In this work, the mobility degradation after gate AC stress in the off region are examined. It is discovered that the mobility increases after AC gate stress condition 0 V to +15 V, which the previously reported model (by Uraoka, Y) may not explain. Considering the spatial distribution of the voltage and the flow of the carriers in the channel, we proposed the "slicing model" , that is, replace the original TFT by ten TFTs with shorter channel length. Then, by applying the circuit simulator, the voltage distribution in the channel under different stages of gate applied voltage may be obtained. An index considering the current flow and the channel voltage at the edge nodes are proposed to describe the degradation in mobility. The fair linearity between the proposed index and the degradation in mobility reveals the validity of the proposed model.

It is important for students getting suitable feedback information when either they are doing or completing a learning activity. This research tries to know what kind of feedback message is really useful to students. For this purpose, this paper develops a workable e-learning environment with feedback mechanism to gather the learning effects of students with different kinds of feedbacks. The experiment involves five fifth-grade classes and divides five classes into three different groups. The students in the control group have no feedback and students in the other two groups have different kinds of feedback messages. The analysis of experiment data contains two parts: the first one evaluates the feedback efficiencies for all groups;and, then all students will be separated into three clusters based on their academic achievement in order to do further analysis.

The department of technology Systems (TSYS) at East Carolina University has implemented a new faculty mentoring process to enable junior faculty members to learn from senior faculty members as they prepare for a career in academia. Five tenured professors and associate professors in the TSYS department have recently established a new process to mentor faculty members within the department who have begun not yet completed their initial tenure process at a major university. This process includes a series of workshops regarding academic performance expectations during the early stages of an academic career. Our commitment to new faculty takes on several related, yet distinct features. Examples of these initiatives include: 1) reduced workloads for new faculty for the first two years to enable them to generate individual and collaborative research activities, funded grants, and publications, 2) periodic university-wide training to learn policies and procedures that affect day-to-day activities on a college campus, 3) periodic workshops hosted by senior faculty mentors, and 4) one-on-one discussions between senior faculty members and junior faculty members to encourage candid dialogue between professional colleagues. Another feature of the mentorship philosophy is a proposal to the dean of the college to offer newly hired faculty a contractual start date of July 1steach year instead of starting their contract one week prior to the start of fall classes, normally in late August. This additional period of time will be used to train new faculty in essential policies and procedures, to complete a variety of administrative tasks on campus, to get a head start on preparing for classes in the fall, and cleaning up those supplemental tasks that accompany every move to a new location. With myriad information being generated from high-throughput experiments such as microarrays and sequencing technologies, an ever-increasing amount of data is being recorded and analyzed with the help of hierarchical ontologies, such as the Gene Ontology (GO). We have developed a novel framework-based on the well established foundations of information theory - that allows for the evaluation of new types of hypotheses. The framework, encapsulated in Open Biomedical Ontology-Based Exploration and Search (OBOES), has already been applied in the investigation of different kinds of questions. The resulting framework enables the new field of information theoretic ontology-based analysis. We have applied this framework to create methods to re-engineer ontologies, explore fundamental questions on the evolution of biological complexity, determine optimal ontology terms for bioinformatics analysis, and quantify the usefulness of biofluids as proxies for tissues/diseases. There is a clinical need for HIV protease inhibitors that can evade resistance mutations. One possible approach to designing such inhibitors relies upon the crystallographic observation that the substrates of HIV protease occupy a rather constant region within the binding site. In particular, it has been hypothesized that inhibitors which lie within this region will tend to resist clinically relevant mutations. The present study offers the first prospective evaluation of this hypothesis, via computational design of inhibitors predicted to conform to the substrate envelope, followed by synthesis and evaluation against wild-type and mutant proteases, as well as structural studies of complexes of the designed inhibitors with HIV protease. The results support the utility of the substrate envelope hypothesis as a guide to the design of robust protease inhibitors.

Mobile Learning makes students get the advantages of both traditional learning and e-learning. How to give students learning sequence suggestions in the mobile learning environment is a big issue and is also the goal of this paper. This research uses knowledge map to store the characteristics of each learning object and designs a situated map to represent spatial knowledge in the mobile learning environment. By using these two knowledge structures, knowledge map and situated map, the system created by this research can generate various navigation sentences and ask students to observe the characteristics of learning objects. This research also takes information theory into consideration in order to decide which navigation sentence should deliver to the student first. The system calculates the entropy for each generated sentence and finds the most appropriate one to deliver to the student. At the end of this paper, an experiment system is implemented for the 5th year biology course, Plant Observation.
