This paper presents the application program of fingerprint detection using wavelet transform for authentication. Fingerprints are obtained from the site of crime, old documents and excavated things. This paper proposes a fingerprint recognition technique based on wavelet-based texture pattern recognition method. By collecting incomplete fingerprints of 2 people with 6 images each. The original seven of uncompleted fingerprint images were undetected and only one was detected. After enhancing image quality using wavelet transform method, it was found that those of seven images were completed. The comparison method was a matching technique. This work focuses on the ability of the program and knowledge of image processing by studying algorithms of image processing. In design algorithm process, different technique enhancements were employed as well as the study of different of filters and algorithms based on existing research results from literature. © 2016 IEEE.

The Winter Colloquium on the Physics of Quantum Electronics (PQE) has been a seminal force in quantum optics and related areas since 1971. It is rather mindboggling to recognize how the concepts presented at these conferences have transformed scientific understanding and human society. In January, 2017, the participants of PQE were asked to consider the equally important prospects for the future, and to formulate a set of questions representing some of the greatest aspirations in this broad field. The result is this multi-authored paper, in which many of the world's leading experts address the following fundamental questions: (1) What is the future of gravitational wave astronomy? (2) Are there new quantum phases of matter away from equilibrium that can be found and exploited-such as the time crystal? (3) Quantum theory in uncharted territory: What can we learn? (4) What are the ultimate limits for laser photon energies? (5) What are the ultimate limits to temporal, spatial, and optical resolution? (6) What novel roles will atoms play in technology? (7) What applications lie ahead for nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond? (8) What is the future of quantum coherence, squeezing, and entanglement for enhanced superresolution and sensing? (9) How can we solve (some of) humanity's biggest problems through new quantum technologies? (10) What new understanding of materials and biological molecules will result from their dynamical characterization with free electron lasers? (11) What new technologies and fundamental discoveries might quantum optics achieve by the end of this century? (12) What novel topological structures can be created and employed in quantum optics? In recent years, with the spread of applications such as electronic musical scores has been developed. However, existing electronic musical score applications were developed considering individual use (principally by pianists), and when using electronic musical score systems for a wind orchestra, for example, the load placed on the musical performers are effectively the same as when using paper scores. Therefore, in this study we were taking advantage of the characteristics of the tablet terminal, was carried out a proposal and trial production of the electronic musical score system PEANUTS for wind orchestra. Music of the data to be used in the PEANUTS is presupposed to reuse the score of paper that is currently being used. In PEANUTS, was focused on page turn as a load applied to the performer when playing musical piece in wind orchestra, we have proposed system of designating the person in charge of page turn to reduce the load based on algorithm of designating the person in charge of page turn for single music. However, the concert of wind orchestra usually play multiple music. In this paper, we were carried out the evaluation experiment considering the concert program. We were consider to resolve bias of the load value on the part of the performers by considering the concert program.

Robots have been introduced for autism therapy. However, most robotics studies focused on providing means of practice with dyadic interaction activities. To live in the society, autistic children need social interaction skills. In this study, we developed a mobile robot with non-threatening facial expression and investigated the potential of using this robot in triadic interaction activity for autism therapy to promote social interaction in children with autism. From the experiment that subjects play a picture matching game, it can be indicated that the robot can attract children with autism. Subjects can learn and understand the rule with their parents' participation. They could learn the name of the object in the picture that they do not know before as well. Some parents found that the robot could aid them in training their children. Autism specialists discovered some capabilities that they have never observed from the subjects in their therapeutic sessions. Therefore, this robot could be useful for autism specialists in finding aptitudes of children with autism in order to provide suitable intervention for effective therapy. This robot could be helpful for parents/caregivers in conducting therapeutic activities at home (continuing after therapeutic session with specialists) for even more effective therapy.

This paper addresses the problem of damage detection technique of structural health monitoring (SHM). Kernel principal components analysis (KPCA)-based generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) technique is developed to enhance the damage detection of SHM processes. The data are collected from the complex three degree of freedom spring-mass-dashpot system in order to calculate the KPCA model. The developed KPCA-based GLR is the method that attempts to combine the advantages of GLR statistic in the cases where process models are not available and a multivariate statistical process control; KPCA. The simulations show the improved performance of the KPCA-based GLR damage detection method.

Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods.

Introductory engineering courses can benefit from the flipped classroom model as these courses develop hands-on skills such as engineering design and critical thinking skills. Providing students with instruction outside the classroom with e-learning tools frees up class time to engage in activities that promote deeper learning, e.g. classroom discussions, problem-solving sessions, design activities, etc. In this paper, we discuss the implementation of a flipped classroom version of an introductory engineering design course. We evaluate student performance and perception of a flipped classroom version using data collected during the course. We also discuss elements of the course that were found to be the most beneficial for the students.

Recently, a modified data hiding scheme based on pixel value differencing and improving exploiting modification directions is proposed by Shen and Huang. There are two major contributions in this scheme. One is to enhance the embedding rate and good embedding capacity and the other is an optimization problem used to solve the overflow/ underflow problem. In fact, they propose the similar brute force method to solve overflow/underflow problem in their proposed scheme. To overcome the overflow/underflow problem exactly, we will propose the close form to solve this problem in this paper. Then, an improvement data hiding scheme based on FFEMD (Formula Fully Exploiting Modification Directions) and pixel value differencing method is proposed. According to our analysis, it is not only to keep the advantages of Shen-Huang scheme but also to use the close form to solve the overflow/ underflow problem.

We have carried out experimental and numerical analyses for reconstruction of permittivity distribution using a pair of long distance small size electrodes and additional arc electrodes. A reconstruction method for permittivity distribution that uses a genetic algorithm and numerical analysis (finite element method) based on measured capacitance has been proposed and investigated. However, the conventional method had a problem in accuracy. In this paper, the reconstruction method has been improved by using a Parameter-free Genetic Algorithm(PfGA) based on measured capacitance and electric potential. In addition, we have evaluated the fitness function with PfGA. © 2016 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

In this paper, we present a study on how to achieve Byzantine fault tolerance for collaborative editing systems with commutative operations. Recent research suggests that Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) can be used to construct collaborative editing systems where concurrent update operations are commutative. This new approach is shown to avoid the complex issue of conflict resolution for concurrent updates to a shared document. The shared document is often modeled as a linear text buffer where each basic element is assigned a globally unique and totally ordered identifier. The linear text buffer constructed this way would constitute as a CRDT, which would make concurrent update operations issued by different users commutative. State convergence at all users can be achieved automatically as long as the users could receive the same set of operations irrespective of their relative ordering. However, it is not straightforward to guarantee state convergence in the presence of malicious users and external adversaries. In this paper, we carefully analyze the threats towards this type of systems, and propose a lightweight solution to achieve Byzantine fault tolerance with low runtime overhead. We define a set of correctness properties for such systems and prove that the proposed Byzantine fault tolerance mechanisms guarantee these properties. © 2016 IEEE.
