This research was to study the effect of the environment condition during image captured including temperature and relative humidity in the packaging house of the mango exporting factory and in the orchard on the emissivity of mango fruit. The result showed that in the controlled environment of the packaging house in factory, the emissivity was increased (the mango emitted more energy) when the surface temperature was lower and the emissivity of mango is 0.71-0.84 and in the uncontrolled environment of open-air packaging yard in the mango orchard, the different transpiration rates of mango effected mainly by ambient temperature and relative humidity make the morning condition emissivity of 0.44-0.66 and the afternoon condition of 0.72-0.98. There was the effect of the different measured positions on the fruits where the physiology was different and the fluctuated environment in the latter condition made the wide range of emissivity of mangoes. This indicated the shortcoming of thermal imaging of horticultural product if the correct emissivity varied and difficult to set in the thermal camera setting, hence the inaccurate thermogram to be obtained.

The Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, is an acute fever illness that infects people when a female Anopheles mosquito bites them. It is predicted that malaria would claim 619,000 lives in 2021, with 96% of those deaths occurring in the African continent. We can achieve this by using a microscope to examine thick and thin blood smears. The proficiency of a microscope examiner is crucial for doing microscopic examinations. Consider how time-consuming, ineffective, and costly it would be to examine thousands of malaria cases. Consequently, Creating an automated method for detecting malaria parasites is the aim of this study. We employ a MobileNetV2 pretrained model with CNN technology. Because it has been trained on dozens or even millions of data points, this pretrained model is incredibly light but dependable. There are two main benefits of automatic malaria parasite detection: firstly, it can offer a more accurate diagnosis, particularly in locations with limited resources; secondly, it lowers diagnostic expenses. The optimizer utilizes Adam Weight, the criteria uses NLLLoss, and the model is trained using 32 for batch_size. In the fourteenth epoch, we obtained the maximum accuracy score of 96.26% based on the training data. The outcomes of the predictions demonstrate how excellent this score is. EfficienceNet, DenseNet, AlexNet, and other pretrained models are among the alternatives that scientists are advised to try training with.

Tracking Players in a Badminton Court by Two Cameras

This study proposes a simple method for multi-object tracking (MOT) of players in a badminton court. We leverage two off-the-shelf cameras, one on the top of the court and the other on the side of the court. The one on the top is to track players’ trajectories, while the one on the side is to analyze the pixel features of players. By computing the correlations between adjacent frames and engaging the information of the two cameras, MOT of badminton players is obtained. This two-camera approach addresses the challenge of player occlusion and overlapping in a badminton court, providing player trajectory tracking and multi-angle analysis. The presented system offers insights into the positions and movements of badminton players, thus serving as a coaching or self-training tool for badminton players to improve their gaming strategies. Supercapacitors are known for longer cycle life and faster charging rate compared to batteries. However, the energy density of supercapacitors requires improvement to expand their application space. To raise the energy density of structural supercapacitors, this work demonstrates a low resistance and mechanically strong solid-state electrolyte.

Researchers emphasize the importance of hardware accelerators for mathematical morphology. If there are any issues, the hardware architecture may need to be redesigned. Thus, we propose a novel, reconfigurable hardware architecture with pipeline techniques for acceleration. With the order control register, there is no need to modify the architecture even if different results are expected. Furthermore, the hardware architecture caters to specific purposes instead of requiring a purpose-built hardware design.

Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) refers to the use of AI to automate the information creation process while fulfilling the personalized requirements of users. However, due to the instability of AIGC models, e.g., the stochastic nature of diffusion models, the quality and accuracy of the generated content can vary significantly. In wireless edge networks, the transmission of incorrectly generated content may unnecessarily consume network resources. Thus, a dynamic AIGC service provider (ASP) selection scheme is required to enable users to connect to the most suited ASP, improving the users’ satisfaction and quality of generated content. In this article, we first review the AIGC techniques and their applications in wireless networks. We then present the AIGC-as-a-service (AaaS) concept and discuss the challenges in deploying AaaS at the edge networks. Yet, it is essential to have performance metrics to evaluate the accuracy of AIGC services. Thus, we introduce several image-based perceived quality evaluation metrics. Then, we propose a general and effective model to illustrate the relationship between computational resources and user-perceived quality evaluation metrics. To achieve efficient AaaS and maximize the quality of generated content in wireless edge networks, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-enabled algorithm for the optimal ASP selection. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide a higher quality of generated content to users and achieve fewer crashed tasks by comparing with four benchmarks, i.e., overloading-avoidance, random, round-robin policies, and the upper-bound schemes. © 2023, CC BY.

In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company’s business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal.

Whittle-Matérn fields are a recently introduced class of Gaussian processes on metric graphs, which are specified as solutions to a fractional-order stochastic differential equation. Unlike earlier covariance-based approaches for specifying Gaussian fields on metric graphs, the Whittle-Matérn fields are well-defined for any compact metric graph and can provide Gaussian processes with differentiable sample paths. We derive the main statistical properties of the model class, particularly the consistency and asymptotic normality of maximum likelihood estimators of model parameters and the necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotic optimality properties of linear prediction based on the model with misspecified parameters. The covariance function of the Whittle-Matérn fields is generally unavailable in closed form, and they have therefore been challenging to use for statistical inference. However, we show that for specific values of the fractional exponent, when the fields have Markov properties, likelihood-based inference and spatial prediction can be performed exactly and computationally efficiently. This facilitates using the Whittle-Matérn fields in statistical applications involving big datasets without the need for any approximations. Stress, as a reaction to threatening situations, can raise heart rate and result in serious conditions that might cause significant damage or even be life-threatening. Traditional methods for evaluating stress, which rely on subjective self-reporting and clinical assessments, often suffer from biases and inconsistencies. Artificial intelligence models have been explored to predict stress levels more accurately. This paper investigates the application of Extreme Gradient Boosting in classifying psychological stress using the WESAD dataset, which includes parameters such as acceleration, electrocardiogram, electromyography, electrodermal activity, temperature, and respiration. The dataset was balanced and sampled to create a manageable subset for experimental. Extreme Gradient Boosting was chosen for its efficiency and scalability in handling complex datasets. The model was trained and validated, achieving a 95% accuracy in predicting stress levels. This study highlights the potential of integrating Extreme Gradient Boosting models into wearable devices for real-time stress monitoring. Future work involves optimizing the model to utilize fewer sensors without decreasing accuracy, ensuring it can be integrated into portable/wearable systems using tiny microcontrollers.
