts masked tokens from unmasked ones, capturing both high-level structures and fine details in HSI data. An efficient spatiospectral Transformer, which removes self-attention from the decoder, is proposed to enhance the self-supervised process. This design allows mask tokens to obtain information from visible tokens without interacting with each other, reducing sequence length and computational costs. By decoding each mask token conditionally independently, only a subset of masked tokens is processed. Extensive experiments on two public HSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art techniques. © 2025 IEEE.

Entity alignment (EA) is crucial for integrating knowledge graphs (KGs) constructed from diverse sources. Conventional unsupervised EA approaches attempt to eliminate human intervention but often suffer from accuracy limitations. With the rise of large language models (LLMs), leveraging their capabilities for EA presents a promising direction. However, it introduces new challenges: formulating the LLM-based EA problem and extracting the background knowledge in LLMs to realize EA without human intervention. This paper proposes HLMEA, a novel hybrid language model-based unsupervised EA method. HLMEA formulates the EA task into a filtering and single-choice problem and synergistically integrates small language models (SLMs) and LLMs. Specifically, SLMs filter candidate entities based on textual representations generated from KG triples. Then, LLMs refine this selection to identify the most semantically aligned entities. An iterative self-training mechanism allows SLMs to distill knowledge from LLM outputs, enhancing the EA ability of hybrid language models in subsequent rounds cooperatively. We also conducted extensive experiments on benchmark datasets to evaluate HLMEA's performance. The results demonstrate that HLMEA significantly outperforms unsupervised and even supervised EA baselines, proving its potential for scalable and effective EA across large KGs. In order to promote the evaluation performance of deep learning infrared automatic target recognition (ATR) algorithms in the complex environment of air-to-air missile research, we proposed an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) evaluation system consisting of the target recognition ability, the generalization recognition ability, the anti-interference ability, the background suppression ability, and the cost metrics ability. According to detailed quantitative analysis and experimental results, we establish probability evaluation models and get their probability values. Compared with traditional evaluation systems, our proposed method implementation is showing high reliability. Similar superior performances are also achieved, such as quick, comprehensive, and scientific. Through the above research, the key technology of deep learning performance evaluation in automatic target recognition has been broken through, which provides some basis and guidance for the analysis of infrared imaging-guided weapon systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation system (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance. © 2023 IEEE.

Defining and Detecting the Defects of the Large Language Model-based Autonomous Agents

Artificial intelligence (AI) agents are systems capable of perceiving their environment, autonomously planning and executing tasks. Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have introduced a transformative paradigm for AI agents, enabling them to interact with external resources and tools through prompt techniques. This advancement has significantly extended the capabilities of LLMs, positioning LLM-based AI Agents as an important research area. In such agents, the workflow integrates developer-written code, which manages framework construction and logic control, with LLM-generated natural language that enhances dynamic decision-making and interaction. However, discrepancies between developer-implemented logic and the dynamically generated content of LLMs in terms of behavior and expected outcomes can lead to defects, such as tool invocation failures and task execution errors. These issues introduce specific risks, leading to various defects in LLM-based AI Agents, including service interruptions and incorrect output. Despite the importance of these issues, there is a lack of systematic work that focuses on analyzing LLM-based AI Agents to uncover defects in their code. To address this gap, we present the first study focused on identifying and detecting defects in LLM Agents. We collected and analyzed 6, 854 relevant posts from StackOverflow to define and classify eight types of agent defects. For each defect type, we provided detailed descriptions and illustrated with an example. Then, we designed a static analysis tool, named Agentable, to detect the defined defects. Agentable leverages Code Property Graphs (CPGs) and LLMs to analyze Agent workflows by efficiently identifying specific code patterns and analyzing natural language descriptions. To evaluate Agentable, we constructed two datasets: AgentSet, which consists of 84 real-world Agent projects, and AgentTest, which contains 78 Agent projects specifically designed to include various types of defect

Multiview clustering has wide real-world applications because it can process data from multiple sources. However, these data often contain missing instances and noises, which are ignored by most multiview clustering methods. Missing instances may make these methods difficult to use directly, and noises will lead to unreliable clustering results. In this article, we propose a novel autoweighted noisy and incomplete multiview clustering (ANIMC) approach via a soft autoweighted strategy and a doubly soft regular regression model. First, by designing adaptive semiregularized nonnegative matrix factorization, the soft autoweighted strategy assigns a proper weight to each view and adds a soft boundary to balance the influence of noises and incompleteness. Second, by proposing θ-norm, the doubly soft regularized regression model adjusts the sparsity of our model by choosing different θ. Compared with previous methods, ANIMC has three unique advantages: 1) it is a soft algorithm to adjust our approach in different scenarios, thereby improving its generalization ability;2) it automatically learns a proper weight for each view, thereby reducing the influence of noises;3) it performs doubly soft regularized regression that aligns the same instances in different views, thereby decreasing the impact of missing instances. Extensive experimental results show its superior advantages over other state-of-the-art works. © 2020 IEEE.

Sea surface temperature (SST) is closely related to global climatechange, ocean ecosystem, and ocean disaster. Accurate prediction of SST isan urgent and challenging task. With a vast amount of ocean monitoring dataare continually collected, data-driven methods for SST time-series predictionshow promising results. However, they are limited by neglecting complexinteractions between SST and other ocean environmental factors, such as airtemperature and wind speed. This paper uses multi-factor time series SSTdata to propose a sequence-to-sequence network with two-module attention(TMA-Seq2seq) for long-term time series SST prediction. Specifically, TMASeq2seq is an LSTM-based encoder-decoder architecture facilitated by factorand temporal-attention modules and the input of multi-factor time series. Ittakes six-factor time series as the input, namely air temperature, air pressure,wind speed, wind direction, SST, and SST anomaly (SSTA). A factor attentionmodule is first designed to adaptively learn the effect of different factors onSST, followed by an encoder to extract factor-attention weighted features asfeature representations. And then, a temporal attention module is designedto adaptively select the hidden states of the encoder across all time steps tolearn more robust temporal relationships. The decoder follows the temporalattention module to decode the feature vector concatenated from the weightedfeatures and original input feature. Finally, we use a fully-connect layer tomap the feature into prediction results. With the two attention modules, ourmodel effectively improves the prediction accuracy of SST since it can notonly extract relevant factor features but also boost the long-term *** experiments on the datasets of China Coastal Sites (CCS) demonstrate that our proposed model outperforms other methods, reaching 98.29%in prediction accuracy (PACC) and 0.34 in root mean square error (RMSE).Moreover, SST prediction experiments in China’s East, South,

Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive Database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.
