Kansei engineering has a wide range of applications in design and industry. By considering factors related to Kansei and applying them to the product development and design process, user experience can be improved. To evaluate Kansei quantitatively, researchers used questionnaires such as self-assessment manikin (SAM) in the past years. Recently, researchers have measured physiological signals associated with a person's emotional state, such as electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV), to evaluate Kansei more objectively. Furthermore, previous studies have proposed a method to estimate emotions using EEG and HRV. They combined these two signals to estimate emotions based on a psychological model, Russell's circumplex model. In order to distinguish inferred emotions based on physiological signals from cognitive emotions, they named their method the bio-emotion estimation method. However, the accuracy of bio-emotion estimation method has not been fully validated. Meanwhile, the traditional SAM questionnaire can obtain users' cognitive emotions with arousal and valence value. The arousal and valence also correspond to the two factors of the bio-emotion estimation method. Therefore, we conducted a SAM questionnaire to verify the accuracy of the bio-emotion estimation method. The results showed that the measured EEG indexes were highly consistent with human arousal perception. Then, we applied the bio-emotion estimation method to present the emotional transitions induced by the stimuli.

This study aims to develop a system for extracting crucial information from tire sidewalls using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Initially, images of tire were captured manually by smartphone cameras, including Redmi 9T, iPhone 11, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The captured images are then transferred to a computer for storage. Subsequently, these images were cropped according to the boundaries identified by Hough Circle Transform (HCT). The cropped images were then further pre-processed. During the pre-processing phase, geometrical transformation and image sharpening techniques are applied to enhance the clarity and readability of the text images. The text is then extracted using Google Vision, with the extracted text categorized by size, DOT, brand and pattern. The results indicated that the effectiveness of image pre-processing was constrained by the accuracy of circle detection, which reached a maximum rate of 87.1%. This causes parts of the text to be cut out inaccurately, leading to a suboptimal extraction accuracy of 55.65%. It is also observed that the Redmi 9T camera produced inconsistent results compared to other devices. Specifically, the iPhone 11 and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra demonstrated superior extraction accuracies of 69.71% and 66.37%, respectively, whereas the Redmi 9T achieved a lower extraction accuracy of 37.76%.

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a pivotal genetic marker influencing the efficacy of immunotherapy in colorectal cancer. Traditional MSI examination often requires additional genetic or immunohistochemical tests, whereas histology images, widely available in colorectal cancer diagnosis, offer a valuable alternative for MSI prediction. Although Transformer-based models have demonstrated promising outcomes in predicting MSI from histology images, they are hampered by traditional local attention mechanisms that struggle to capture long-range interdependencies and establish a comprehensive global receptive field. In this study, we introduce DiNAT-MSI, a novel framework for histology-based MSI prediction that incorporates the Dilated Neighborhood Attention Transformer (DiNAT). This model enhances global context recognition and substantially expands receptive fields, all without additional computational burden. Our results demonstrate that DiNAT-MSI achieves a superior patientwise AUROC compared to ResNet18 and Swin Transformer, along with commendable explainability. Our work not only illustrates a more accessible diagnostic tool for leveraging histological data but also underscores the potential of Transformerbased models with sophisticated attention designs in advancing precision medicine for colorectal cancer patients.

The importance of silicon cannot be undermined - in photovoltaics (PV) as well as in semiconductor industries. However, silicon is very brittle. Silicon cells/wafers crack easily during manufacturing assembly and/or during device operations. Crack Catcher AI uses novel smart fracture mechanics approach with Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies to predict and control crack/damage evolution in thin silicon cells/wafers. This is critical as semiconductor 3D integration technology calls for wafer-to-wafer bonding with utmost alignment accuracy and yield/reliability.

A future networking design called "software-defined networking" combines network programmability with centralized administration (SDN). Network administration is currently handled by SDN, which, at the regulator, which acts as the cable network processor and divides the data plane into a control plane and a data aircraft. Recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (Al) have shown a stronger inclination for the science community to benefit from their ability to give learning capabilities and enhance Indicator. The author of this research provides a comprehensive analysis of initiatives underway to incorporate Al with SDN. The study concluded that the three primary Al thread where scientific research was centered were computer science, conceptual, and fuzzy reasoning systems. The authors of this paper explore the several fields in which these approaches may be used, their potential future applications, and the innovations made possible by the integration of AI-based methods into the SDN paradigm. By choosing the right SDN controller, any large organization may lower network complexity, implementation expenses, and maintenance costs. The focus of this article is software defined networking's benefits and downsides (SDN). Following is a basic explanation of artificial intelligence and a list of some of its most significant applications in SDN.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a type of dementia that leads to memory loss and impairment, which afects patients’ lives badly. It is not curable yet, but its progression can be slowed down if detected at earlier stages. In this research study, we propose a transfer learning-based convolutional neural network (CNN) model to classify magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) into one of four stages of Alzheimer's disease. One of the major limitations of the deep learning-based classification model is the non-availability of healthcare datasets related to AD. The widely used Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) dataset has a major class imbalance issue. We propose a generative adversarial network (GAN) based data augmentation technique to overcome the data imbalance. This promotes the investigation of applying GANs to generate synthetic samples for minority classes in Alzheimer's disease datasets to enhance classification performance. The results show the progression in the overall classification process of AD.

Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with the Cell Division Cycle 7 (CDC7) protein emerging as a potential therapeutic target due to its critical role in tumor proliferation, survival, and resistance. However, a comprehensive analysis of CDC7 across multiple cancers is lacking, and existing therapeutic options have come with limited clinical success. The aim of this is to integrate a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of CDC7 with the identification of novel marine-derived inhibitors, bridging the understanding of CDC7's role as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target across diverse cancer types. In this study, we conducted a pan-cancer analysis of CDC7 across 33 tumor types using publicly available datasets to evaluate its expression, genetic alterations, immune interactions, survival, and prognostic significance. Additionally, a marine-derived compound library of 31,492 molecules was screened to identify potential CDC7 inhibitors using chemoinformatics and machine learning. The top candidates underwent rigorous evaluations, including molecular docking, pharmacokinetics, toxicity, Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The findings revealed that CDC7 is overexpressed in several cancers and is associated with poor survival outcomes and unfavorable prognosis. Enrichment analysis linked CDC7 to critical DNA replication pathways, while its role in modulating tumor-immune interactions highlighted its potential as a target for immunotherapy. Among all tested compounds, Tetrahydroaltersolanol D (CMNPD21999) exhibited the strongest binding affinity and stability, along with better drug-likeness and zero toxicity. These attributes highlight its potential as a promising drug candidate for CDC7 inhibition and future cancer treatment development. Furthermore, additional in vitro and in vivo studies are required to confirm the effectiveness of this drug candidate against the CDC7 protein. © 2025

Multi-granularity Interaction Simulation for Unsupervised Interactive Segmentation

Interactive segmentation enables users to segment as needed by providing cues of objects, which introduces human-computer interaction for many fields, such as image editing and medical image analysis. Typically, massive and expansive pixel-level annotations are spent to train deep models by object-oriented interactions with manually labeled object masks. In this work, we reveal that informative interactions can be made by simulation with semantic-consistent yet diverse region exploration in an unsupervised paradigm. Concretely, we introduce a Multi-granularity Interaction Simulation (MIS) approach to open up a promising direction for unsupervised interactive segmentation. Drawing on the high-quality dense features produced by recent self-supervised models, we propose to gradually merge patches or regions with similar features to form more extensive regions and thus, every merged region serves as a semantic-meaningful multi-granularity proposal. By randomly sampling these proposals and simulating possible interactions based on them, we provide meaningful interaction at multiple granularities to teach the model to understand interactions. Our MIS significantly outperforms non-deep learning unsupervised methods and is even comparable with some previous deep-supervised methods without any annotation. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Indonesia had been suffered by earthquake and tsunami for many centuries. Since many lives have taken by tsunami strikes, alert and response system are very important as important part of Disaster Risk Reduction, especially in area with high population density. This research conducted in Kangkung fishing village in Bandar Lampung coastal area which is an earthquake and tsunami prone area. The aim of the research is to study alert and response of Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction. The research conducted by qualitative method and purposive-descriptive approach. There were 53 respondents which participated in the survey and interview. It is reported that "Smart Resilient City"model suitable for community needs of alert and response of earthquake and tsunami disaster. This research meets conclusion that "Smart Resilient City"model may become a great solution in Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction to cope with the hazard of earthquake and tsunami comprehensively and sustainably. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
