Predicting the insulating paper state of the power transformer based on XGBoost/LightGBM models

Power transformer plays a crucial role in the power networks. Most of the transformer malfunctions was due to failure in the insulating systems. The utilities keen on the contentious operation of the power network, so early detection of the transformer faults avoiding the undesirable outage of the transformer from the service. The insulating paper state is an indication to the transformer health and aging of it may lead to failure of the transformer, so some periodic and routine test must be performed on the insulting oil to get information about the insulating paper condition. The value of the degree of polymerization (DP) is a key of the insulating paper state. Various recommended tests such as the dissolved gases (DGA), breakdown voltage (BDV), oil interfacial tension (IF), oil acidity (ACI), moisture content (MC), oil color (OC), dielectric loss (Tan δ), and furans concentration specifically (2-furfuraldehyde (2-FAL)) were carried out to correlate between these variables and the DP and then to the insulating oil state. The collected data from these tests were used to supply XGBoost/LightGBM to build artificial intelligence model to predict the insulating paper state. The results indicated that the great ability of the proposed model to predict the insulating state with high accuracy. Of these various configurations for these two classification models, one achieved perfect prediction accuracy (100%) of the insulating paper state prediction accuracy. The other configurations showed accuracy values from 1.0 down to 0.955. © The Author(s) 2025.

Dynamic programming is a fundamental algorithm that can be found in our daily lives easily. One of the dynamic programming algorithm implementations consists of solving the 0/1 knapsack problem. A 0/1 knapsack problem can be seen from industrial production cost. It is prevalent that a production cost has to be as efficient as possible, but the expectation is to get the proceeds of the products higher. Thus, the dynamic programming algorithm can be implemented to solve the diverse knapsack problem, one of which is the 0/1 knapsack problem, which would be the main focus of this paper. The implementation was implemented using C language. This paper was created as an early implementation algorithm using a Dynamic program algorithm applied to an Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataset.

The rising prevalence of depression presents a significant global health challenge, underscoring the need for effective early detection through sentiment analysis. Traditional multimodal sentiment analysis methods, which rely on Euclidean space for data representation, often fail to capture the complex hierarchical relationships and non-linear structures inherent in multimodal data. To address this limitation, we propose a novel multimodal architecture that operates in hyperbolic space and incorporates attention-based ensemble learning to enhance feature representation and model performance. We developed and evaluated ten AI models—five utilizing Euclidean space and five leveraging hyperbolic space—on the Spoken Language Understanding Evaluation (SLUE) benchmark dataset. The models were assessed using cross-validation techniques to ensure robustness, and statistical analyses were conducted to validate the findings. Our results indicate that hyperbolic-based multimodal models achieve a 2.32% improvement in accuracy compared to their Euclidean counterparts, while the integration of self-attention mechanisms further contributes an average accuracy gain of 0.96%. Additionally, we observed a 3.76% decline in performance when reducing the training-to-test data ratio from 90:10 to 50:50, highlighting the importance of data distribution in model training. These findings confirm that attention-enhanced multimodal models in hyperbolic space offer superior representations for sentiment analysis. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

TAROGE-M is a radio antenna array atop ∼ 2.7 km-high Mt. Melbourne in Antarctica for detecting ultra-high energy (UHE, E > 1017 eV) air showers in near-horizontal directions. Besides the detection of cosmic rays and Earth-skimming tau neutrinos, its primary goal is to reproduce the discovery and verify the origin of so-called ANITA anomalous events, having feature of upward-going UHE air showers but cannot be explained by tau neutrinos. The detection concept takes advantages of a high altitude for a broad view toward the horizon;strong and near-vertical geomagnetic field for enhancing the radio signal;and quiet radio environment in Antarctica. Its relatively simple design and high duty cycle make it easily to be extended and thus to achieve an exposure competitive with ANITA experiments within a few years. The first TAROGE-M station operating at 180-450 MHz frequencies deployed in 2020 detected seven UHE cosmic ray events within 25.3-day livetime. The events have a mean energy of ∼ 1 EeV and an estimated flux consistent with other experiments, and validate the station as an UHE particle detector. In 2022-2023 season, the system was upgraded for a robust long-term operation, with a more detailed calibration with a drone-borne pulser. We also discuss the planned upgrade, including the implementation of interferometric trigger, which is expected to increase the cosmic ray and tau neutrino acceptances by a factor of 10 at 0.1 EeV, corresponding to a lower energy threshold by a factor of 3. © Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons.

We demonstrate quantum logic enhanced sensitivity for a macroscopic ensemble of solid-state, hybrid two-qubit sensors. We achieve over a factor of 30 improvement in the single-shot signal-to-noise ratio, translating to an ac magnetic field sensitivity enhancement exceeding an order of magnitude for time-averaged measurements. Using the electronic spins of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond as sensors, we leverage the on-site nitrogen nuclear spins of the NV centers as memory qubits, in combination with homogeneous and stable bias and control fields, ensuring that all of the ∼109 two-qubit sensors are sufficiently identical to permit global control of the NV ensemble spin states. We find quantum logic sensitivity enhancement for multiple measurement protocols with varying optimal sensing intervals, including XY8 and DROID-60 dynamical decoupling, as well as correlation spectroscopy, using an applied ac magnetic field signal. The results are independent of the nature of the target signal and broadly applicable to measurements using NV centers and other solid-state spin ensembles. This work provides a benchmark for macroscopic ensembles of quantum sensors that employ quantum logic or quantum error correction algorithms for enhanced sensitivity.

Neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 3 (NTRK3) has pleiotropic functions: it acts not only as an oncogene in breast and gastric cancers but also as a dependence receptor in tumor suppressor genes in colon cancer and neuroblastomas. However, the role of NTRK3 in upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) is not well documented. This study investigated the association between NTRK3 expression and outcomes in UTUC patients and validated the results in tests on UTUC cell lines. A total of 118 UTUC cancer tissue samples were examined to evaluate the expression of NTRK3. Survival curves were generated using Kaplan–Meier estimates, and Cox regression models were used for investigating survival outcomes. Higher NTRK3 expression was correlated with worse progression-free survival, cancer-specific survival, and overall survival. Moreover, the results of an Ingenuity Pathway Analysis suggested that NTRK3 may interact with the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway to promote cancer. NTRK3 downregulation in BFTC909 cells through shRNA reduced cellular migration, invasion, and activity in the AKT-mTOR pathway. Furthermore, the overexpression of NTRK3 in UM-UC-14 cells promoted AKT-mTOR pathway activity, cellular migration, and cell invasion. From these observations, we concluded that NTRK3 may contribute to aggressive behaviors in UTUC by facilitating cell migration and invasion through its interaction with the AKT-mTOR pathway and the expression of NTRK3 is a potential predictor of clinical outcomes in cases of UTUC. © 2024 The Authors. Electronic liquid crystal (ELC) phases are spontaneous symmetry breaking states believed to arise from strong electron correlation in quantum materials such as cuprates and iron pnictides. Here, we report a direct observation of a smectic phase in a weakly correlated Dirac nodal line (DNL) semimetal GdSbxTe2-x. Incommensurate smectic charge modulation and intense local unidirectional nanostructure are visualized by using spectroscopic imaging - scanning tunneling microscopy. As topological materials with symmetry protected Dirac or Weyl fermions are mostly weakly correlated, the discovery of such an ELC phase are anomalous and raise questions on the origin of their emergence. Specifically, we demonstrate how chemical substitution generates these symmetry breaking phases before the system undergoes a charge density wave (CDW) - orthorhombic structural transition. Our results highlight the importance of impurities in realizing ELC phases and present a new material platform for exploring the interplay among quenched disorder, topology and electron correlation. This article aims to compare forecasting techniques with machine learning techniques for predicting the number of people injured in road accidents using data from the Injury Information Collaboration Center, department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health Outpatient Files (OPD) spanning the years 2018 to 2022. The four machine-learning techniques examined in this study include Decision Tree Regression, Random Forest Regression, Support Vector Regression, and Multiple Linear Regression. The data analysis was performed using the R programming language. The results revealed that the Decision Tree Regression technique yielded the most accurate predictions for the number of road traffic injuries, as evidenced by its lowest values of MAE, MSE, and RMSE.

This paper demonstrates the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between teams of medical researchers, product design researchers, and computer science students. Their combined work resulted in both a concept and a product, a Smart Health Assistive Bag for children being hospitalized. The Child Psychiatry Inpatient Unit at Sheba Medical Center provides mental health services to children suffering from a variety of psychopathological conditions. The multidisciplinary staff takes a family-oriented approach where parents and caregivers are encouraged to be active participants in the treatment team throughout their child's stay. Our work focused on the design and development of a Smart Bag, which supports this family-oriented approach, encourages the involvement of the family during the child's stay and collects new data for future functional analysis. engineering and design students from both Shenkar and the Technion worked with Sheba's clinicians to create a conceptual prototype that advances the defined theoretical needs and build a working prototype. Our Smart Bag aimed at aiding child hospitalizations in the Psychiatrist Inpatient Unit is an important innovative tool for Sheba's Smart Health facility. It is designed to help the child in adjusting to the unit and be an active participant in their daily routine while in the unit. Additionally, because it has IoT sensors and is linked to a network through a digital platform, it supports the child's family and caregivers in staying updated regarding the child's progress. The Smart Bag can apprise the family about the child's daily achievements by informing them of tokens given to the child for desirable behavior. It updates both family and caregivers regarding the current stage in the child's treatment. Such on-going communication involving the child, caregivers and clinicians reduces the stress and worry that families often feel when their child is hospitalized in the Psychiatrist Unit and improves the therap

Objective: Extraction of the third molar of the mandible is one of the most common oral surgical procedures. Preoperative monitoring and assessment are crucial to mitigate neurological risks. Identifying whether the third molar in the mandible compresses the inferior alveolar nerve still relies on dental professionals, a task that is repetitive and time-consuming. Thus, the primary objective is to utilize dental panoramic radiography for image processing and classify whether the third molar compresses the inferior alveolar nerve, aiming to reduce the demand for CT images in symptom diagnosis and mitigate the risks associated with high-dose radiation. technology or Method: This study proposes an innovative dental panoramic radiography segmentation technique to locate the third molar position. Subsequently, an innovative edge masking enhancement method is used to extract features of the inferior alveolar nerve and the third molar. Moreover, a transformer-based image detection model to consider whether the third molar compresses the inferior alveolar nerve. Results: The third molar position localization method achieved an accuracy rate of 97.92%, compared to recent research at least improved by 3.6% accuracy. Subsequently, innovative edge masking and image enhancement methods improve classification accuracy by 4.3%, when supplemented with computed tomography scan images for further evaluation, the maximum accuracy reached 98.45%, representing a 4.5% improvement compared to previous studies. Conclusions: The third molar position detection results will impact the identification of the inferior alveolar nerve compressed by the third molar. Through the innovative edge region segmentation algorithm can effectively distinguish this object, and the overall evaluation accuracy can be improved by approximately 3.8%. © 2013 IEEE.
