An integrated fuzzy adjusted cosine similarity and TOPSIS based recommendation system for information system requirements selection

Selecting the requirements for an information system based on their ranking values is one of the critical steps in software development. Various methods for computing the ranking order of the requirements have been developed using multi-criteria decision-making methods. This study shows selecting the requirements for different software releases using a recommendation system is an unresearched problem. We present a recommendation system (PRecSys) for computing the ranking order of the requirements in an information system using fuzzy-based adjusted cosine similarity measure and collaborative filtering to recommend the requirements to stakeholders with similar interests. The ranking order of the information systems requirements in PRecSys is computed using the fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The applicability of PRecSys is discussed by considering the requirements for a library information system. The PRecSys is compared with PHandler, an expert system for choosing the requirements, based on the following criteria: agreement measure, the number of judgments by decision-makers, and time complexity. © 2024 The Authors

Digital Compute-in-Memory (CIM) macros revolutionize the Von Neumann architecture by significantly reducing data movements between CPU and memory. However, when dealing with lightweight CNNs with various convolution types, existing GEMM (general matrix multiplication)-oriented solutions suffer from underutilization and large activation traffic, leading to unsatisfied energy and area efficiencies. In this context, we propose CAMO, in which the key contributions are: (1) A novel convolution mapping mechanism suitable for CIM macros, that maximizes data reuse and reduces activation traffic. (2) A convolution-capable CIM macro, that also supports small-scale GEMM. (3) A CIM-based architecture that supports multiple computing modes. The experimental results show that CAMO achieves up to 31.49× performance speedup and 77.5% activation traffic reduction compared to the baseline architecture.

Flynig sensor network (FSN) for internet of things (IoT) consist of flying nodes called sensors and ground segments. The flying nodes may be operated manually or it may be automated devices. The flying segment of IoT has different nature compared to ordinary mobile sensor network. The flying speed and diverse directions of nodes make it harder to route the sensor information in a desired way. The data may be collected on the basis of contract opportunities. Here the timely delivery may not be guaranteed. To ensure the desired operation of the FSN, the delivery of data to the base station either deployed in the air or on the ground segment must be ensured in an efficient manner. In this paper, the mating intelligence of bees is used to ensure the delivery of data. The energy consumption is reduced by reducing the amount of control messages and transmitting redundant information. The network lifetime is increased. Simulation is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms existing schemes under consideration. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

MoMa: A Modular Deep Learning Framework for Material Property Prediction

Deep learning methods for material property prediction have been widely explored to advance materials discovery. However, the prevailing pre-train then fine-tune paradigm often fails to address the inherent diversity and disparity of material tasks. To overcome these challenges, we introduce MoMa, a Modular framework for Materials that first trains specialized modules across a wide range of tasks and then adaptively composes synergistic modules tailored to each downstream scenario. Evaluation across 17 datasets demonstrates the superiority of MoMa, with a substantial 14% average improvement over the strongest baseline. Few-shot and continual learning experiments further highlight MoMa’s potential for real-world applications. Pioneering a new paradigm of modular material learning, MoMa will be open-sourced to foster broader community collaboration. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

This paper presents a practical approach to cache eviction algorithm design, called Mobius, that optimizes the concurrent throughput of caches and reduces cache operation latency by utilizing lock-free data structures, while maintaining high cache hit ratios. Mobius includes two key designs. First, Mobius employs two lock-free FIFO queues to manage cache items, ensuring that all cache operations are executed efficiently in concurrency. Second, Mobius integrates a consecutive detection mechanism that merges multiple modifications during eviction into a single operation, thereby reducing data races. The implementation of Mobius in CacheLib and RocksDB highlights its high concurrency in both synthetic and real-world workloads.

Human Robot Interaction (HRI) is one of the biggest research field in the Robotics research world. Understanding the semantic meaning of the user instruction is very important to establish the communication between user and robot. When a user instructs to all heterogeneous service Robots with high level instructions who are working at different locations in smart house, all robots need to operate by understanding the semantic of the instruction and complete the task uniformly without considering underline software and hardware implementations. Ontology is used to extract the semantic meaning of the instructions. Each robot is assigned a specific task for specific time period for each day. User can issue commands to all robots at different time slots but the same command can be issued with different sentence by different users. We have used ontology to represents the semantic of the sentence with different commands. We have used three robots (TurtleBot, TiaGo and Husky) for our experiment in Gazebo simulator. Robot Operating system (ROS) is the middleware which is hiding more complex implementation of different functions for different robots and provide the interoperability for heterogeneous robot operations. The ROS nodes and topics can be different for different robots, therefore our implementation can solve this issue by autonomous robot registration algorithm which is working with Robot ontology. © 2021 IEEE.

Today, thanks to the major breakthrough of sequences to sequences model in the field of natural language, most of the dialogue generation tasks are focused on generating more effective responses. However, the responses proposed by the chat-bot are only a passive answer or assentation, which does not arouse the desire of people to continue communicating. How to transform the chat robot from a passive reply to an active questioner has become an urgent problem. In this paper, a question generalization method with four types of question proposing schemes are designed, implemented, and tested to automate question generation process. The proposed system is controlled by a probability-triggered multiple conversion mechanism to actively propose different types of questions. We embed our methods in the mainstream dialogue generation model and demonstrate its effectiveness in dialogue response generalization on a standard dataset. In addition, it achieves good performance in subjective conversational assessment. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Diabetes Mellitus has no permanent cure to date and is one of the leading causes of death globally. The alarming increase in diabetes calls for the need to take precautionary measures to avoid/predict the occurrence of diabetes. This paper proposes HealthEdge, a machine learning-based smart healthcare framework for type 2 diabetes prediction in an integrated IoT-edge-cloud computing system. Numerical experiments and comparative analysis were carried out between the two most used machine learning algorithms in the literature, Random Forest (RF) and Logistic Regression (LR), using two real-life diabetes datasets. The results show that RF predicts diabetes with 6% more accuracy on average compared to LR. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.
